Open Vmware Workstation.

Mac stands for media acces control it is used to address your device like an IP address. in the simplest terms (which arent exactly fully refelctive of what happens) u can think of ips as what your router uses to route outside your network (wan) and mac address are what your switch uses to route within your network (lan).

Macs are essential for routing outside a network aswell as a router re-encapsulates your packet with its mac address when routing within its own network
