Hi all, sorry for interupt. I want to learn about LKM can someone point me to a good resource for a beginner? Thx in advance
dear lord. i almost ask what does spaghetti do on monitor...
What's LKM?
Linux Kernel Module
Does Linus have a discord? I bet he knows haha
I am lost king on koth and some player use rootkit LKM on it. So i want to learn about that 😅
Hello Guys, I'm a brazilian that studies at tecnology institute of aeronautics and i'm starting to do some CTF in tryhackme after studying cybersec for one year, but, doing the first machines in tryhackme i noticed that i'm really bad at privilege escalation, does someone here have a material (pdf/site/anything) about that?
Focus on the rooms, there are entire sets of Priv Esc
Also look up lolbins, gtfo bins
and take good notes
Clouds go brrrrr
Nj Transit go Delaaaaaaaay
Oooo niceee
this morning was a bit cloudy down here
Man i lost my streak & i just created a ticket now . Does tryhackme not send email reminders anymore for streak ?
They do, I get mine everyday
Some people don't get the E-mails.
checked the spam folder?
Yeah no emails
I also use to get emails earlier but now i didn’t received any email 😢
Heey
Yooo
Evening.
what does it mean if "Access-Control-Allow-Origin: " is left blank?
Thankfully my phone isn't getting worse.
okay its vulnerable to cors misconfig i think
Try adding an arbitrary cors origin to the request
why cant i send pics?
@rapid merlin
You are verified, it takes up to 24 hours to update your level roles

someone messed up
wait, it works?
huh
oh godness gracious
Just bellow it is allow credentialed which bumps it up a little
If you’re doing bounty delete the pic and submit a report
Screenshots should be enough
Burp also has an add on that makes pocs
Forgot if it’s on the free version

@mossy river ⬆️
Sigh
wait what??? there is translate functionality in the bot now???
@coarse moth
Please keep all communication in English. This also means no encrypted posting.
It has always exist, it's only available to moderators
yeah shadow was just surprised it was there at all.. expceted it to be for moderators
according to google translate it is a good morning message
relax i just was saying hi, whats going on
took over 1 min to get the text onto google translate and translated
Shocking
Taking a while to think about it though
TryModerateMe is still thinking...
yeah to be honest it is so rare to see gpl wins it is kinda shocking
Might be an interesting use case for an llm
Translating text rapidly?
Doesn't come up very often in court
hmm, me can read that language
It's usually pretty hard to prove
API it uses has probably updated
btw if anyone's doing Complete Beginner now, Web Fundamentals can be useful before Pickle Rick
it rarely gets to court due to lack of funding for legal teams
fair point
A small useful reminder, the **pspy **tool helps great in detecting automatic connection processes when solving ctf or pentesting.
and Kenobi before Basic Pentesting is also more comprehensive
I'd say we have near-instant translation already
DeepL, Google does a fantastic job at it
Fair
I wonder if you could teach an LLM a different language by hooking it up to something like duolingo...
Ethically, I think duolingo's terms would prohibit that
sure, but I'm just wondering if it would actually work if such things weren't barriers
LLMs don't actually "learn" the way you are thinking. Look at the underlying maths, LLM is at its core, very similar to CNN and other types of neural networks.
AI doesn't actually learn anything, in many ways it's very similar to bayesian statistics.
I figured it was like other ML models
i am so sorry that has never happened before
give them training data, analyse the response, feed into an error function which adjusts internal weights
It is. But ML models are just that models, context and meaning are irrelevant to what the model computes
Learning for AI/ML isn't about understanding and contextual analysis, it's an adjustement of bias and weights at each neuron layer
how does our brain do this wegihting
for a probabilistic analysis that is vacant of context - "what's the next letter" is very different than understanding the meaning of a sentence
hmmm
sure, but I don't see why that would preclude it from learning/adjusting via something like duolingo (which feeds you a phrase, analyses your response and gives you feedback on what was wrong)
Unknown, I'm not convinced our brain does do the weighting. I'm convinced that we are over-tuned pattern recognizers, pareidolia is more common than uncommon
ah, seeing spirits in the wind. gotta remember that word
I disagree with the fundamental verbiage, and gives laymen misunderstanding of what the models are doing. "Learning" in the AI/ML technical jargon is as you describe, but it applies to a very narrow probabilistic outcome. It's like when cosmologists dumb down the physics of the big bang or quantum for laymen. there's a lot of nuance missing, and you could apply a LMM to any gamified experience.
You wouldn't be "teaching" the model the language, you're teaching the model how to score well in th e game.
How = the mechanical responses to the questions
LLMs are a really really fancy Markov chain generator
Ok time to test this
Go to track down the road to the same as the wifi is a bit more about the same as the wifi is a bit more about the same as the wifi
fair. I guess I'm just not convinced humans learn any differently.
I assume humans use memory and experience more
Rather than pure stats
but fundamentally, we still learn by learning how to score well in games.
I stand by fancy Markov chain generator
I think I know what you mean but I have a lot of past papers and I have a lot of past papers and I have a lot of past papers Is what comes up on mine
Heh
That's a good time to get the latest Flash player is required for video playback is unavailable right now because this video is not available for remote playback is unavailable right now
Depends on the seed word
Mine doesn't predict until I start typing but I've turned learning off
That's a few years and a few years and a few years
Yep. I had to put in a single character to start it of
It gets stuck in that loop
It makes typing in my address easier tbf
But no matter what character I do, it eventually ends up in the same loop (past-papers)
Good morning I am not sure if you have any questions or need to be a good time to get the latest Flash player is required for video playback is unavailable right now because this video is not available for remote
I'm on a multihandler in metasploit. Does anyone know how I can assign it to a new session? I already have several shell tabs open
Ha it gets stuck on flash for some reason
Have you looked up the docs?
It will open a new session when something hits it
If you're asking now to run the handler in the background, that's a good opportunity to read the manual
I think the issue is less how it learns and more how AI applies what it "learns". You don't really have any fidelity with AI, you can't depend on it to extract the essence of a hundred experiences and come to a conclusion, and then apply it to the context you present it. It's not intelligent it can't think
It's a crazy sentence generate that can help when you need to brainstorm or something but that's about all it can do
We're still far far away from AGI
I hope that makes sense I'm very sleepy
But it's grammatically perfect at least
Heard not too long ago that gen AI is making phishing emails harder to spot
I love seeing articles that are like "random ceo says singularity will hit in 2026!!" like ok buddy sure
I am not an AI ❌
You sure?
Thats what an AI would say
Sorry your daily API quota has run out, please upgrade to the deluxe pack for more queries
Nah
thats what kanye west would say
Let's pretend my API quota hasn't run out. How many queries are left?
Integer overflow here
its makes sense. I also don't think these models have a mind or a self.
I am of the view that LLMs are great for vomiting a lot of buzzwords & ideas for the user to inspect further, but never should be relied on for anything more
I just don't think that having that is necessary in order to learn things
Also, I saw a discussion about it (LLMs) recently and this popped up - looks like an interesting, short paper to read https://openreview.net/pdf?id=GKTvAcb12b
LLMs won't replace coders anytime soon
I agree (and also think this applies to atleast 80% of humanity)
Yeah it's good to get the brain going if you're stuck in a writing rut
ChatGPT is just a rubber duck that can talk back
Based on the shite it spits out
It's helped a lot when I have a blank page to fill but need some ideas for starting
depends on the understanding of soon.
5 months? not a chance
5 years? maybe
Nah
Coding is inherently a creative process. AIs can't create
Well LLMs
yeah, its incapable of things humans haven't taught it
I dunno. what is a better example of creativity; the mona lisa or random crayon scribbles of a child?
one leads to the other
but is one more creative than the other
in the brain of the child it doesnt make any difference, i guess
How many times have your example child output something like the Mona Lisa?
does that matter?
the mona lisa is undoubtedly the creation of a skilled artist
but is it any more creative?
I guess what I'm getting at is how do we measure creativity?
Yes. The detail in the Mona Lisa far surpasses anything most humans are able to output. Of course it's more creative. The artist needs to study for years to understand the tools and techniques to do something like that, and then to take those tools and techniques and apply them in a creative way to something that's never been done before. A child with crayons is given crayons because they have very little understanding of the world and wouldn't have the precision or comprehension to begin applying skills to any trade
It's more so to do with working on their fine motor skills and working on their dexterity.
everything you have described is skill. I agree, the creator of the mona lisa has more skill than a toddler with crayons. but that doesn't make it more creative.
for me, its the ability to create (or solve) something in a way that has not been a plain copy of something already existing
sounds like novelty (||hoid is awesome||)
valuing what is new
Yes, and in many ways with many disciplines and teachers, and reapplying and reqorking skills from various domains into new ones. It's what made da Vinci so successful
Partly anyway
hi
Hello.
whats up ? 🙂
If an artist creates a work of powerful beauty—using new and innovative techniques—she will be lauded as a master, and will launch a new movement in aesthetics. Yet what if another, working independently with that exact level of skill, were to make the same accomplishments the very next month? Would she find similar acclaim? No. She’d be called derivative.
Sanderson, Brandon. The Way of Kings
Is it any different if one is a masterpiece and the other is crayon scribbles? The child is making something unique, without knowledge of the skills and techniques of the masters. pure creativity, no?
nothing much, you?
The sky badum tsk
I mean, Da Vinci was one of the most creative minds in history though
Thank to him we have tanks and helicopters.
Thanks to, or because of
Gave +1 Rep to @sick lance (current: #2 - 2036)
Both?
So do we talk about random stuff in this chat
Within reason.
I miss flying them
It's on my bucket list for this year to do my PPL again
Keep it civil, legal and ethical
so is the sheer number of creations that is the measure of creativity?
or is it that there is great utility within many of his creations?
he was, no doubt, one of the most intelligent people of his time.
who knows what he would have invented/discovered had he been born today.
but is does that make him more creative?
Creations don't need to have utility
agreed. so is it the sheer quantity of creations that a person makes during their life that is to be the measure of their creativity?
It's more about the new, never seen, or general problem solving
Hard to define to be honest
again, sounds more like novelty -> #general message
They're definitely linked
well AI is trained on human code, and since the vast amount of its bad code AI writes bad code is also a point
ML/DL isn't creative, it's derivative
uses previous examples
and mashes them up together
lets agree for the sake of argument. to the child, everything is novel and never seen. so everything is an act of pure creation, correct?
It literally isn't functional without absorbing the work of humans
yeah, and if humans don't innovate it can't even innovate
so the only truly creative human is one who lives in a cave, isolated from all human knowledge
Also running AI(that's smart enough to replace coders) is going to be vastly more expensive than a human
Man, this website is making mince meat of the Osint room.
No. Sure it's novel to the child, but they don't have the capacity to understand what they might be eliminating from their work
That why it's more than just that
No, as I've said before, a human needs to learn about tools and techniques and how to apply them in new ways. Being in a cave, robbed of the stimulation of all of the rest of human endeavour absolutely limits the development of the mind and the potential for creative output
One room down, 9 to go.
what rooms you doing?
A list. 🙂

I completely disagree. learning techniques and tools simply opens new avenues for creativity to explore. living in a cave simply limits access to what came before, and so limits exploration similarly. but the raw creativity is either there or it isn't.
In that case, it isn't; because a brain without stimulation literally doesn't make the connections needed to infer new ideas
but a person living in a cave isn't devoid of stimulation.
They're probably devoid of light, heat, food and clean water, so how creative, in that environment could they be?
who wanna go on a trip with shadow to the bottom of the deepest ocean hole????
anybody heard of logoFAIL
you tell me. imo, a child making crayon scribbles is as creative as da vinci painting the mona lisa. I've been asking for a metric by which to determine the amount of creativity. as far as im concerned, if they decided to make cave paintings using their poop, that could demonstrate creativity.
I should get on that as well.
Given the last expedition that tried that, nope
u seen anybody exploit it?
I can't find anything about the exploits for it
???
Grats
Ye!
You should.
I have an easy two rooms to start with, the second one I know I'm going to have problems with.
Forgot the name of that sub that got mashed
oceangate???
That's the one
well they were going for the titanic
Is a pretty deep hole
and not the marinsert thingy heregrave deepest hole
Mariana trench?
thanks hydra
also they skimped out on the safety checks and procedures of their vessel
Man essays suck
Oh for sure, and that was aside the design flaws
You got this
Novelty and originality are, after all, the foundation of almost every definition of creativity.
already, I am disappoint. seems like most of this is just equating creativity with skill (a premise I reject)
at least the people on board oceangate did not have time to suffer
just instant death at a certain depth
And experts would roundly disagree with your assertions
It's not just skill, but using that skill to do something original
does the level/degree of skill matter, or simply doing something with what they have?
anywho, time for other topics. thank you for journeying with me down this rabbit hole.
Sleepycat
would argue the degree/level of skill does not matter and sometimes hinder the creative use of the existing skill
ZzzZZzZZZzzZZZZZZZzZZZZzZzzzzZzZZzzzZz
Well she was snoring a short while ago
kit kat
I know a lot of creative folk who produce nothing, but you can trust a person with skills to produce something
And with creativity being heavily subjective it's really only useful IF and WHEN it yields a result.
Otherwise what more is it than a kid daydreaming.
practice makes perfects
I have a question, it's not about cyber, but i think you can respond me. Do you the best software for music production un Linux ?
what kind of music?
sheet music? composition from audio samples?
Reaper was alright
I think it's the second option 🤔
Like fl studio
LMMS @oak panther
Thanks, i will check this
Gave +1 Rep to @sand trench (current: #4 - 1662)
Reaper
sunvox
Thanks also 🫡
yeet
Paid though
Free trial
sunvox can be good if you are planning to do synth or 8-16 bit music
been using burp for 3 years and only today have i discovered dom invader. something new every day
LMMS and sunvox are the free music making programs shadow would recommend
LMMS is the most similar to fl studio though
Oh, sounds for me.
well have fun
the main problem shadow can see is it might not be as easy to get virtual instruments working in lmms as it is in FL studio

why do the cool stuffs somehow never update
for those wondering what shadow is looking at
also known as an alternative to safings portmaster
it is not updated in the arch repos
Yk how I haven’t seen talk in here for a long time Darek
Creativity is just what we call the application of ideas and experiences and skills into a [thing], painting or music or an Internet page. I think part of being creative is being alive, you have to live in order to live through experiences and to experience them in your own unique way. Therefore ai can't be creative, because its incapable of experience and thought and it's a really good word generator
Is my word autocomplete creative? No
Same rules apply imo
the ability to lock the background/wallpaper on windows machines using registry keys and setting it to kids cartoons pictures
yes it was probably bad for shadow to do that on their classmates computers
still did it
and to be fair shadow got into a tiny bit of problem for doing it and had to revert the changes in all the cases
nowadays some of the ublock block lists does that with the cookie pop ups
Bypass the exam and get passed by just doing the exam survey first instead of the exam first
I just clicked on the survey link before the exam
Could someone recommend what pathway to do next
reported it and still no response from them
Thanks.

Losing an hour of sleep I guess
well shadow has until the last day of this month before it is switching to daylight savings
I don't do party tricks 😂
depends on the country, some of them shutdown it down already
Israel still have it, but Argentina shutdown saving light back in 2009
shadow finds for sweden that daylights savings is actually better then the alternative
Also in the US Hawaii and Arizona don't have daylight saving
the closer you get to the equator the less shadow finds daylights savings is worth it
In Argentina was crazy, I remember when I was younger sundown at 9 pm 😂
pffft that is nothing
get up here in sweden and see the sun set at 14:00
or a bit further north no sun for a few months
I remember I had a few of those during winter living in London 😂
you looked outside it looks like 10 pm it was 4 or 5 😂
well that is 2 pm
you go to work and it is dark... you go out for lunch... you come back to work and it is dark out again
I remember once, that was really cloudy and suddenly everything went dark it was around 2 pm, but it was one off, you probably have it as a regular basis there 🙂
I wasn't an eclipse. I know the difference 😂 it was winter plus a very heavy storm
I remember it was around December, in London the earliest is around 4pm, but because of the storm and the cloudy day everything went dark much earlier
Anyone bored and feels like helping a noob out? 😅
Trying for 4 hours to implement a reverse shell on a htb machine, works with metasploit but not with netcat. I think it would be really valueable for me to understand what I am doing wrong.
i lack sooo much knowledge about linux and command ... just finished Network Services 2 my brain is about to explod
I feel you.
well the linux commands will stick in your brain over time if you use them enough
😄
it also helps to do some note taking
Oh the easy stuff gets easier. And then you get less easier things to do
yuup what subtlety said
like personal .txt file with commands and how and where to use them,
shadow still sucks at the python scripting parts
well .txt files don't look to great... try markdown files/.md
i mean for commands to use
practice makes perfect, hang in there and don't give up 🙂
It's good to compile cheat sheets and get lots of practice. Install Linux in a vm and play around with it. Take a snapshot of the vm and do stuff with it. When it breaks, reload the snapshot
yes 😄 let me that that and put it next to the mountain of stuff i need to learn
Some crazy people install Linux in their computer and use it as a regular OS so they are force to learn, what works for you 🙂
If it makes you feel any better, I've been using Linux for ~27 years and I still don't know everything
Ms paint.
its all-most like a daily joke at this point, every single day i see more and more new stuff that gets thrown into that pile
What distribution do you use?
31 here and exactly the same thing 😂
Walmart
some thing are repeating at this point. and i like it
Oh Linux desktops are easy these days though... Unless you do Linux From Scratch or Gentoo or Hannah Montana Linux 😛
version?
linux from scratch is more time consuming then hard
Sheesh
last 4 days
their documentation for how to install it is easy enoughs
or maybe shadow is to deep in the rabbit hole
I'm old school my first Linux and when I did the switch was 1993 the first version of Slackware 🙂
True, but it is time consuming. And after all that, you only end up with knowledge 😛
hannah montana linux is mostly hard as it is unsuported and not updated
Bro stopped cooking
That's pretty cool. I've only done a slackware install a few times. I started with Red Hat Linux 5.0 (pre-rhel days) as part of a college class. There was a restricted lab in the computing building with two SGI workstations (a couple versions on from the Jurassic Park Unix machines) so we snuck in there a few times
dunno how hard gentoo is to use as never tried
Arch came out a few months before Gentoo. Gentoo's thing was that the code would be compiled once downloaded to your system (so it's as efficient as possible). Nowadays you can get pre-compiled executables which makes it the same as Arch in most ways
yeah emerge to compile programs
nice for those people that wanna toggle a lot of compile switches
anybody here tried out Dopus
sounds to be outside shadows age range aio
Never heard of it
I tried red hat, before went full corporate, it was good. I ditched Slack after a couple of years for the lack of packet manager, compile everything from the source it's great way to learn but when you have to maintaining a distro it gets old pretty fast 😂 I used Debian for a long time (I tried different ones along the way) also used FreeBDS, Solaris, SCO
Yeah it's nice if you want to mess with things. Gentoo was how a friend of mine became a Linux expert. He never went to college but ran everything on Gentoo. Then he worked in the Swedish supercomputer centre
supposedly a good file explorer replacement in windows with lots more customization
Hm what type of customizations
Dual panes, dual trees, multiple tabs.
Filter, sort, group your folders. Label and rate your files.
Queued file copies. Powerful batch renaming. Full archive support.
Find your files. Locate duplicates. Synchronize backups.
Assign tags and descriptions. Convert images. Edit metadata.
Fully multi-threaded, native 64 bit high performance code.
Yoo
Yeah I really liked Debian and it was my thing for quite a while but I changed distros a lot back in the day. I used to get free boxes of Ubuntu DVDs and CDs sent to my office to hand out to people. Most people had no clue what those were for
the nerds were happy with them though. Then Mint came out and I had a great time with it. It's my main os pretty much the last 12 years
I love Debian but along the way got stuck in the past, nowadays I use Ubuntu because I had a few issues hardware-wise with the last laptop that I bought, even packages from the non-free section didn't work well and Ubuntu hit the ground running so I kept it.
I broke Mint within the span of 2 days.
I have a Debian vm sitting in standby most of the time to try things out. Mont does all the things my laptop needs it to
It broke vmware for me, so I didn't install it...
How did you get a blue screen on Mint?
well systemd now has blue screens
Funny, I never see them 😛
Me having a question on a room , spend time writing the question on this chat , understand and get myself the answer while writing it, then delete the text before submitting and now writing this explanation for something that you didn’t know, the art of wasting my time and yours for nothing ;)))
hahah you have no idea how common that is here
The benefit here is that by vocalizing the issue differently (typing it out), you approach the problem differently and that was the key to unlock the solution. Very common. 🙂
A tip, just write your thought process or make your notes
helps a lot
Yeah I have to use that trick more often 😉
although try and keep everything organized, I now have over 200 markdown files with my ideas but I can't even organize them
👍
YAY
u got spotify working in terminal?
oh yea
question, does that support global shortcuts
like ur in another window and u press alt + side arrow and it changes to the next song
though for shadow to switch to cmus is super easy
windows key + 1
and tada in the terminal window.... which is mostly idle on cmus
then just hit the key combo
hmm
I got plexamp configured so if I press the arrow keys its my media control
right and left change track
up and down for volume
and for pause me have a weird but easy shortcut
alt + shift + p
Also I try to write the note like they were for somebody else, because it happens a few times that I wrote very cryptic notes that were OK in the moment, but going back a few month later, I couldn't remember what I meant 😂
I do try and do that but it just sometimes get out of hand
once I start writing, like actually writing in 5 min I have about 500-800 words
typing*
btw Rex, u got any violin recommendations
A fast tempo
I like Itzhak Perlman, but IDK if he's your cup of tea
well currently listening to Opera because am bored and listenented to 8,000 tracks of all the artists I like
so will take anything for a change
Ah ah same 😉
ooo, I listened to this guy a couple dozen times already
hes one of the ppl in schindlers list's theme song
He's consider one of the best violinist of the 20th century
I don't think he plays anymore, he must be in his 70s, but I bet you can find his old records on youtube
#musicaclasica #violin #paganini
Esta lista de reproducción está hecha por Rafael Krux. Es un compositor talentoso y creativo, capaz de crear música hermosa que impresiona a los oyentes.

Itzhak Perlman
Haven't listened to Paganini in a long time
well I know what I am doing today
shadow knows that they are going to sleep after finishing a download
meep beep boop sleepity time then
legend
Indeed, he started playing at the age of three, when he was five, he was admitted to the Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, and then he move to US and at the age of 13 he was admitted in Juilliard School
jesus
reminds me I should probably stop buying random things and just save up for a good violin
got shared a cybersecurity course for 500$ by family, opens link sees website for course is too old, clicks wappalyzer and sees its a few wordpress versions out of date
good one are really expensive, only a very few can get their hands on Stradivarius or Guarneri del Gesù 😂 but still the violins for the rest of the mortals are expensive
got a electric violin by yamaha 3.5k$ planned to buy
but probably a few years until I will be able to save up that much
one of the benefits of buying absurdly expensive versions of things you want is that you are going to learn them because you spent too much on it to not learn
I never learn how to play an instrument, but I used to sing in a choir
I was a tenor
I was taught the piano but in a beyond terrible way
I cringe at the recordings of me and my teacher
piano is tough you need to learn a lot of technique, very specific hand positions, speed, etc. Takes a lot of practice and discipline, even been an average piano player
I know, watched too many videos on learning it the past year
to atleast understand a lil of how the piano's played
meepity moopity it is shadows time for sleepity sloopity sleep sloops to the beep boops
bye
I have a friend that she's a decent/average piano player, but she spend most of her childhood siting in front of the piano practising she quit when she realise that she was average and would never make it as a professional, but by then she lost most of her childhood and part of her teens in front of the freaking piano 😂 now kind of hate the piano because of that
I hate swimming & tennis due to those reasons as well
But piano's or any instrument is a art, it shouldn't be forced
I was born in a house with swimming pool and my parents used to play tennis when I was a child so I learned how to swim even before that I learned how to walk 😂 and I tried tennis too, but I never had any ambition on going pro 😂
You still enjoy swimming?
yes
nice
I participated in too many competition's with people who were wayy older than me so I usually lost
question, butterfly or freestyle?
I have never done that, because I don't have the discipline to go through the training to be even consider a minor competition also I'm the least competitive person in the world 😂
Hey can anyone help? I did the Advent of Cyber 2023 and would like to post the cert I got onto my LinkedIn but I'm having trouble with the process
I am too competitive for my own good in things I am interested in
What's the issue?
Managed to go city wide then lost hard while also getting a cut across my leg which I had no idea how I got
I am clueless as to how I will share the cert..I am not finding the file on my cpu either
Funny enough...I have just found it, wow that is something else
I learned how to swim at the age of 2 just because it was needed, for safety reasons. Having a swimming pool at home you need to know how to swim 😂 when I was older my parent send me to swimming lessons so I could learn all the 4 freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Once I learned them I got bored and quit the classes 😂
nice, although didn't know kids could swim at 2 years old
it's more like moving through the water and not drown 😂
hence the classes when I was older to learn the styles and stuff
hmm
did you wear a floater
at the beginning yes, but just for a few months. Then I learned to float and move through water without them. They did the same with my older sister. Even though the swimming pool had protections and my parent always were keeping an eye on us, they did it for an extra peace of mind
nice
then when I was older ( because no swimming school would take a 3 or 4 years old) I took lessons
btw Rex out of context, movie or gaming right now?
not a much of a gamer, I haven't decided yet, movie or maybe do some rooms, while I drink a beer. The only thing decided is the beer thing 😂
hmm for me
Should i watch a movie or play agame
That's personal, depends what you're feeling like, and scratch the beer, too young for that 😂 😛
yea, + beer doesn't taste good
depends on the beer, but you'll have plenty of time to try different kinds when you're legal to do so, or you'll realise that you don't like beer and that OK too, also more for me 😉 😂 😛
eh
it's almost 11:30 pm here I'm heading out I guess it'll be movie because I'm kind of tired. See you!
cya, probably going to watch annihilation or bean
or poor things
mr bean is great movie
agree
Guy on steam gave me a Phishing link to "favorite my CS2 skin"
Throw it in browserling, urlscan, and whois..... 1. Russian 2. Not the "owner" of the skin. 3. Obvious phishing URL.
I responded: "Gone phishing. But ya didn't get a bite. That sucks."
Doing more research. Phone number and address are linked to another scam..... this just keeps getting better and better
Made my night
damn
So was it from Russia or not? It's so popular to blame Russia in everything nowadays.
it's always russia
somebody ate my leftover brisket earlier
clearly them
Well let's see..... .ru in whois, phone number in whois is registered in Belarus/ Russia.... another scam being run by the same .ru email address and Russian phone number in another scam known to scam baiters
So.... yes. Russia.
probably using phone vpn
hello
i wanna learn how to code and hack and stuff like the server said
Probably Russia 😂 Is always Russia, innit?
?
k
potassium to you too 😂
https://tryhackme.com/room/chillhack
I suggest to change the level of dificulty of this room LOL
just for the port forwarding topic
and give a shotout to anuradh
I mean, honestly i was thinking about medium, kinda serious
might do it cause why not
Hi

this is an english only server sry
mmm... do you have a flipper btw?
i mean, you are a dolphin
can we base64?
are there cyber security engineers inside of a submarine?
what is their task there ?
i mean
A military marine mammal is a cetacean or pinniped that has been trained for military uses. Examples include bottlenose dolphins, seals, sea lions, and beluga whales. The United States and Soviet militaries have trained and employed oceanic dolphins for various uses. Military marine mammals have been trained to rescue lost naval swimmers, guard ...

Gave +1 Rep to @uncut cove (current: #2022 - 1)
Down with Daylight Savings Time!
chilling
It's past midnight...I have to wake up early...and I'm losing an hour for no reason.
sleep
It doesn't work like that
hehe, it's 9 AM already at my location
socat and openSSL syntax are stupid HARD
I wish I could command myself to sleep. I have to do 15 minute bursts
if I don't fall asleep in 15 minutes..time to get up for a bit
no they are not, Java does
have you tried counting sheep?
java is ez this stuff is wild
Yes, but the skeleton
Never helped. I actually read about a study recently that concluded counting sheep was worse than doing nothing
hmm interesting
works for me, cause it distracts from other thoughts
I agree with socat being a bit intimidating. Seems overly complex.
I'm sure it works great for a lot of people. It was just some random study but still interesting. I guess for most people it doesn't work perhaps
chatgpt is great for regex help
and yea...I've spent so many hours tinkering with john rules
that's a shame tho
what about concentrating on one's breath? it's a good basic meditative practice
Yea concentrating on the breath can cause the feeling of dullness which can lead to sleep
It doesn't seem to work for me.
I actually was obsessed with meditation for years until I came to the conclusion I'd need to meditate all day for years to get the benefits I wanted...and it wasn't worth all the effort and time. (For me)
you mean your mind keeps wandering or it just doesn't make you feel sleepy?
both
I even did some meditation retreats. It was interesting..don't get me wrong but I think I just suck at it.
as a primarily eastern practice, it centres around the process more than goal
It's hard to accept that whatever the meditation I'm doing is exactly what it's supposed to be
I'm tired so I might not be making sense
no worries
But when the mind does nothing but wander for hours it's hard to accept I'm doing it correctly
yeah probably not, what you are saying seems opposite to concentration
I can set an intention to concentrate on an object
But the mind is a kaleidoscope of thoughts
I also had difficulties with this for years and years and even quit this several times, but then it clicked
You can observe the thoughts and see what happens...but to me it's nothing remarkable
during a transatlantic flight with very little room for legs hahaha
You can read RFCs
lol thats awesome
lol. Actually reading RFC's really will put me to sleep!
I think it's also about being able to wipe them out completely out of your span
I forgot..reading boring stuff really does make me sleepy
So less of a mindfulness practice and more transcendental?
Microsoft Azure Certification training documentation
That legit will put me to sleep.
for me it is, but different people seem to have different approaches and go for something of their own in meditation
I don't know what midnfulness is in your context, but I usually associate it with esoterics, which I'm very sceptical of
actually I never looked at it that way... thank you
Ah yea. I spent literally years of my life seeking various esoteric practices. I've become very skeptical now.
There were a lot of interesting moments though. I will say that
if anyone have free time check#room-help if u want to help
you definitely need to get through the esoteric stuff to experience the full spectrum
which chmod cmd would i run to get the file perms looking like -rwsr-sr-x?
chmod 4777 cant be it lol
I'm down to experience the full spectrum if possible. I do miss certain aspects
6755?
chmod 4xx1?
Think about what exactly chmod command does
And how the permissions work
getting used to the values of evyrhting 😵💫
It's additive, 4 = read, 2 = write, 1 = execute
They're effectively binary flags
Sorry it's early here
if 1 is execute how come 6755 and not 6751?
im getting confused cuz im used to just rwx and not the rwsr adn sr part lol
Or 101 in binary
The s is a bit special
And a special bit 😉
Thats the first number in 6775, and it grants the suid bit to user and group
4 = user, 2 = group, 1 = everyone else
Same principle applies
so with 755 itd be -rwx-rx-rx right? how comw with 6755 it ends up being -rwsr-sr-x?
The 6 sets the suid bit which overrides the x
(but also requires the x)
the permissions order is owner-user's group-every other user right?
Linux perms is something I need to take more time to get a handle on for sure
It's not too complicated 😉
Oh dear
it that ditto?
Bah need to stop referencing things from before you were born I guess 😉
probably iv only looked at a couple of examples abstract from it as a whole in some of the rooms. usually it's just give me a number to use with chmod. probably be easy enough if I take a look at it as a whole.
just remember 50% whatever u learn , coz with time it will grow from 50 to 90
use atttackbox
Number is in octal and represents 3 binary digits
Which are flags for read, write, and execute
attacks box have low ping so its ez to use hydra or network related task
Depends on what you're bruteforcing
oh
So hydra?
u have to reduce the wordlist size then
That may also depend on the server
hi Lucas
guess mine
170?
that's a shame
Might need to make an educated guess
Don't overthink it
Rofl
Go do that
Oh that's old internet
This a thm room?
Probably shouldn't be poking at things you aren't authorized to
maaan I do remember that
ASCII art memes were great
That one too
were they actually memes in modern sense?
Hmm
Good question
Sure, but you may get into some trouble if the site doesn't have a bug bounty program.
Not advisable either.
I mean if the discovery is accidental there's usually some leeway
Not poke around things I shouldn't be
Reporting is always better than not tbh
You're actively editing HTML to get an output.
Some sites get a bit panicky and may shoot the messenger.
That's not accidental.
Like the guy who got prosecuted for decoding base64?
You shouldn't be fiddling with sites without permission
Told him that already
The golden rule
Yup
Was that the "F12 is hacking" scandal?
Yup
depends on the info you decode, I guess
my colleague once called F12 a hacking tool, now it starts to make sense
hey i would love to find someone who could help me learn metasploit i still cant understad RHOST and LHOST and if the my configuration is right or where to test mestasploit in a vulnerable env
hi
There are rooms for metasploit on THM. Answering your question: LHOST is usually the attacker host, and RHOST is usually the host of the target
R is for remote, L is for local
Remote and local relative to where metasploit is running
You need to verify for that
@ashen socket
Hello!
Hi
Morning folks
in the site i see hashcat challenges, but is there a module or something for that?
website broken? keeps loading forever 😕
Morning
Loads for me
where can I ask a question about cryptography
here or in #infosec-general
assuming it is not for a tryhackme room
Sure
my brain be hurting

shadows eye is hurting.... can you make it stop???
Remove the drivers for eyes then re-install
go sleep
and eat some carrots
but it past mid day
big time, I have been working away on CTF
oh nice! you working on the HTB one?
yeee
nice nice how is it
it's really good, as always
my team are doing it but tbh I don't have the energy for anything cybersec this weekend lool
understandable
GL with it 🙂
nice!
ye! I am stuck at some forensics
pain
it's the last 2 forensics challs, hard and insane
decided I'd work on re-working my blog and start actually contributing to it. Don't think i've posted in like 4 years lmfao
i've lost the source code to it so gotta set it up again
😄 big mood
but I see you working on league of legends 👀
yeaaah gotta get some ARAM in
understandable, have a nice day
mates getting me into Dota but it's soo much harder LOL
yeeeeee
morn...
good afternoon
or that yea 🙂
kinda nice. was sleeping for around 10+ hrs. weird felling =/
nice nice. sounds like you needed it
not sure on what planet i am atm but is nice hehe
them ones there
yeah going steady thanks. Yourself?
supposed to be doing some medical shifts today but not feeling 100%. Think i'm coming down with something so better safe 'n sorry etc
reeee, my autopsy module is breaking
Think there is a bug about we cut a holiday short as my partner was starting to come down with.
sorry to hear. Yeah...all sorts going about atm
sorry to hear
it's fine
it's not too bad on my end. More annoying than anything
cause I mean, I didn't have to go to school
I think I'm going escape it again.
Just means I can start the contract work earlier.
but laying in bed with 40C in fever just feels reee
I get super moody when I am unwell
😄 yes yes. Pretty cool you're involved!
I am much too busy and working hard to get ahead of life only to be set back because someone in my house had to socialise 😭
frfr
I went to a conference on wednesday. Pretty sure i've picked something up from there...
SIlly me for wanting to socalise/do things LMFAO
what is LOM MAC Address and Pass Through MAC Address ?
Sup guys, all good ?
as simplified explanation =/
ngl never heard of either. Is that a VM/virtual adapter thing?
ello ello. Yeah not bad here, yourself?
I am good also thanks
Frrr, it’s actually a punishment for caring about your mental health
bios thing something something
hmm I think I heared something about that in Dell laptops
yea. it's dell
the network adapter is built in on the mother board
ahhh as it's bluetooth. Might have something to do how bluetooth interfaces have a MAC address that's from the network adapter?
not 100% sure. not heard of 'em tbh
I do think it is used to have persistency on MAC address, but you might google it if you want to go into details
and pass through has to probably do with virtual machines and passing that through to the vm
heh. i might read more. just never run on it so far
if it's a dell thing your guess is good as mine. I only worked with HP professionally
here, this might help:
https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000143263/what-is-mac-address-pass-through
shadow has started dispising hp due to a few factors
well and some dell poweredges but that's more idrac
bun that
tbh if you afford a Dell for business, it s really good
HPs are pretty good. their business support at least in my experience is .............. pain
I remember when I got told by HP business support to bury a laptop battery cell in the ground when asking how to properly dispose of it LMFAO
friend got this dell Latitude 5420. that one have that bios mac thing
Due to the laptop I got (Hp Zbook) I need to get their business support and they've always been great with me.
business support is always a different food
HP's site engineers were great but nearly all of them worked independantly / contracted in my experience
but aye all just personal experience innit. We had a fair fleet of lenovos and they were amaaaazing
I probably just got a bit unlucky with HP
it s a market and they are fighting for the crown, so they are doing a pretty good job
with lenovo it was all "no questions asked, send it in, we'll fix it, or w'ell send someone out next day" and their response/delivery times was super fast
that s great, I have the same experience with HyperX brand (no laptops related)
PLUS ordering parts for self-repair through lenovo was easy. HP it was like drawing blood through a stone
Hi Ben!
HPs are the lottery of the pcs... If you get a good one, they are amazing, but also rare.... Lenovos are the best
Doing alright!
The thinkpads my school gives work remarkably well
lenovo thinkpads are the best laptops i've ever worked with. From a personal PoV and as a sysadmin. The laptop version of Honda - bulletproof
100%
btw this is not a sponsored ad
😄
they are also pretty durable, I've had my bag chucked around a lot and its managed to survive
(srry laptop)
Would anyone recommen using pwncat (developed by caleb) as part of my toolkit, if I am preparing for eJPT? Or would it be bad cos like everything is automated. Im lost...
Help
got catch them all
pwncat is cool. Would recommend adding as toolkit. But for a cert etc, you're better off knowing how to do things manually. Esp. as some certs restrict "automated" things
some days I just forgot I had a laptop in there but others...well it's a school and you get younger kids being kids 😐
Gotchu thanks
Gave +1 Rep to @lone thistle (current: #7 - 818)
as one of those kids playing football with bags at lunch time back in day....sorry LMAO
we had a powerleague on site. I mean what else were they expecting
Yeah I had to be extra-careful where I put my bag during football games 😂
sign
one time somebody used it as a goal post lmfao
hehehe
absolute carnage
indeed
dear lord. dell have bios option that i never hear that exist =/
and will load kali on usb, but not windows =/
missing efi files???
good old rufus
i try turn off secure boot and things in bios. no help
sigh linux youtuber calling wine an emulator
wine literally stands for:
Wine Is Not an Emulator
well that does not sound good ralex
ill think of some black magicto do boot it 🙂
boot repairs for windows can be done from linux live iso:s
got it... install windows on gpt way 🙂
black magic rox...
windows have stupid list of select time and currency select: Dutch (netherlands) might better to switch names =/
looks alike that wrong py version issue
which version should it be? 3.11?
what ever the newest one is
try 2 and then 3
idk in what version script is written
uuum what are you doing???
considering that you are hitting cloudflare web application firewall???
oof.. that's not THM?
yeah obviously not thm
mea culpa... didnt notice
thm:s rooms don't run behind cloudlfare
@lone thistle
@hasty sand see image above
ben no moderator
oh
what does mod emirtus mean
did i post smt?
he is tryhackme staff so he can help with site issues sometimes but not moderating discord
it is above and posted by swagger
emirtus is a title which means retired, so basically "ex-mod"
sorry to bother you during driving
i see
?
btw... when you get home/free... let me know... need DM you from last convo we had 🙂
Means I used to be a mod. I stepped down.
Also, the URL is blanked so I'm not comfortable helping, nor have I used XSStrike. Looks like the repo hasn't been updated in years so it likely means you need to use a different python version but that's as far as I'll help
generally hitting websites protected by cloudflare creates a lot of problems and is not recommended and nearly always illegal/unethical
what other tools than xsstrike are good for testing parameters for xss?
I don’t see anything, I’m on the highway so I’m going to focus on surviving this trip 😂
hello, is anyone with cheap hacking services?
For?
stay safe
discord acc
i think it was me who posted a image of using xsstrike on a cloudflare website
smh
You know that's illegal right?
@rapid merlin Please don't get involved when someone is asking for something illegal, and yes that is illegal even with permission from the account owner. They can't give you permission to attack Discord.
hmm... dell update BIOS by it self with not question asked =/
but it save last two version in case of rollback/downgrade need
So tired :(
go to sleep
sleep... it's sunday
It’s 3pm
that's correct 🙂
Yuh
Dead season
how
They changed nothing
