Hey. New day new troubleshooting required for me. I'm sure I'm once again missing something obvious

I'm in the uploadvulns room. I added the vhosts to my hosts file. I can ing every instance and it's IP.

But when I open the browser, like Task 3 tells me to do. I get greeted with following message

And yes, I know it says in the beginning that my request for support may be ignored 😂 I'm just confused as of why I can ping every subdomain and the IP itself, but can't acess the sites with the browser

Guess it has something to do with the browser? When I don't specify http:// it jumps straight to a search engine. When I specify http://overwrite.openvulns.thm i access the site pictured in the screenshot above

check this: Profile > Manage Account > Account Details (I am not talking about Access via OpenVPN)
THM introduced regions that they assign users to, based on some criteria they manage I guess
it is fairly recent (like 1-2 months)
so far you can switch from one region to another, and that gets reflected in the IP format, but also in the Target Machine Information (under the Red header)

and I am in US-East region
so the selection of region does not seem to be the issue
I do not know why you have the issue, along with DavidCopperfield, but not me
BTW, I had that issue myself some days ago, but I think I managed to get in just by clicking OK, possibly several times, so maybe that error is not a real barrier, just a glitch?

maybe you confuse Server Region and geographical locations for THM VPN servers
check screenshot :

  • there are only 2 Regions: US-East and Europe; that is where the target VMs are hosted, including THM AttackBox
  • for VPN servers, that is a different tab, as per screenshot, and these are geographical locations to connect to and establish your VPN conection, including indeed India, Australia, etc.

Hello my class in school is using this site as part of our lab. in the windows fundamentals 3 room i have having a very odd problem that i can't see to fix. instead of running the windows vm so i can do the assignments in the room it opens a linux one

Good evening all - I just joined and I've been trying to get through the Windows Fundamentals tasks but the Windows VM shuts down after like 10 or 15 minutes. At least once it shut down as soon as it booted to desktop. It's not a crash, and it's not idle and it's no where near the time limit. It just...decides to go back to bed. Any one experience this?

are you using THM troubleshooting script each time you try a different VPN server? you should, as that would possibly correct the MTU value which affects very much performance
if you want to avoid that hassle go straight for: sudo ip link set dev tun0 mtu 1200
please provide info on your setup: OS, firewall, etc.

Subject: URGENT Clarification on Certification Ownership (SAL1/PT1) & Organization License Cancellation

Hi TryHackMe Support Team,

I have a personal TryHackMe account and I'm currently enrolled in a training course through an organization that provided us with a group license/subscription. This organization license is valid until November 2nd, 2025, and we used a voucher from the training center to obtain our SAL1 certification.

Critical Issue Encountered by a Colleague:
A colleague who successfully passed the SAL1 certification decided to purchase a personal annual subscription to take advantage of a promotion. To do this, they had to cancel their organization license, and they unfortunately lost access to their SAL1 certification on their account afterward.

This situation raises serious concerns, as several of us plan to pass the PT1 certification by the end of this month. We don't want to invest our time and effort only to lose our certifications when the organization license expires in November.

My Key Questions:

  1. Certification/License Link: How is the SAL1 certification (obtained via an organization voucher) linked to our account? Is the certification permanently integrated, or is its visibility/validity dependent on maintaining the organization's active license?
  2. Post-November 2nd Validity: Will my SAL1 and future PT1 certifications remain permanently visible and valid on my personal TryHackMe account after the organization license expires on November 2nd, 2025?
  3. Credly Badge Transfer: My Credly SAL1 badge is currently linked to my personal TryHackMe email address, but I'd like to centralize it with my professional email address on Credly. Is it possible to transfer the Credly badge to a different email address?

I’m trying to join the Exploiting AD Network room but I can’t download the VPN config — the downloaded file iimadrafaii-exploitingad.ovpn is 0 bytes (empty), so OpenVPN won’t start and I can’t connect to the network.

Steps I’ve already tried:

  1. Downloaded the file from the room page (Chrome).
  2. Tried again with Firefox — same result (0 bytes).
  3. Confirmed file size is 0 bytes and that it contains no content.

I just searched for the exploit in using searchsploit and the version of the server and a exploit with RCE was there in the list starting from 5 written on bash.

I tried that one but it didn't worked. Then I tried the payload from walkthoughs didn't worked either.

I've been having this problem with the vpn, I believe it is connected properly and 10.10.10.10 is working, but whenever I try to open the website it keeps loading and I dont get a response, I tried switching vpns even back to regular servers, it only works when I keep restarting the vpn over and over till the website works

I see. I was having trouble with Port and PID and service #s for a couple of hours now. I guess the best way to say it is by using commands, to display the port, to find the PID, to find the service. Thanks for the information, but I had been trying to use [-abon] fro the last 30 minutes to discover this.

I had to read the man page of a few commands; trying to pipe things '|', is much more effective when using network scripts to do recon.

I am having trouble with loggin in to the AWS Console. I copied and pasted the creds into the website and it still does not work. I reset the environment multiple time and it still does not work. Thanks! It is more around I had a group of people I was needing to purchase vouchers for and they just stopped selling them. I have 50 msps that were going to be using vouchers next week and the program was just ended in the last few weeks / maybe month. Need to pivot pretty hard based on that with short time. I have successfully paid for a premium subscription, but my account still shows as "paused." When I click "Resume Subscription," it redirects me to a new yearly plan instead of activating my current plan. After this problem I chose the option to switch to the annual plan. Hey! I have an issue in Linux Fundamentals Part 1 - When the terminal opens, there are no available files or folders in the /home/ubuntu. On the other hand, in /home/tryhackme, there are folder1, folder2, folder3, folder4, which doing ls -l all the sizes are the same, and I had verified, there are no files. Due to this, I am unable to complete Task 5 - Interacting With the Filesystem!

I don't think it's a connection issue, as the VM actually showed as shutting down. It also couldn't be connected with afterwards, even though THM seemed to think it was still running.
I've ended that one and started a new one, and it seems to be doing fine. Fingers crossed, it'll stay connected.

THM staff, EvilGPTv2 should NOT be a premium room. It is way too easy to be paid for. Legit finished it in less than a minute. Less then 20 seconds actually.

Also, tell whoever created that room it has a Ollama SSRF vulnerability. Maybe they can do something with that and the AI "injection" prompt together? then it might be worthy for premium account only.

@viscid axle If it's that you didn't see the acknowledgement of completion, it appears to show up in the room last complete to finish the mission. If you have other open tabs with different rooms, it might not show up there, and I would check other tabs.

I’ve been using TryHackMe’s OpenVPN connection with no issues for weeks. However, since tonight I can’t connect anymore. My OpenVPN log keeps showing this error:"TLS Error: TLS key negotiation failed to occur within 60 seconds (check your network connectivity)
TLS Error: TLS handshake failed".I’ve tried restarting OpenVPN and my system, but it keeps failing.
Does anyone know if this server might be down or if TryHackMe changed anything recently?
