if you use THM attack box, or THM kali you do not need to start vpn. since the attack box is installed on thm server
vpn is something alike remote connection from you pc to thm
if you try target some room/task ip without thm vpn you can't access it.

what do you think of red teamers keeping confidential techniques and research from the general public?
in hindsight, its good as these techniques (depending on how trivial it is) can be easily adopted by threat actors. but there also stands the argument that so long as this technique exists, people will discover it.
but is it something bad? should red teamers keep these techniques and research to themselves to stay relevant in the industry?
