It's great that you're conducting a survey on this. I use the VPN all the time, and I have issues unfortunately.
The connection is usually lost after just a few minutes of inactivity (I guess maybe there is a policy in place I don't know). It's not convenient, I have to reconnect all the time. I use tmux to make it a bit less annoying but I still have to reconnect to the VPN, then SSH again, then attach tmux... Not ideal.

It's been a while, but I think you are supposed to give it a SMBDomain as an option in that room (in your second pic the SMBDomain is a "."). Try enumerating the target with enum4linux or any other smb enumeration tool and see if you can find one.

Hi, I’m having trouble connecting to the THM using VPN.
The thm-troubleshoot script shows:

  • Internet, OpenVPN, tun0, routes — all good
  • Region matches VM region (tried switching too)
  • Can’t reach VPN server 192.168.128.1

Hi everyone, I was taking my SAL1 certification exam today and I experienced a major issue. I had excellent scores in the first two parts (190/200 and 385/400), but during Part 3, the site went down completely for about half an hour.
Because of this outage, I couldn't access the materials or submit my answers, resulting in an automatic 'Fail' with only 15/400 in the final section. I see from DownDetector and other users here that this was a widespread server issue.
I have already sent an email to support, but since this was a technical failure on the platform's side, I would like to know how I can have my attempt reset or my progress restored. It’s very disappointing to fail an exam due to server instability after so much hard work. Any guidance from the staff would be appreciated!

On the last room, closing notes theres a challenge, but when i press "start machine" nothing happens, no split-screen or blue button at the top for split screen. Yesterday I was working on a lab with a friend. I was using the VPN option and using my own device and Linux set up for the lab, he was using the attack box.

In the lab “RootMe”, you find a directory to upload a file to. You’re supposed to upload a php file that includes a reverse shell. I uploaded the file (after not working many times I looked at a walkthrough and copied the steps exactly), set up a listener on the port I chose and executed the php file. The first couple of times I tried to make a connection, the listener wouldn’t pick it up, then the last two times I tried, the php file just opened a new webpage as if the file was a text file and still did not connect to the listener.

After this, my friend tried on the attack box and got the shell on the first try.

Is there a reason this would work on the attack box and not on my own machine? I confirmed VPN connection, made sure the reverse shell had the correct IP, etc. but it was never able to connect unless it was done in the attack box.

Hello guys, I'm started the basics not so long ago and I'm at the following:

Room: Networking Secure Protocols
Task 8: Closing Notes

When I click the "Start Machine" button, the machine starts but there is no Split-Screen view. And I don't see this blue "Show Split View" button at the top of the page.

Note that the Split-Screen view works in other rooms, it doesn't work only for this task.
Could somebody help me with that?

Hello. First time poster. I recently joined TryHackMe (premium subscription) but am familiar with the subject matter,. I am trying the Greenholt Phish (Premium) Room (PhishingEmails5 v1.1-badr // https://tryhackme.com/room/phishingemails5fgjlzxc), and when I launch the AttackBox, the wrong AttackBox keeps booting. This VM that does not match the room features a different desktop/UI and tools thatare not for email investigations; it's got Burp, Metasploit, and other red-team tools. I did get the right box to boot on the third try, but it had no browser connectivity for WhoIs, VirusTotal, etc. I told the Echo bot and it said to inform customer service. I tried again the next day and the wrong box is still loading.

So I frequently get the wrong VM for the Greenholt Phish Room, but when I do get the correct VM with the email sample, Thunderbird, etc., it has no web connectivity, so I cannot upload suspicious files to VirusTotal or similar, which seems to be the solution and what the Echo bot says I should do.

Does anybody have any experience with the wrong VM booting, one that does not match the room? Or a VM that does not connect to the public internet and tools that it seems like you are supposed to use in that scenario?

(I have cleared cache and cookies.)

Hi, I had already done this room : https://tryhackme.com/room/breachingad ("Breaching Active Directory"), but I wanted to do it again as it is interesting. So I reset progress, left room and stared it all over, but the Attack Box does not connect to it's network, there is no "breachad network adapter." and I am unable to ping network 10.200.70.x. I also cleared browser's settings and tried again, but I am unable to get it up working. It there a way to re-do the "Breaching Active Directory" room? thanks.

Yes, it was just a couple of hours before the end of the week, but it would have been in the middle of the night where I live so I couldn't improve my score very much.

I had hardly done anything because I felt so unmotivated with the wrong tier. So, no first place, but I pushed myself into the promotion bracket and was promoted to the correct tier for this week.

If I knew I would be moved back to the correct tier at the end of last week I would have collected more points and maybe I could have swooped in to get my 1st place badge!
