To the Kali Linux Dragon
Awe-inspiring amphithere,
I know you are not used to people like me in your presence.
I am a bard among your sorcerers,
though all of your followers are rogues (myself included).
I weave my own sort of magic,
but wish to learn yours as well,
and am already on that path.
Our magic is not that different—
both a poem and a program have lines,
both create from letters and symbols—
just one runs in cyberspace,
and the other,
the mind.
I wish to know how to use your arcane hoard—
Dirb, Arping, Hydra, and more,
the magic treasures you collect,
and bestow upon the brave.

I actually finished 2nd in Sapphire last week but I'm taking a break. I had 1st place for several days, I had a 1500 point lead on the runner up, and then some dude who wasn't even in the top 10 the entire week comes out of nowhere and blasts past me by 300 points in less than 8 hours. Not sure how that's possible, it was so disheartening to lose that because I put a lot of work into getting 1st place. It was basically my only shot at actually placing 1st in a league because once I find myself a job again, there's no way I'll have the time to grind that much 😕

Hi, I can only share this from my own experience, so take it with a grain of salt :)
Before you pick a path, take some time to explore both fields and see which one calls to you the most. I used to be fixated on becoming a pentester but I realised that cybersec is more of a sidequest to me rather than a career.
So take our time, research, experiment and try small projects in both fields if you can. Don't let other people's opinions get to you, or define you (good or bad). At the end of the day, you're the one living your story, not them.
And I know it's hard. Been there too. What helped me, was turning inward, being introspective and figuring out what genuinly feels right for me instead what chasing what others expected. Hope this helps :)
