Also a lot of really good soft skills i.e. working with people, troubleshooting, explaining technical concepts to someone who isn't technical. It can be rough but I don't think it's the worst job in the world

Solving CTFs isn't helpdesk work 😄 look at some projects, run your own things. Learn how to setup an active directory environment in VMs for example, for a cybersecurity optic, you hack it or make it secure. Run your own website, services, I have a VPS that I maintain that does various things
