I'm doing the SOC Level 1 > Endpoint Security Monitoring, and most of the machine rooms seems to be down:

Intro to Endpoint Security – No VM needed.

Core Windows Processes – VM is located in US EAST(N.Virginia); works 100%.

Sysinternals – VM is located in Europe (Ireland); Down -connecting to the remote machine results in a loop.

Windows Event Logs – VM is located in Europe (Ireland); Down-connecting to the remote machine results in a loop.

Sysmon – VM is located in Europe (Ireland); Down-connecting to the remote machine results in a loop.

Osquery: The Basics – VM is located in Europe (Ireland); Down-connecting to the remote machine results in a loop.

Wazuh – VM is located in Europe (Ireland); Down-connecting to the remote machine results in a loop.

Monday Monitor – VM is located in Europe (Ireland);Down - connecting to the remote machine results in a loop.

The only thing I notice is that all these VMs are in Europe (Ireland), and it affects 6 rooms, so I don’t think this is random.

for all these rooms, most of them are Windows I believe, do no waste your time trying to get the connection in Split View (right pane window), instead use the alternative method of RDP (maybe sometimes SSH)
a lot of users have reported the same experience (you can search Discord for the past 2-3 days)

another possibility in that case would be to use THM AttackBox, and RDP from there (that is what I do), but then it is best if you have a THM subscription, as otherwise you are limited to starting THM AttackBox once per day for a max of one hour

• ping latency is >300 ms
• nmap is miserable (we are using Easy Peasy for target VM)

• usually IN (India) VPN server was OK, but not today
• other servers so far are not better

for instance, the Server Regions is a new thing from late August, and came with a lot of lagging issues on US-East
now, lots of Windows machines are not coming in Split-Screen, and that started appearing about 4 (?) days ago
that will get fixed, of course, but I suspect the deployment of the current evolution will first have to finish before the fix solves it all
and BTW, check this: #site-support message, hence this week is going to be slow on THM side for fixing issues

yeah, still stuck... very high latency, >300ms. Thought it might have been a temporary glitch yesterday, but it seems to be persisting. Even changes the MTU value, no difference.
Even tried ping-ing another room(Hacker vs Hacker), same situation. High latency

BTW, what is your setup: Kali on Windows? no WSL right?

yeah, changed the MTU manually too, as per his sugegstion, still no change.
I am on a Kali VM on Windows host. I even thought there was a problem with my VM, so I tried from my host machine too(after connecting to THM network via VPN), but same high latency.

I do not have better ideas but these:

• workaround is to use THM AttackBox: that will provide you the best latency (I use THM AttackBox most of the time)
• further troubleshooting, but nothing smart here:
  • are you happy with the current latency outside of THM VPN (on your host but also very much on Kali VM)? Worth using a tool to monitor that performance
  • question current computer by switching computer
  • question current network/ISP/router by trying other networks/ISPs/routers elsewhere where you can bring your computer
  • has something changed on your current computer since the moment you had reasonable performance: OS, security apps (like antivirus, VPN app, any security "thing"), some app limiting bandwidth, whatever?

Hi, i read a lot of issue in here - but just to escalate the probleme here my status...
i am new in THM (3.day) and mastered my first rooms. Now i am stuck at Linux Part 1 - https://tryhackme.com/room/tutorial works mostly fine (Target and Attacker Runs) but i recognize an error while starting the Attacker Box Maschine: "Unable to mount 78MB Volume No .Filesystem or .Encrypted interface on D-Bus object. The The given volumne was not found" was mentiont. I pass this both and work on Tutorial - Success. If this error result to the main problem - dont know.
This brings me to the Linux Part 1 Failure - Task3 to start the Machine runs into a nearly blank screen (Connection to remote machine ... and ending in dark empty screen) . If Maximized it shows like this kind "Remote computer Error - connection close. Contact Admin ".
I tried several time - my port 22 ist open, latency is under 30ms - connection refused in 90% of time ... some times it works.
Please Fix this!

my personal experience so far is that some users I have interacted with have experienced an issue similar to yours for Linux Fundamentals 1, but that could be solved by disabling something, and/or reloading with Ctrl+F5

maybe I am confused, but did you start the target VM on Task 2? doing so, after 60 seconds, you get the IP for the target VM at the top in the red header called "Target Machine Information"
with the IP you can ssh into the target using the creds provided in Task 2

Nope and that’s exactly what happened, I started the attackbox before starting the machine. Since the site collapses all the dropdowns and jumps straight to where you left off, it’s easy to miss. But you’re right, I needed to go back to Task 2 and start the machine. Thanks so much for your help!

I do not think there is a difference in environments between subs and non-subs, it is just that, as a sub, you have access to (much) more resources
for instance, if you look at the walkthrough rooms, where you have tutorials about cybersecurity stuff, you would have much more rooms available as a sub Check first sreenshot
you can explore the other tabs (modules, networks ,etc.), and you see that free users have less
also, about VPN, subs have access to more VPN servers than non-subs (the VIP servers)
more generally, if you go to https://tryhackme.com/pricing, and scroll down (see second screenshot), you will see a comparison between subs and non-subs, that should be more complete than what I have just descsribed

You can always use the built in VMs on the site itself

You don't need OpenVPN for that

When using vpn, I do not get the sites to work properly. However if I am using the attackbox then it works fine. With VPN, the pages do not load completely are are stuck. btw I hate (maybe) gtk-networkmanager which break openvpn-routes always. Using CLI openvpn routes won't mess but networkdamager is setting default route to vpn tunnel. In THM network there is no Internet.

There's nothing wrong with openvpn profile file if I read it right and know something about routes.

I always have to sudo ip route delete default (not using tun0 in command because that's enough). It's lowest priority route.

No so it's your local resolve config. Because .thm isn't a valid TLD known by any DNS like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8, you can't reach it. In the THM network there is also no Nameserver resolving .thm Domains. Thats why you need to directly let you machine know: "When entered example.thm I need to request <IP>"

I belive it's not going to become an own nameserver but yes, before your machine contacts any DNS servers, it always looks in /etc/hosts to check if there are any known connections.

I'm not sure if this goes here or in room support. I'm working through Breaching Act ve Directory and the network appeared to be down. I have left the room and rejoined a few times to cycle through domain controller IPs and I can't ping the DC from attack box. Every time I rejoin the room the reset count is at 1 or 2 so it seems to be an issue across the module

No dice. Either the network isn't provisioning or the attack box isn't getting access to it. Pinging the whole /24 subnet the network should be on gives me nothing. Ill check in again later.

one more option: after you have joined a new network, go to your access page and download the VPN file for Breaching AD (to be on the safe side, regenerate it before)
then, back on THM AttackBox, run openvpn
before that, you probably need to do killall openvpn

one more thing, make sure at all times that the network is in the state of Running
for instance, when I joined the topology shown in the first screenshot, the network was Stopped, and I had to press Start to have it Running
the other thing is that it seems that all VPN files are missing from the AttackBox, at least for my instance: no wonder it kept failing for you, hence the alternative method explained in the previous message
I have gone through that alternative method for myself as per second screenshot
If things keep failing for you, I suggest you come back here and we go step by step in parallel so we know where the gaps are

I just started my journey on TryHackMe and so far its been going smooth, but today, whenever I Start the Machine (for example in Active Directory Basics) my browser bugs somewhat. I use firefox and every second there is this popup that says Paste and I can't write or scroll anymore until i click somewhere else and then it pops up again? When the Paste pops up this windows sound is played like when a window pops up in the foreground and you try to click somewhere else.

If I minimize the Machine the site works as intended but as soon as I go in split screen it starts happening again

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Here I thought it was an issue with my account but the two paths Breaking Windows and Compromising AD have been such a bear to get through because the machines go up, I ping(works like 50% of the time), and then the next minute they're down. sudo openvpn [username].ovpn is the command I used. It runs but has several errors showing such as TLS Error: TLS handshake failed within 60 seconds

I also used killall openvpn and it was the only connection running. I had to use it to make sure there was nothing else running with it

rather than waiting for a reset on your current network instance, use the Options button to leave the room and join a few minutes later: you will be assigned to a different instance

Hey. I'm in the webenumerationv2 room. I added the host to my hosts file and most of the time I can ping webenum.thm and it's IP.

But. There are a lot of timeouts happening...

It was like that from the get go. Sometimes I could ping webenum.thm/it's IP Address but I noticed that even there it seems to timeout every couple of minutes.

Given the directory list is quite extensive it would take hours to enumerate...

What do you mean "provided as illustration"? Task 6 (in https://tryhackme.com/room/linprivesc) has questions at the end. The text of the task only describes the exploitation of LD_PRELOAD. What is the expected method of privilege escalation for the questions at the end if not this method? Why does it say at the start "Note: Launch the target machine attached to this task to follow along. " if it's for illustration only?

one more thought: switching Server Region may help for the moment, however I would just consider that a trick to deal with a glitch in THM infrastructure, certainly not a long term solution

the way I see it:

Hi, I’m having an issue with the CI/CD and Build Security room. I followed all the setup steps, but I can’t connect to http://gitlab.tryhackme.loc/. The browser always shows:

The connection has timed out
The server at gitlab.tryhackme.loc is taking too long to respond.

I already tried resetting the network, but the problem persists. Could someone check if the room is working properly?
