Hey everyone - I am a pretty regular user and have not had OpenVPN issues in the past. Right now, I can connect without any issues but constantly lose connection to boxes.

I have re-configured my VPN file and re-connected - issue persists. I'm using the west VIP server.

I'd say there is no way to connect to another port. If OpenVPN is listening on port 1194 you have to connect to this port. Why would your router be blocking it, though?

The only way I can think of now is to run your own server with OpenVPN. But not in your internal network, but like a rented one. Then you could connect the server with THM VPN and run your own OpenVPN server on the server, listening to a different port. Shouldn't be to hard to setup, but you have to pay the server

they're all happy with the ISP otherwise - we just made them switch to TCP, but you need to set up another openvpn server that listens to tcp instead for that.

no, tryhackme runs the server and they would need to provide one that uses tcp and/or a different port

it's a german ISP, so probably not relevant unless you live there. we're not sure if they're actually blocking it on purpose or if it's some sort of misconfiguration.

But my own server (outside the LAN) would listen to port 1500 on UDP. This traffic should be allowed by the ISP. And because my server itself is a client on THM VPN, all traffic on their machine subnet is forwarded to them, right? Where's my brainfart here?

an hour sounds like a long time, but that is a fairly massive scan. if you're looking to scan every single port to see if it's open you might be better off using something quicker like rust scan, and then using nmap to rescan the open ports. But you can start by dropping the "-A" flag - scan every port to find the open ones, then rescan the open ports with "-A" if you need that level of information

Ok, usually I can figure these issues out, but I'm at a loss here. Anyone know why I'm getting connection refused when trying to connect to the buffer overflow prep room machine? I can rdp into it, I can ping it, but u can't make the nc connection to actually execute the commands.

For reference I use Ubuntu as my OS, however I tried connecting from my kali vm as well. I've tried regenerating my config file, and terminating the machine several times, but to no avail. I ran an nmap scan against the machine for the hell of it and it appears that the port were supposed to connect to isn't open.

Hello, Im looking to know more about how an AntiProxy/AntiVpn Works

I have been trying to bypass a ban on a game a few week ago, and I saw that they had a system to block VPN's. So At first I was looking to know how to bypass it. But after 2 weeks I just wanna know how the thing is working, so i can see how we could get over those.

Because It's working so well that I don't even understand the point of a vpn if they can get caught so quickly

On my side, I found that some servers, have a list of blacklisted IP's that they identify as VPN, So i tried a dedicated IP but I still got caught in a few second. So it must be somehting more than blacklist of ips

Im totaly new to tryhackme and the CTF itself tbh and i do love it this far (only 30% dont in total beginner this far) but i do have a problem. When i renew my machine and the server im attacking with 1h+ it all works well then suddenly it says "your server have been terminated" then if i renewed it 5 min ago. Well I would not use -A for an initial scan on all ports rather then only use it on the open ports you have found afterwards, if you really think -A is necessary.

Good Morning THM -- didn't know where to post this but for todays AOC challenge, instruction 10.4 tells you to set the attack type is set to "Cluster Bomb" but the attack should be "Sniper".
Just wanted to make sure instructions were updated in case users were having any issues.

@worthy jetty it's not really a secure OS to be used on bare metal, you can instead install a VM hypervisor like VMWare over any other daily-use OS like windows and if the kali OS has any vulnerability, your main OS 'should' remain safe.
Also the ease of using kali on VM outweighs the benifits of installing on bare metal, if any.

Hi, I got a 7 day streak and now i have access to networks my question is: if i lost the streak do i lose the access so do i have to keep a >= 7 day streak to have access to networks?

If you join the Wreath room, you'll have access for a certain number of days (10 I believe). Then you can rejoin (start the network from scratch) at any time without a streak.
