First, I have no method of showing evidence for this but for the Topic Recap https://tryhackme.com/recap/69aa3b855808b23aa1c6b26f will not accept the correct answer unless it is a specific location. I can provide a screen shot to show more information but it is dififcult to explain in messages . Suffice it to say the correct answer is listed 3 times, for one of three tools, but it only counts as correct if you choose a specific line for the answer. For example, line 1,2, and 4 all have the same information but line one's tool will only mark correct if line 2 answer is selected--regardless of all three lines being the same answer.

i had vpn issues, and fixed em. i'm sharing, just in case it can help yall :)

1. connect to the vpn as you'd normally do:

sudo openvpn [.ovpn config file]

2. locate the ip route that causes an issue with the target ips (that's the hard part ;) )

run ip route.

what you see is the list of default routes.

one of em is defining how to access thm target's IPs. You'll see that it has the range of thm's target ips, in that case "10.0.0.0/8". for me it was:

10.0.0.0/8 via [my router's ipv4] dev wlan0 metric 200

3. remove that route

sudo ip route delete [the line we found earlier, without the metric]

so, in my case it was

sudo ip route delete 10.0.0.0/8 via [my router's ipv4] dev wlan0 (we removed the metric 200)

4. add a new route

now, our computer has no way to know how to access 10.0.0.0/8 range. we need to tell him "access it through my vpn's interface (in my case tun0)":

sudo ip route add 10.0.0.0/8 dev tun0

and that's it, you should now be able to access your room's ip.

I'm running a Kali Box and using the OpenVPN premium to connect. I often lose connection with my target box which is super frustrating when I'm running scans and attacks. I don't have this problem with AttackBox but I'm trying to learn to do everything from my own Linux box. Any suggestions?

405 usually means the endpoint doesnt allow the request method you are using Try switching the request from GET to POST in the Python script If it still happens reset the target machine in TryHackMe

Use the TCP VPN config more stable than UDP
Add keepalive 10 60 in the .ovpn file and also Run slower scans
Keep a constant ping to the target to maintain the tunnel
Disable sleep or power saving on your laptop

Just noticed a weird thing happen when I was in the "Pickle Rick" room. I identified the username for the web application login and I was brute forcing the login using the Burp Suite. Not sure what happened suddenly but the AttackBox got stuck. And when I refreshed the page, the 2nd and 3rd questions were marked complete along with the answer. This doesn't usually happen unless I manually key in the answer and hit submit.

This is a known TryHackMe issue sometimes points dont show immediately due to server or leaderboard glitches Your room completions are usually recorded but the league display lags Support is often slow to respond Logging out then in , clearing cache or checking your profile points can help

I've rolling out a fix to the AttackBox to resolve the issue that you were having, I think it's just taking a little bit of time to copy across regions (I.e. Asia)

Basically, they're different machines. The AttackBox is on a slow roll out that uses a whole new system, you just happen to be caught up in it 😅 fixing some teething problems!

The new AttackBox uses DCV which is it's own seperate thing to other machines - which is what we're slowly rolling out

I noticed that the AttackBox no longer uses VNC to connect. After checking the browser console, it looks like the issue is related to WebGL, which I have disabled.

Is there any way on the site to change the AttackBox settings? For example, whether it uses a graphical interface or whether it connects via VNC or SSH?

On the other hand, I’ve set up a VM on my PC to work on some exercises and challenges in the meantime, so no worries — I’m covered for now.

I moved on to do the "Phishing Unfolding" SOC Sim scenario. Got done triaging ~30 alerts, exiting frequently and saving my progress throughout. Triaged the entire attack chain of the main event of the sim and was just clearing up the last remaiing false positives when it crashed. Even though I had saved my progress multiple times throughout the sim it woped all of my progress and started over when I clicked the scenario again. Has happened now on both Chrome and Fire fox. Anything I can do to fix this or is it THM issue? extremely frustrating as it makes the SOC sim completely useless to even attempt if I cant complete it and get feedback from the room.

Hi, can someone help me with THM on mobile? Specifically on my tablet. The issue I have exists on the AttackBox and any virtual machine on the website in general. The mouse input in the tablet does not work properly, the mouse cursor only moves when you press down on the mouse with M1 or M2 and does not work with touch at all.

This makes it really cumbersome to operate and makes it really difficult to learn on the go with my tablet, mouse, and keyboard setup

I wish I can use my laptop but it's one of those heavy 3kg gaming laptops and it's not really practical to bring

Hello, I am having trouble with the VM on Mac OS (Safari). Every time I start it, I get the following error in a red window: "thmVNC encountered an error: null is not an object (evaluating 'autofillFieldData.autocompleteType.includes'). Hai guyss, So I was learning Burp Suite Basic and trying to follow Task 11 (Easy Option).
But when I got to that part, an authentication pop-up suddenly appeared.
It said that the login keyring wasn’t unlocked and asked for a password.

it was an issue on my side for my case. It worked in icognito so i searched for what could have been the issue, I had setup a regex for froxyproxy to take any subdomains for *.tryhackme for a previous room and i have burp off right now so it was just dropping all requests. Hi Anyone know how I go about pasting the raw shellcode from the attackbox to the windows Target, I am not sure if there is a limit on clipboard size but it doesn't seem to work. I can do 10 lines at a time but does anyone else have this issue? Getting tedious and absorbing my learning time trying to troubleshoot. Tried different browsers, terminated machines and restarted. Hi all. On the "Subdomain Enumeration" room, when running ffuf for the vhost, the first sudomain I get is 'api'. I eventually get 'delta' and 'yellow' but the order is wrong. Did I do something wrong or does the room's answers need to be updated?

Hey there,
When you first launch the Attackbox, you can click on the two arrows at bottom right corner of the split screen to launch the AttackBox in it's own tab/window. You can then close the Split window by clicking the - in the AttackBox Split window to close it and then resize the new tab/window to what ever size you want.

Hi, I'm a Pro subscriber having a major issue with the CAPA: The Basics room. The Windows VM crashes within minutes every time it boots — Task Manager showed 42% CPU at idle before I'd even opened anything. When following Task 2 and running capa.exe it hard crashes immediately. I've spent 2+ hours on this and cannot progress. The VM appears to be under-resourced for the tools it's supposed to run.
