gritty fern
bitter quiver
#

You don't have to be somebody, you just need to know somebody

golden timber
#

That's super true with a lot of things

#

I've seen the dumbest millionaires

gritty fern
#

Yeah its def more important to know people

sharp parrot
#

hi

bitter quiver
#

It's why I don't buy the nice guys finish last line lol. Being caring has resulted in my having a ton of avenues

#

Also smart and generally hardworking

#

It's a combo thing

golden timber
#

Yeah it kinda just depends on the situation because if you're too nice, you get taken advantage of.

#

I choose to be nice despite other people's motives though

bitter quiver
#

I teach employees the power of no

#

Saying "No" with a well thought out explanation will take you far

golden timber
#

Yeah, that's a regret of mine

bitter quiver
#

I'll challenge directors.

#

Not emotionally or willy nilly, I do it with logic and with the presentation and intent to aid them as us as a whole

#

Just like you manage a team, you have to manage laterally, and you have to manage up

bitter quiver
golden timber
#

Yeah, in my music production commission work, too many times I've swayed back and forth because I didn't say no

bitter quiver
#

That's also a very unique thing as well which makes it hard

#

any time of commission based artistic field you have to know your path and ride on it

golden timber
#

Mhm..

#

I'll sink 40 hours into a project for $350

#

because I don't care about the money

#

but then it's like, overcompensating for my time

bitter quiver
#

I don't care about money, but I do care about my time.

golden timber
#

Exactly

bitter quiver
#

So I base things on what my time is worth. Granted to a friend/family my time is free or cheap.

#

But to a consumer my time has costs.

golden timber
#

Yeah it's literally that

#

Also explains why knowing people is effective

bitter quiver
#

Eons ago when I was a personal trainer though I quit training friends for free for a variety of reasons

golden timber
#

because to them, they will do anything to provide you value. Confidence is attained by the value you provide others

#

Because if you provide others value, you will be a part of that other person's value

bitter quiver
#

Great way of breaking it down

golden timber
#

therefore, from a selfish perspective, they can't break you off

#

Like, you're the only sysadmin there that knows how everything routes in the network

#

they're not gonna just easily replace you

bitter quiver
#

Aye.

golden timber
#

I'll show you the best video I could ever recommend anyone

#
bitter quiver
#

I actually design the tools I do to be easily trained on and self sustaining. I technically replace myself at work. But I'm not afraid because of the connections. I treat every role as temporary and instead build the relationship that gets me 5+ references with great titles on my resume.

golden timber
#

Yeah very true

#

That's just it right, your tools still provide value, and you are the maintainer of those

#

I created a tool for a personal use-case in C# and it works for training really well. I'm the lead audio engineer at my church and it helps a lot

bitter quiver
#

That as well. When someone breaks them I have to fix it lol

golden timber
#

πŸ˜‚

shut hawk
# golden timber That's just it right, your tools still provide value, and you are the maintainer...

omg genius

golden timber
bitter quiver
# golden timber omg genius

Never help out an old place for free for one reason only, even if you want to. YOu have no legal protections if something goes wrong. Make sure they pay you and it's a contracted thing.

#

Exceptions apply

golden timber
golden timber
bitter quiver
#

Helping places like non-profits for free is great for building a portofilio and connections

#

I mean an old job

golden timber
#

Yeah yeah

#

It's amazing experience honestly

bitter quiver
#

And again you might want to but just CYOA

#

OR maybe just advise a buddy there/your old boss what should do the trick adn they can do it on their own

#

If you really like em, but don't touch anything on the intranet lol

golden timber
#

mhm

#

omg if you touch the intranet as an ex-employee

#

that sounds like, game over

#

if that higher up gets pissed off

#

"it's about making other people feel secure so that they keep you around"

bitter quiver
#

Kinda what I also do with employees.

#

I protect and develop them. Maybe one day one will be a CEO.

golden timber
#

yeah it's such an amazing concept, because even if you do it selfishly, it makes sense

bitter quiver
#

You can secure your future by being a valued person someone knows

#

I have old employees who haven't worked for me in almost a decade who still call me boss and it's weird lol

golden timber

Hello everyone. I would like to hear your opinion about one matter.
I have a corporate laptop that I can use just for pentesting and learning.
I have already installed kali for the learning purpose (THM und HTB) but i would like to a different environment for the corporate pentesting to keep things separated.
I came across the idea of dua boot two kali version. I am not sure if its doable/efficient. Can you please give me your opinion?

yes I heard had, but that is actually not the question.
Kali barematel is a business decision.
The question is: is it possible to have two kalis with dual boot:

kali money

wipe out is an option when the pentesting is for different clients right? when then pentesting is only for the internal client, is it also necessary?

Burp Suite was developed by PortSwigger and started in 2003 by its creator, Dafydd Stuttard. Interestingly, the name β€œBurp Suite” has a playful origin. When Dafydd Stuttard wrote the first version of Burp, he added actual burping sounds to the tool, which led to the whimsical name.

#

The name β€œMetasploit” was coined by its creator, H.D. Moore, back in the early 2000s. The term combines β€œmeta” (meaning self-referential or transcending) with β€œexploit” (referring to security vulnerabilities). Essentially, Metasploit is a powerful framework for penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and ethical hacking. Its name reflects its purpose: to explore and exploit security weaknesses in a controlled and responsible manner.

FUN FACT: Postman founded in India! The company’s headquarters are in San Francisco, but it has additional offices in Tokyo and Bangalore, where Postman originated. The tool started as a side project by software engineer Abhinav Asthana in 2012. Abhinav aimed to simplify API testing while working at Yahoo Bangalore, and that’s how Postman came into existence.
