I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. So, I have just beginned with the totally beginner path and I am at the linux foundementals (sorry if I misspell words, my english are terrible). I want to download Linux instead of using the attackbox. I want to download Kali Linux and make a virtual machine using Virtual Box.
Question: Where is the image file of Kali for Intel VMs, I can not find it anywhere. I tried to download it from here https://www.kali.org/get-kali/#kali-virtual-machines, but while it was downloading, I saw that it was the AMD version. I am watching a tutorial by network chunk. He says to go to kali.org/downloads, but it directs me to the link I said before.
Anyone who can help me gets a virtual cookie for free.

You cannot decrypt an RSA private key with ssh2john, you can convert it in a format that is suitable for john to crack. So first you take your id_rsa and convert to a suitable format with ssh2john.py. Then you use the output file in John

Here are the things which you can do:

Refresh the page and try again.
If above doesn't work then do a hard refresh with CTRL + F5 and try again.
If above doesn't work, logout then login again and try again.
Switch the servers and wait for sometime and try again if above method doesn't work.

So you are not having issues with the link to the windows OpenVPN software, but you are having issues with downloading the config file from THM? If so, then reselect the server, regenerate the file and wait 3 - 4 minutes before trying to download the file.

You can only do that if the target machine is giving you the option to either ssh or rdp into the machine. But many target machines are not supposed just to connect onto it

So far I tried EU servers...failed. I doublechecked my wifi connections, obviously good since I can get online etc. I tried two different config files, neither of them seem to be the issue. Not sure what happened. I used a wifi adapter yesterday, worked great. I tried adding a vpn but I didnt finish an addition. Not sure if I did this (probably did) or because of my noobiness I broke it

Send a screenshot of your OpenVPN output log^^

If you’re on Linux, run the OpenVPN command in your terminal, wait 5-10 minutes and screenshot the output.

If you’re on MacOS and you’re using the GUI, start the OpenVPN configuration by clicking on it, wait 5 minutes and then press “debug”, screenshot the end of it (try to get as much as you can in the screenshot)

This should be the same for Windows^

@bronze vale I think something is wrong with free US West and East servers. My vpn stopped working this afternoon and when I regenerated another ovpn config , the config came without the ca... moving to West, when I regenerated and tried to download, I got a 404 error in the THM page... it worked for me using EU free server.

the smiplest fastest way to fix that would be to export your linpeas over to a text file i.e. linpeas.sh > linpeasoutput.txt and then read the text file with less linpeasoutput.txt once it finished

but there is a lot of other methods to fix your scrolling and also pipe it to tee you could look into, if you want to know more specifics and cant make sense of googling that, head over to #infosec-general and ask

If you are getting this message, then you are connected to vpn. Jabba was letting me know that it was just a warning and not error, meaning it can occur if openvpn couldn't connect properly (if I am not wrong, or maybe).

This won't happen while you are connected in the midst.. but warning can appear if there if it couldn't connect to it properly.

Anyone else have trouble trying to setup immunity debugger with mona? Been trying to figure this out for 2 days with no success, going to use a lifeline lol. Thanks in advance for any help, much appreciated! Im working on buffer overflow in the brainstorm room. The only way ive learned to do this is with immunity and mona which was provied in a preconfigured machine in the last room. This brainstorm room does not provide a preconfigured machine so i tried installing immunity on my vm kali and windows 10 laptop with no success . Ive googled and tried everything i can think of and cant get mona working with immunity debugger on either system. i keep getting errors when trying to use mona commands. Any ideas?

If you need help to room related stuff I would suggest to use #room-help . But to clear your question, the linux fund rooms got updated, so probably that's why you see something different.

Well he is just demonstrating and he probably is on his own machine to do so. So it doesn't matter if it's looking differently then the picture in the room, it's just a different amount of files in this folder. But the files you should look for are just the ones he also highlighted on his machine and are also present in the picture of the room.

The questions are there just to check your understanding.

Then, task 4 is where you will use the machine.

To access the room's website, just take the IP Address and paste it into the kali machine's browser.

#

After that, you try to use what you have learned, along with help from some of the information, to craft payloads and eventually hack the machine 🙂

Honestly, you said you're new to TryHackMe and hacking.
I didn't really do any XXS payloads until I was familiar with how TryHackMe works.

All that room requires you to do is pretty much read the information and answer some questions:)

If that's all you wanna do, then pretty much that's all you need to know.
But if you're planning on using the platform more, I would 100% recommend doing at least pre-security.

Especially because those payloads require you to understand Linux in order to exploit a machine.

I completed the Vulnversity task through the tryhackme integrated browser machine but when i try to do it in VM kali, netcat won’t pick up anything from the .phtml file i uploaded - it’s stuck on listening but can’t hear anything i’m guessing it’s an issue caused by the VM or the ovpn file since i managed to successfully run the reverse shell in browser

But when i check the 10.10.10.10 i can see i entered the right IPs
