i presume disk 2 is the external drive as when I unplug it - it disappears

1. Backup any files on it to Mac. For the files to be safe
2. Right click Primary partition on it and format it to NTFS

All data will disappear, but windows will be able to use this drive

As well as mac

Then you can move files that you backed up back

Continue to study. Continue to do easy CTFs. But use writeups to learn what you missed after ctf is ended

This way you get the knowledge and experience even from a failure. And eventually you'll start cracking them

You get stuck -> you try harder -> you look at writeups for hints -> you complete the challenge -> you apply what you learnt from the ctf to new challenges -> expanding your knowledge and building a methodology -> repeat

Like with anything, practice makes permanent - you'll get better over time
