So It's regarding iptables, I know not the most advanced form of firewall. I'm setting up a VPN to be protected from malicious attacks using iptables. He said that a VPN server with a 1 GBPS port with iptables alone, can handle a 20 GBPS attack with easy. I tried to explain that the network pipe would clog on the VPN long before the attack reaches the iptables unless the server had outside help from load balancers. This whole convo started because I wanted to buy multiple servers to spread the load so no one server had to deal with it. I host game servers and want to setup my own VPN's too so please let me know who is right.
