Your streak is calculated by your local time zone, however the day for activity is calculated by THM's timezone (Europe somewhere, I dunno the exact offset off the top of my head, but it looks like UTC based on other API responses), so if you complete something after midnight THM time, it'll show up on activity for the next day, which your browser won't show yet. It will still count for your streak for the day you completed it, though.

If you pop open dev console and check the response to https://tryhackme.com/api/questions-answered, you'll likely see events for tomorrow's date, but the page won't display them til tomorrow for you locally.

i think I may have found a problem, when I stop the openvpn command with CTRL+C, it still says im connected when i run ip a/ifconfig, so i think the connection is not actually being stopped, because now I have 3 instances running for it

i fixed it by turning off the interfaces it kept running for some reason, thanks for helping me though!! 🙂

UPDATE: Works now.

Solution: Deleted the openvpn user, purged all files of openvpn and redid everything. Apparently recent system upgrade broke openvpn.

Some machines take longer to start, also machines for non-subscribers are of less resources.

Hence comparatively slow.

Are you running any sort of brute force on the machine? Like FFUF/gobuster/hydra etc

if there are no issues with vpn, then have you tried using different browser? Are you using double VPNs? e.g. Using one normal VPN(proton/nord) on the host(where you are getting the internet from) and TryHackMe VPN on main machine

Also, I have noticed this issue is you use custom DNS provider, like cloudflare, 0.0.0.0

Your browser saves variables like viewport size, colors, and caches (saves for easier loading) certain scripts.

But sometimes the cache saves the wrong data, leading to display issues like you saw.

FYI, consistantly for me (different rooms/different days within rooms) extending the deployed machine time fails. The time gets updated but the machine ends anyway. Just putting that out there. Extending MyMachine does work. It just happened to me in the Advent of Cyber 2 room, on day 5.

Ok, in my AVG alerts it says "Threat Blocked: We've safely aborted connection on tryhackme.com because it was infected with URL:Blacklist"

I added an exception for tryhackme.com in my AVG exceptions list and made sure AVG was started. Things appear to be working just fine now! Thanks for the advice!

Not sure if this is the correct room for this question but I've run into this issue in a variety of rooms and I'm not super proficient with linux so I feel like I'm missing something obvious. I'm attempting to stabilize a shell after importing the pty using python (copying a @sage plover video). After I background the process and run the stty raw -echo command and then bring it back to the foreground then I lose the ability to type properly into the terminal i can't even CTRL+c to close the reverse shell and I have to close the terminal and reopen it. I'm thinking that I must be using the wrong commands for the version/type of terminal i have but I'm not sure how to figure it out.

connecting with the vpn shouldn't take more than a few seconds, if it is taking longer, waiting will most likely not help. The point in it is to try another server that might have less load on it

Hey guys... i have a major problem, i forgot my BIOS password so i'm not able to enter the boot menu so i can install Linux again.
I already tried every possible way i could come up with, like removing battery, shorting the board, and so on... Then i contacted the developer of the motherboard(MSI) and they tell me, that it is impossible the reset the BIOS password.
So i do not in believe that, what do you guys think?
And any suggestions is appreciated, was thinking of a BIOS Rootkit but again i'm just a noob.

In the Windows PrivEsc room I just can't open a rdp session on the machine. The attack box just gives me an error message and my own machine will initialize the session and see something for a few seconds and then fails with an error, then I need to re-deploy the machine to be able to connect again.. anyone got an idea how to establish the rdp session?

I have one small question: When accessing the Alfred room, my AV flagged it as malicious. I have screenshots, but not more info, unfortunately.
Today it doesn't seem to be the case
Is it normal? I have the 'malicious' url, if it's of any use, but not the actual request / response unfortunately, since when I started using burp to analyze that request, the AV was not flagging it anymore.

At one point other machines were open, that is true. I then noticed, and closed them. It's still the same. I just open a new machine to try that last time. I will go and re-check now though. And go through the whole thing again.

I'm getting the same error message with: ssh shiba1@<IP ADDRESS> and with the password. I also tried shiba2 and it's password. Linux Fundamentals Part 3, Task 1, is to SSH into the room. I was able to SSH into Parts 1 & 2 over the last few hours with no issue. But every user and password I use now (in Part 3) gives the same error.

Hey! Yes there is a slide-out tray on the attackbox that you can use to access things like function keys and share clipboards (copy and paste) between the attackbox

@clear anvil delete your old config file . Go to the access page and regenerate your file , then go on downloading it . Make sure you are not in a region which blocks openvpn . 🙂
