Dear THM tech support, I created a private room on THM and uploaded a VM. When I connect the VM, the IP being assigned to is not accessible. Neither through the VPN nor the Attack machine - browser. Don't rely on the status of the connection on the website. It's more reliable to just open 10.10.10.10 in the browser of the machine where you are connected via openvpn to make sure you are successfully connected to the THM network.

It might be useful to either make a note in the question saying "enter a digit from 1 to x" or accept both answer?

Hello! I want to do the CTF Crocc Crew and I would like to do it with OpenVPN from my Kali Linux but when I try to connect from my VM I get an error saying "Inline certificate is invalid". The IP on top of the page is your own IP within the THM network (So the attackbox IP, or in your case the IP of your own machine connected to THM via openvpn). The attackbox is for people who don't want/can to use their own machine, it's a kali linux which you can use directly inside your browser. So just to keep in mind: green button "Start machine" = the target machine. blue button "Start attackbox" = the web based attackbox to attack target machines with.

Hello, I set up openvpn to get started but even though tryhackme says I have access I cant actually access to the box. When I try to access the box through a browser I just get site unavailable (this is the setup test box so I believe there is a flag on the page to confirm it works). The VPN Server US-East-Regular-1 seems to be generating corrupt .ovpn files (A new config files was regenerated)

Hello All, I am hoping someone can assist. I have searched this forum and found some results, but none are seeming to have the same problem that I am getting. I have having an issue setting up the openvpn config on my Parrot instance. I keep getting the following, and my friend Google, has not been much help. "Cipher negotiation is disabled since neither P2MP client nor server mode is enabled
Options error: You must define TUN/TAP device (--dev)" I also found that If I cat the config file, it is blank? I have done multiple restarts, and config reload, downloads with the same result. Any ideas?

Hello @crystal marlin yes, I started on the US East, had this issue like 8 times, then switched to the US West to see if it would work with the same issues. I just switched back to US East again, clicked regenerate, it said successful, and gave a 10 second countdown. I will wait a few minutes, then download and try again.

Well, what to say, not sure what the policy is on having multiple THM accounts, but if it really means that much to you to have it with your full name, you could create a new account, add your full name to the profile and just copy the answers from the old account into the new account. But like I said, no clue about the policy regarding that, so you might want to check first if it's okay to do so.

I have run the thm-troubleshoot script and followed the instructions without success. after research i think the problem comes from the fact that my PC and server time is not synchronized. i have manually set my PC to the local time (NIGER) without success. the problem still persists Can someone tell me how to make sure that the time on my PC is synchronized with the time on the server?

You wouldnt have missed anything. I dont really like that room for beginners. Without prior knowledge, you wouldnt have known that 3333 was the right port. However, in the top right, you'll see "Help" There is a video walkthrough and some writeups for the room. Those should help!

Hey Guys, I'm new to THM and was wondering if I could get some help. I have a Kali Linux in Virtual box running on the host which is Windows 10 laptop. I have installed openVPN on the Kali and downloaded the configuration file from THM and ran it. I got the Synchronization complete message and I confirmed the tun0 interface after running ifconfig. I then proceeded to the access page of THM and all is connected and well there. After that I went to the openVPN room, deployed the machine and visited the web page and got the connection successful flag. However I issue is, if it is even an issue and that when I open Firefox in Kali and google "whats my ip" it's showing the same public IP as my host machine.

Is this normal if so than all is good, if not is there a way I can fix this, I just want to be sure I am securely connected to THM through openVPN before proceeding with the lessons. Thank you in advance?

When I generate a VIP OVPN file, a certificate is not generated and added to file. So I cannot make a connection to the VIP VPN. I am a paid subscriber.

Ok, So it might be worth deleteing the ovpn file you have. Then go onto THMsite, hover over your profile pic, and on the menu that appears click 'Access'
