Any 'account unknown' is the SID of an account that does not exist on this PC. When permissions are set in the security tab they are not associated with the account's name, it is the account's SID that is stored there.
When you view permissions all known SIDs are displayed as the name of the account in question. When you delete an account this does not remove it from all the places where it has permissions. But as the system can no longer find a friendly name for the account it will now display its SID in full.
