I'm working on the Dependency Management room and I'm stuck on task 7, which includes the following instruction:

@ember osprey There are some vpn related issue for many of us. It maybe due to version upgrade, or kernel upgrade, or something else, There is tls handshake or tunneling may be. On my vm I changed to bridge network mode from NAT [previously worked fine with NAT], then the vpn worked but exactly 1 hour later TLS get soft reset.

I was just under the impression that the attackboxes unless otherwise stated were ready to go. I loaded the box ping 20.211.12.xx which doesn’t ping because when you check the route I have 20.211.11.xx not .12.xx

So I ran try connect me copied the information from the room over. It supposed to generate a log but I can never ping the machine

And the instructions say nothing about this.

you have to do more than just type in the command

you have to go to your acces page, go to the network tab, select the openvpn configuration for the room, hit regenerate, open up the terminal on a new attackbox, use the tryconnectme command, let it do its thing, then run openvpn --config /root/Desktop/NetworkConfigs/Jr-Pentester-AD-v01-BH.ovpn --daemon --log /root/Desktop/NetworkConfigs/logs/Jr-Pentester-AD-v01-BH.log

i found a solution your issue. you have to modify your exploit script. right now it's printing the first element in the output list at the 0th index. you need to change it to 1. the machine is actually running the commands you send it - it's just not parsing the response properly and printing what you want to the terminal. having said that, you could literally just send it a command for a reverse shell, and the output for the exploit wouldn't matter anymore since you'd be using a different shell.

Omg. Either I am an idiot or tryhackme needs to better explain things. You were on the right track, went into the networking section and selected the room for some reason it had three options. Regenerated it and killed the attack box reloaded and shocker it works. I am guess it’s because I have been working a few rooms. Thank you @vagrant bear

When you start, it will provide you with the IP, which you must access with. Otherwise, if you have other connection problems or the problem persists, you must modify /etc/hosts. But I really don't know if that's necessary. I don't really know what you're solving right now.

I'm having issues with the VPN configuration file. I run the proper command to use the .ovpn and see the

Hi I still need help. I emailed support and all they did was send me a password reset link.

I don't need to reset my password. I log in with my google account and for the past 2 weeks every time I try to login, it doesn't authenticate and just redirects to the login page.

I am having some issues with the VPN connection staying stable, 10.10.10.10 has some pretty sporadic round trip times and it will randomly disconnect. My rtt for a ping to 10.10.10.10 will jump from 167ish ms to 18005ms. Tried a couple different concentrators but it still seems fairly sporadic. Weird thing is, the connection status indicator shows that I am disconnected but I'm definitely connected.

Hey all! I’m new to THM but had a quick question. Is it normal that an attack box changes depending on what time you’re working on it? E.g yesterday I was working on cracking something running on port 8080, but logged out and came back to it the next day after spinning up a new attack box on a new IP, and I found that port 8080 was closed so I couldn’t continue on the path I was on yesterday. All the other ports and stuff were the same though. Is this a bug or is it expected/realistic behaviour. Happy to divulge more details over PM.

Every time you terminate your AttackBox (or if TryHackMe does it automatically), progress you made on the AttackBox resets. Same thing applies with terminating a box you're targetting.

Depending on the box you're attacking, it might have dynamically changed ports on reset to prevent an automated script from quickly completing the room in one go or something. I would advise re-enumerating the open ports and then retrying the attack with the new port you find. In addition, make sure other progress you did up until the attack last time was also done again this time.

I have an OpenVPN issue.

For the past while now, it looks like my config files have not been working with my OpenVPN clients.

Current client I'm on is OpenVPN Connect 3.6.0 (4074) with an operating system of Windows 11 Pro (24H2) [Build 26100.4061] [Experience 1000.26100.84.0].

Usually I try to connect on the US-East-Regular-1 region, but I also attempted EU-VIP-1 (regenerated file of course) and still didn't work.

I'm having trouble with the Network Services 2 MySQL module. After starting the machine and conducting a successful nmap scan, I can't seem to connect to the mysql service. It just stays loading and doesn't go through. I've tried resetting the machine and reconnecting via openvpn but no change.

I had a similar issue with the NFS module, where the server directory wouldn't mount onto my machine. I got an error message saying the server refused to comuunicate. Issue was unresolved even after machine reset.

Burp Suite community edition is intentionally throttled by PortSwigger , that's how it is supposed to work

Maybe you have an mtu issue , open up a new terminal and run this cmd
sudo ip link set dev tun0 mtu 1200

Make sure to disable Interceptor in Burp if you want to browse the web
