Lol you are too quick to jump to conclusions while being totally clueless about what happened. You talk as if I (unethically) hacked into THM and accessed that private room. I was working through the already available/public volatility room last week and the next day I had lost all my tabs so I tried to go to that room manually by just typing in room/volatility in the URL which actually took me to this private room. The public volatility room has room/bpvolatility URL which I got to know later. And then after completingbpvolatility room, I decided to also complete this other room/volatility that I had accidentally come across. This was the very first time I had stumbled upon a private room like this. How was I even supposed to know it was private room? It looked just like the other rooms with nothing at all different in any functionality nor was I shown any alerts/notifications that I was accessing a private room. I don't go checking how many days old a room is when I'm solving it so how am I supposed to know that? I managed to complete the room that same day and then realised it was not showing room name in my dashboard and nor had I gotten any points from completing it.
Then I came here to ask about it and I also told the room creator @cryillic about this. And it was then that I got to know that that room was not released to the public yet.

Now, why did you ban me from that room without first talking to me about it?
If your own misunderstanding was enough for ban then you are abusing your mod rights.

And if the room is supposed to be private and if users can get banned from accessing them then may be don't rely on just URLs for deciding public/private because that's a huge technical flaw in THM design. Or at least make it obvious that the room is private by either not accepting answers or showing some kinda notifications so us users can know that we are not supposed to access them.

If I have full access to a router outside my network, is it possible to capture all packets from that router through something like wireshark from my home network, or would I have to be connected directly to capture all the traffic?

I don't think you would be able to use wireshark in it remotely (not easily anyway). But some routers have in built capture capabilities or you could use some kind of DNS based filter like Cisco umbrella (but that is a paid service)

Hey all.

I've been having this problem for a couple months now.

When I have a VM set up as bridged network interface, I can ping machines in rooms, but nmap fails to run, saying hist is down.

When I have NAT adapter I can't ping machines, but nmap runs until about 42% and then starts slowing down, with a full scan from that point on a single machine taking 2-3 hours

Any ideas?

Hey, I was trying to upload a VM .ova. During the process, my internet got disconnected and after reconnecting the upload stopped. So I refreshed the page, with the idea that I would upload the file again.

Now I'm stuck in this loop on the upload page where an error message saying "You are already uploading. Please wait for this upload tocomplete. If this is an error, click reset your upload."

When I click the button, it basically just refreshes the page.

I can't get a reverse TCP shell to work, I can get them to work from two VMS on a host only network. But on Nat with the VPN I can't get it to work on the room machines, tried two so far.

I've tried lhost set to tun0 and eth1 both didn't work for me, tried a couple different payloads.

Do I need to do some form of port forwarding on my router?

I changed the host machines wifi from my home network to my phones hotspot

I uninstalled Metasploit and reinstalled through the Rapid7 site.

Installed ufw and ran ufw disable

When did you get it? Have you tried establishing a fresh session? Have you checked that your clock is showing the correct time? Have you regenerated and redownloaded your VPN file from the site? Have you tried switching VPN server and regenerating your file? Make sure you're only running one connection

I will add that the complete beginner path has great foundational information, and the interactive LAB's offered by THM's setup is a LOT easier than doing it yourself to practice hands on which is where the real value of the platform is

If I try to start this machine it will be give a "Starting Machine. Please Wait" notification but not actually deploy. My Attackbox has a similar behaivor although at this stage it actually shows the IP at the top but refuses SSH connections (opvenVPN is setup correctly)

Hey, I have a problem connection to the ||THROWBACK-FW01|| in the Throwback room. All other machines in the room work. I can also scan the server, no problem.
The reason why I write this in here is, because I think that's a problem with the VPN connection. I had the same problem with the normal VPN (not the network one) and I was able to fix it by tweaking the MTU size. Sadly this didn't work this time.
Any idea what else I could try?

Hello guys, I am having some problems with my Try Hack me experience in the site.
So, a few days ago I was able to deploy and start a Machine. From yesterday until now I can't really start a machine, it just says "Your machine is going to start in a few minutes" and it doesn't start or boot.

I have tried different browsers, incognito mode, cleaning the cache, even different computers and different users and it just doesn't work.

The cyber defense path and Osquery - several others and myself are having the same issue - we've finished all the rooms available in the path, list shows that osquery needs to be done still (as well as Autopsy), but neither are ready. Osquery is showing the "Coming soon!" message for quite some time already. Could you either remove it from the requirement of the path, or open it up already? Any ETA available?
