I haven't used it, when I was doing my evaluation, I couldn't point to the autobackup to sync to my s3, and it's not FOSS. No reason to use it when Trillium and Joplin exist; similar features, but I can actually evaluate the code and sync to storage of my choosing very easily

And, the disadvantage of note files being on disk: some of my notes are very large. Git does not deal well with large files, simpler for me to just use a notes app that is backed by a sqlite db file.

Sure, Kali is your "one size fits all" approach. You can download, install it (baremetal/virtual) and get rolling fairly quickly.
