I saw somewhere that they were going to try and roll out username changes on the consumer side some point this year. Not sure how soon soon is here. Like I said - not dire. Would just be a thing of convenience. Other priorities come first for sure.

I seem to have some problems with metasploit. Every time i try to run an exploit it says the exploit completed but a session shell was not opened. When I boot Kali as my OS or in-browser on THM I do not have this problem. I am primarily using Ubuntu 20.04 on my computer and metasploit-framework Framework: 5.0.101-dev-. I tried reinstalling MS on my Ubuntu OS but I have the same problem. Anyone know anything about this?

So I'm trying to do Ignite, I can establish the exploit connection, but something isn't working with the exploit. Instead of getting the output from the command I'm inputting (whoami doesn't give www-date, ls doesn't list contents) I get system or systemsystem.... repeating the number of times I've attempted to use a command. Searching the CVE+the issue just brings up CVE details, and I'm not seeing this as an issue encountered in the guides.

I just went through this about an hour ago . I was using a deployed machine from a different room.

Making sure I deployed the machine from the link in the linux room and then grabbing another config file is what fixed my issue

hi guys i am having a problem connecting to my first machine through ssh.
yesterday i was working in kali and tried to login but received an error as on the image so i tried it again on putty but i am getting the same error sadly. i tried editing the ssh and sshd files and set the passwordauthentication to yes and i uncommented it but it didnt help.

Ok this is getting frustrating. I am trying to run gobuster and dirbuster on the CC: Pen Testing room and I keep getting a time out error. I can get about 3% of the scan done before the server starts to time out. I've reset my VPN and reset the box multiple time already. Is there anything else I should look at doing

Hello all, I've been having problems with connecting with the Box IPs of the rooms I've been trying to accomplish. In both the Metasploit Red Primer room, and the Vulnversity room, while I can get by the nmap scan problem of the host being down with -Pn, when I have to do the icecast exploit in Metasploit or the gobuster scan in Vulnversity, the session never gets created in the former, and gobuster cannot connect in the latter. Any help? I've definitely had my values correct in the metasploit room (lhost, rhosts, reverse_tcp etc...), anyone able to help?

Hello
I am able to connect to the machines but they seem to be very slow and connection to the fails regularly
For example i am able to access the webpage at a time but after 2-3 mins when i try to request the same webpage it fails. After a few tries it gets back up? any reasons for this or am i the only one who has this issue. I'm a free user currently

It could be related to a problem with Putty. You can try uninstalling, reinstalling it. Optionally, you can try to use the built-in ssh feature in Windows. It looks like you're probably trying to do /zthlinux, which usually recommends downloading PuTTY.

If you want to ssh into a server using PowerShell/Command Prompt, you would do it similarly as PuTTY.

ssh user@ip

Don't rely on pinging a box to test if it's responding. Not all machines ping back. Namely Windows boxes.

Having issues with my nmaps scans while connected through OpenVPN. When I do a scan on to a deployed box with an IP of 10.10.109.* I get filtered return on my namp scans.My current open vpn ip is 10.13... I tried a traceroute and the results were the following

I am trying to do the mini ctf in the web fundamentals. In the ctf it wants us to curl the webpage. I connected to the vpn and verified it then got the machine ip. In terminal I user curl http://10.10.169.191:8081/ctf/get after pushing enter it just sits there and nothing happens. Any idea if I am doing something wrong with the command or is there something I can check to see if I can get full connectivity to the webpage?

Hi I'm having an issue SSHing into the Basic Pentesting box. Freezes after putting into the password. It prints a but of the connection text then just freezes.

omg lol. I thought it was over. So, this is strange. It SSHed fine in Windows. But when I tried it in my VM running Kali (after turning off my Windows openvpn and downloading a fresh config in Kali) so I had access to hash tools etc... it froze again, and now it won't work in either?!

Something definitely isn't right. A failure in your VM shouldn't be affecting your core OS like that. I'm leaning towards it has to be something networking related. You can try updating Windows to see if it's a Windows problem. It could be a stupid bug that got fixed and you haven't downloaded, yet. You can also try rolling back your VM or installing a new machine in a separate tab. But the common denominator is that both fail when one fails, so I would target Windows first.

went to my Kali terminal, typed "sudo service ssh status" and it said it was disabled/Active: Inactive. Then typed in "sudo service ssh start" and it activated
