I was having some trouble with the upload vulnerabilities room. With burpsuite on and the proxy enabled, the page at java.uploadvulns.thm wouldn't load at all, so I couldn't intercept anything from it or modify anything sent to it. This was from my own linux machine that was connected over the vpn; when I tried it in the attack box, it worked just fine. Why would it not work from my machine, but work just fine from the AttackBox?

I just earned my certificate for completing the complete beginner track. I generated the certificate and saved it and then thought if I went into my profile and added my full name and regenerated the certificate again it might show my full name instead of handle. I figured the one with my handle on it would be useful for social media but the one with my full name on it would be good for linkedin. But when I did that, it doesn't put my full name on it. Nothing happened to your VM. It was an issue with the VPN connection, which the T hosted attackbox or kali don't use.

@quartz thicket i dont know about the task but the query you said belongs in a html body rather than a URL because when you use <a href>"something"</a>. the content between a tags create a hyperlink with "something" as a word being reflected on the page. when you click it, then you get redirected. SO in short, if you want to redirect then find a way to inject the code into the body and not URL. thats my opinion though

Hello, can I get help please.
I'm doing the nmap room from the beginner path, and when trying to ping the deployed machine it's not up, also when trying to run ftp script the results specify that the host is not up and tell me to use -Pn switch, after using it, I don't get any information on if i can connect through ftp on port 21, mind you that I used -vv switch.
I think the problem is that the machine isn't really up, so can someone help me with that please?

It's describing the error to you, that's basically the error code and the thing you need to google. Just copy and paste that line from your terminal. Copy in terminal is ctrl+shift+c, and paste is ctrl+shift+v.

Hello, im having various issues with different tasks. Im using wsl2 with kali, running vpn on the host or directly in kali, doesnt change my issues. I've tried the same commands with the browser-based kali you offer, and their they work perfectly. For example the mounting command from networkservices2 fails: "No Permissions" also networkservices1 ftp commands dont work. I couldnt find any information on the forum, regarding wsl2. I've done a few rooms now and every time I've had to navigate to an IP address with the machine's firefox browser the load times have been unbearably slow. Think ive found a little bit of a security issue not sure if it would be anything the site would be interested in but wanted to double check. When using the openvpn it is said to be used on the site to protect your IP address but it only works within the site. Ive found that using another VPN at the same time as the openvpn stops some of the content from working (i dont know if this is intentional or might be something to do with both vpns using class A private addresses). However because of this it means i have turn off my main vpn to use the machine. The possible security issue comes with the fact that newbies like me need help with different content and so i use the write-ups however these are all on different websites so I am guessing that when im use the write ups the openvpn will no long be hiding my IP address. An easy fix for this would be to have the write-ups base on the THM website. If there is a way I can fix this i would appreciate any advice.

for your openvpn, you can try regenerating the config file or change servers depending on your location. Not sure on the terminating open boxes, you should just need to go to a recent room and terminate them or they should timeout. If you verify you can share a screenshot of the vpn errors as well.

Depending on the room you are completing you will then either need to scan the ip using tools like nmap or if there's a web app you can connect using your browser. (sometimes web apps aren't on the original port so you'll need to scan for it)

Can someone help me with an issue that keeps happening over and over? I extend my time by an hour on my attack box and the target. But time ends as if I didn't do this even though it shows that the time is 1 hr + remaining on the timer. It is really frustrating when you are down to a few moments to complete room/module. Am I doing something wrong? I work around it by terminating boxes when I finish a topic and sign off. Then I sign back on so I will get full time again on my attack box. But sometimes it takes me longer in an area so not a great work around.

I have a paid subscription for well over a year now, however I sent a couple of emails in the past where I never got a response for, what is the best way to contact support/admin when encountering any technical issues with the site in general, I almost lost my streak due to a silly site issue where rooms wouldn't load at all and just circulate through without output... Make sure you've edited your hosts file, that it doesn't have duplicate entries, and that you're using http://, not https://

first, you have to find which process is using that port (forgot the command offhand- some googling should turn it up quickly), then just do a:
sudo kill <PID>
where <PID> is the process id

just FYI, something curious happened while I was at the Network Services room, my hacking streak was 13, and suddenly I answered the first question of task 4, and my streak was set back to 1, I refreshed the browser, and I had my 13 hacking streak back (which is the correct one), just odd that this happened

Hello, I have just subscribed and joined this world of tryhackme.com, incredible!
However, I have set up my OpenVPN successfully with both EU-VIP-1 and EU-regular-2 and successfully connected to both the http://10.10.10.10/ and the task 6 check you are connected https://tryhackme.com/room/openvpn .
But when i try to enter the Network and Services Task 3 Enumerating SMB - machine (title polosmb3) i get ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED in chrome. Any idea what could be the problem? I seem to be connected to tryhackme.com but this machine wont work...

And I can discover it using nmap from my computer and the attack box but there is a service running on port 3128 which I can't figure it's version using nmap from my computer but I can from the attackbox. Also there is a http service(serving a website) running on port 3333 which I couldn't access it from my computer but I can access it from the attack box. Also I tried to change my vpn server a couple of times but with no luck. So if anybody ever encountered this issue or have any idea how to solve this(I would like to do every thing from my computer), help me solve this issue please?

If you can perform a port scan, the vpn connection seems fine. Nmap got a response from that port the very reason it is flagging it as open. Might be some issue with something else
