however, if you search Discord for Juice you will see that lots of people complain about the accuracy/stability of this room, so maybe something has changed or is not right with the room
also, Juice Shop is very popular, so lots of people have posted videos and tutorials, not necessarily related to THM
and if you want your own instance of Juice Shop (maybe more stable), you can install it inside Kali : https://www.kali.org/tools/juice-shop/

actually, I went back and redid just that question 🙃
but I got the same flag as the first time I did the room, as per screenshot, which indicates that the flag relates to "Poison Null Byte"
I also got 2 additional flags when I went back to the root page:

made using my VM Kali easier with the VPN, using the openvpn default auto start conf and adding a start openvpn execute on my desk top.
I couldn't get it to work in the network switch but this does the job, I kept closing the terminal by mistake and losing connection now don't face this issue

VPN on kali VM drove me around the bend in the end I used the default config file and now have a exicute button to start the VPN service on my desktop

I found the Kali everything worked better but no drag and drop or clipboard when running it as a VM

Issue with the Windows Priv Esc room. The first machine (Task 3) will automatically shutdown after about 5 minutes of use, then fails to reboot/connect until I terminate the machine. When I am connected via RDP I see it go blue and say "Shutting Down". I have regenerated my OpenVPN file with no change. I cannot ping, RDP, or connect via split view after the disconnect. I tried support on the site and it sent me here.

I don't have linux, haven't started the paid courses yet, running on windows atm.

I'm trying to get all set up so that when I start the paid courses I can get the most out of it, right away. The Issue rn is getting the site to see that i am connected, when i do the
" Try loading http://10.10.10.10 in your browser" It shows the new IP address as given by openvpn, says i am connected and gives me a flag but on the 'access' tab it shows i'm not connected..

(Also 'open terminal' option missing randomly from my ovpn file... Not sure if thats normal but it was working for at least 10min then disappeared while i was troubleshooting..)

Trying to troubleshoot the openVPN link, getting nowhere so far. The troubleshooting tool gave me "something went wrong, try the discord" and my openvpn output looks pretty normal. I can't think of any rogue firewall rules running on my end, either

after regenerating, worth checking the new file is different than the previous one
you can just check the MD5 hashes
if they are the same, just wait 1-2 minute before downloading after regenerating

If you want to hide your public IP, you may need to use a separate VPN service. However, I have yet to read on this discord / forum if a user was able to connect to the THM OpenVPN while using a separate VPN service.

Ignore the "Not Connected" on the access page as it is a known bug. So long as you can access http://10.10.10.10 using your browser while connected to the THM OpenVPN, you should be gpod to go.

you need to communicate your network instance, as not all users share the same instance
and BTW, do a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) and clear cache: that may allow you to press the Start button
also, an alternative to waiting for a reset is to leave the room using the Options button and join again: you will be assigned to a different instance (with different IP addresses)

I would be surprised it would affect your ability to ssh into your target via THM VPN, more likely to affect nmap, browsing and heavy traffic
one way to check also is to browse to 10.10.10.10: if it loads painfully slow, that would be a sign of the MTU issue possibly

Hello everyone, I found another fix for the disconnection issue, if the room has a VM that needs more than 100 or 150 seconds to start it will likely fail, so just leave it disconnect, and let the timer of the reconnection attempt to hit 0 so it tries to connect itself, once the access to desktop timer hits around 20 seconds it will connect normaly. I just tried it and it worked.

I'm currently working in the "Exploiting Active Directory" room on TryHackMe. Since yesterday, I've encountered an issue with the VPN configuration. I can generate the exploitingad.ovpn configuration file from https://tryhackme.com/access, then choose Networks>Network VPN server > exploitingad, but the downloaded file is only 2114 bytes instead of the expected ~8.1 KB. Upon inspection, the file lacks the <key>...</key> section. When I run sudo openvpn ./exploitingad.ovpn, it consistently fails due to the missing <key> section. Could someone provide guidance on resolving this issue?

Yes, they're apparently testing with two different content styles with the room, However from Learn it does mean you aren't enrolled in any of the learning paths (recommended to do so as it helps out with progression)

It should just be for that one room, you wouldn't be running into any discrepancies from the next one in your path

I have failed Section 3 because for the entire 2 hour window, the VMs never booted up. I sent a message 19 hours ago to the Support Team as well as multiple messages today, but haven't gotten any responses.

I don't think the SAL1 users can do anything as only an admin can fix this issue. I failed the exam because the VMs for Section 3 did not pop up, it would be stuck in 99%.

I was hoping if there is any Support from THM or any Mods that have that access that could help.

• terminate all THM VMs you are working with

once you are connected to THM VPN, you can interact with targets in different ways:

• in some walkthrough rooms you may be given credentials (for ssh or rdp for instance)

your problem seems different from the disconnecting/reconnecting issue (which is somethinkg you would experience with in-browser machines, like THM Attackbox or a target VM opening in split screen)

no, I do not think so, as the MTU applies only to network traffic
and BTW you may not need that MTU trick each time, like today you need it, but tomorrow no (depends how your internet traffic is routed)

BTW in linux fundamentals 3 the gpg key command is outdated. It shows how to use apt-key which is not installed on latest distros iirc. If someone sets up their own VPN they probably know that but not sure if that should be updated in general

Hey I was directed to ask my question here in this channel. So I reside in Canada and contemplating on whether or not to get the annual subscription. So I decide to check the prices and find that the price is 20.25 CAD per month. However I read in the THM KB that the price should be 10.50 USD per month and so I did the currency conversion and at the time of writing this message the currency conversion is 14.57 CAD per month. So that is a roughly 6 CAD difference not accounted for.

In the Linux Process Analysis room under Task 4 (Cronjobs), in order to get sudo privilege, it asks for a password. What is the password? Normally it’s listed in the setup

Experiencing the same issue as of now. Cannot connect to Blood Hound after resetting the password.

After scanning with nmap I can see that port 8080 is open so not sure what is the issue here.Reset didn't work for the network.

retried with rejoining the room but didn't work in my case. Using attackbox.

After sending a request for resetting the password port 8080 becomes unresponsive.

I also tried to curl and telnet the address. In case of telnet to the port 8080 connection is refused. In case of curl got an error "connection reset by the peer".

After I also tried to nmap and received the same outcome as @compact fjord. Port 8080 is closed after sending the request for password reset.

Current ask: Could anyone give any insight on this?Seems like an issue with the machine where blood hound is located.
