actually, this room's VM has a reverse proxy url.. not the IP.. the URL does not work along with the protocol https the room instructs to use.. but goven URL does not work only with IP.. the url is not the place holder.. the url is the reverse proxy url given after the machine is booted and placeholder updated.

There seems to be a frontend issue with https://<url> placeholder replacement for new infra. For now, if you are connected to VPN or are on AttackBox, you should be able to use http://<machine_ip> (note http not https) as you said. This applies for all https://<url> (reverse proxy URLs) in task content.

If you have been migrated to new infra (pretty much everyone now), 10.10.10.10 will not longer work for connectivity testing. That IP will not be reachable. However, you should be able to reach any target VM you start.

Well this is disappointing, with 46 minutes left to complete my Weekly Mission! Answer 19/19 Questions - done; Start Virtual Machine - done; and Complete Rooms - 1/2. Trying to complete 'Data Integrity & Model Poisoning => Task 4: Model Poisoning - Challenge. Continue to get "504 Gateway Time-out" => not good. Hello. When I run a VM for a task, the thing keeps logging out (with the screen reading "waiting for the Local Service Manager") and logging back in ad nauseum. I presume it must have something to do with the updates done to the VMs.

So I have to stop the VM and run it again in the hopes it runs better next time but then it eventually has that hiccup again and just constantly logs out and back in again.

You should be able to access 10.48.0.0/12, as your VPN should be setting a route, for example mine below:

the IP I gave was of the Django room we were working with earlier: it seems to be down by now Context for that one:

• you could access it with the browser of THM AttackBox
• you could not access it when browsing through THM VPN, hence my suggestion to use that curl coomand

That is intentional. It should still route and work correctly connecting to target VMs.

The VPN server should be providing you with an IP address like 192.168.x.x.
You should then be able to ping the VPN server on 192.168.128.1 and get a response.
The server will automatically push routes for the relevant 10.X.X.X subnets for your region and you should be able to reach target VMs.
Pinging 10.10.10.10 will no longer work. Due to this, the VPN troubleshooting script will also currently not work. Just checking if we can update it in some meaningful way.

If the VPN server gives you an IP address like 10.X.X.X, this is an outdated VPN server, please download a new config from https://tryhackme.com/manage-account/access.

In the new setup you must use the VPN server of the VM region you have set in https://tryhackme.com/manage-account/access, otherwise you will not be able to reach VMs in other regions.
Note: Network rooms (where there is a network diagram at the very top) use their own VPN configs and servers that you can download separately on the same page.

When doing this, there is an error at .ovpn generated related to auth.user… fyi . I was in the need to remove line 10 and replace to a link for the .ovpn read the credentials for it from an external file…. So, looks like your updates broke all… an it was amazing no replies are provided helping people… I am a premium user an thinking to go to the other company as they help any time… so hope this is fix by today when I finish my work and go to study… otherwise, will cancel the subscription and request a refund. the thing about the MTU is that it is dependent on network conditions, meaning all the bits of network put together between your place and the destination
and some portions can change from one day to another, as network operators reconfigure things (failure, maintenance, upgrade)
and of course, THM have been doing lots of changes, hence that may affect the MTU now when it did not before

Sometimes I can type for a maximum of 15 seconds, but then everything freezes. We just finished going through all rooms using reverse proxy today and fixed a few further issues.
The only room that I am aware of sometimes not working now is https://tryhackme.com/room/modelpoisoning. We've picked this up with the content team.

If you are using an updated config as per #site-support message, please just make sure you are connecting to a VPN server that matches your VM region in https://tryhackme.com/manage-account/access. Just working on actually preventing connections to servers that would not work to avoid confusion.

Yes I connect to the matching server. My region on the access page is Europe (Ireland) and my config file is eu-west-1. I can ping the target machine, even curl worked, but it will not open the page on the browser. I also tried open with lynx to exclude wrong browser configuration. Target box can be pinged but no dice with reaching it in the browser (trying to do one called Ignite). OpenVPN connection inside my VM seems... unstable? Some THM ip addresses work and others don't.

It's like it can't access the actual HTTP server, but if I try the same thing in attackbox it works, so it must be on my end somehow.

You should still be able to access the internet. It’s only a tunnel that goes through to our network so you can connect to our VMs. If you can’t connect to public sites it’s mostly your network configuration on your VM

however:

• personally, as I do a lot of typos, I like to use as shortcut a config where I enter X.X.X.X thm in /etc/hosts so I just need to do ping thm andnmap thm instead of ping X.X.X.X and nmap X.X.X.X
• also, some rooms, in particular challenge rooms, just like Lookup, have web servers set up in a way that they expect to receive http traffic containing a domain name, like lookup.thm You get a hint of that via the results of nmap or simply by browsing to the IP In these cases, you would edit /etc/hosts like you did for Lookup
  if you want to practice the startup of a plain room, just do Pickle Rick (https://tryhackme.com/room/picklerick): it has a web server that you can reach just by browsing to the IP of the target VM

Windows VM are all unbearably slow and unstable, not that Linux VM are that much better.
I found that having the VM in full screen mode worsen the problem somehow.
I do regret extending my subscription since I have spent way more time waiting for the VMs to respond than actually working on something and learning

Overall, we managed to figure it out. On the old configuration, NAT did not work, and only Bridged Adapter was functional. However, with the new configuration, Bridged Adapter does not work properly, and NAT is the only working solution. Try switching the adapter to NAT

Well, I connect to the VPN in Poland via Amnezia on the main system. And in VirtualBox, I use Kali and connect via OpenVPN THM.

This allows you to bypass the provider's UDP blocking

• on this WSL, i am connected through openvpn to tryhackme (https://tryhackme.com/access shows im connected too)
• the target machine has been up for half an hour already

I went back in the history of messages between you and me: I did not see at first glance that we had to troubleshoot MTU
my point:

• you may not need adapting the MTU value all the time The trigger for the change is when the connectivity through THM VPN, typically, makes browsing slow to the point that web pages will not load (completely)
• if you make the change to 1200 while not needing it, the impact is probably a connection through THM VPN slightly slower, but I suspect to the point you cannot notice
• also, adapting the MTU is dependent on network conditions: one day you may need it, and the next day not 🙃

• then connect to THM VPN and see if you need to adapt the MTU
• repeat the test in several locations, especially if possible connecting with a different network operator (like a mobile operator) or abroad

Hi, apologies if this is not the right channel to put it in but I've tried to go through both twitter and making a ticket but respectfully the ticket reply wasn't the greatest response.

I have a 3 month subscription through a vet benefit scheme called techvets, this is valid until the 18th December. I want to make use of the black Friday sale before it goes, but due to this I no longer have the option to extend my subscription.

I was just wondering if there is any mods, admins, support that I can private message my account details to to either have this subscription ended or something.

I bought the SAL1 certification and this annual sale would be really helpful for me to carry on practicing.

Whenever I go to pricing it already says I'm a premium member, whenever I go to manage account and to subscriptions it says my subscription is under the management of techvets. Pls could I get some help before this deal ends otherwise I'll probably be waiting until next year to get premium

You can switch to other regions on the free plan, but I doubt it will help as the setup everywhere is identical.
This is a bit unusual as it sounds like you can kind of connect, but not talk to the VPN server properly?
This is the US VPN right? I can connect to it ok. I assume you did not touch the config you downloaded?
If so, my best guess would be some local, network or upstream filtering or some NAT issues. Maybe try the config on another device or internet connection?

Not sure if my issue is the same as the other VPN issues that are being spoken about, but I've attempted to download the OpenVPN file and run it in my VPN config, but it won't connect. I've tried this in Viscocity and TunnelBlik on Mac and Windows and the error is the same. Looks like this might be something to do with it?

Nvm. Fixed it by regenerating the vpn AD config file and use the new one.

I think that second screenshot will only show "connected" for AttackBox which I agree is confusing.
Check if you can ping one of the target machines. Usually based on the first screenshot it should be working.

I’m trying to upgrade my TryHackMe account using PayPal, and I have enough balance in my PayPal. However, every time I try to check out, PayPal keeps asking me to add a credit/debit card. There is no option to pay directly using my PayPal balance.

Does anyone know how to pay for TryHackMe without adding a card?
