Which 2 rooms have you completed? If those are quite old, it is understandable if it does not award points any further.

I was doing the CTF collection Vol.1 room (answered around 13 questions), and I finished two to three other CTF rooms and got me to 300 something points, but the odd thing is that after completing the CTF collection Vol.1 room, I have a total of 600 points in the weekly leaderboard, which is supposed to be the amount of points just from the CTF Vol 1 room. shouldn't I have much more points?

(Emailed to TryHack Me): Apart from this, I also did not recieve the points for first place in silver in the last week leaderboards and no badge.

hello, sorry that I bring this topic again.
I think something's wrong... if everyone starts cheating and entering copied results, or in other unethical ways:

1. Nobody learns anything.
2. The top spots, which are intended for those who move up the league, will be occupied only by cheaters.
3. By playing fairly, we'll always be outside of any recognition.

I consider it highly unlikely that someone would learn by getting 4,300 points in one day (with 600 activities completed).

And it's funny because yesterday I was surprised by the 1,200 points, but this tripled it in the same period.

The leagues are just a competition of who can copy-paste the most. What the people doing it don't understand is that they are completing rooms that they'll forget about later and won't come back to them because they are "Completed".
They're losing their money basically.

But I agree that it is unfair to people doing it regularly - and fairly. It might also motivate beginners to just copy-paste. It's also bad for THM's marketing if the website becomes a copy-paste festival. Newcomers will just leave.

Hi I really need help, Im connected to openvpn and even though I can connect to 10.10.10.10, I still don't have access to the virtual machines within the rooms. Ive uninstalled openvpn and redownloaded it multiple times, deleted old configuration files and have tried new ones, and even switched computers to see if that would help. Okay, then navigate to the THM web page => click on your profile => access and choose the right VPN server, then generate it and download it to your kali VM

After that's done you can use the command sudo openvpn yourname.ovpn to start the openvpn connection.

If you don't have openvpn installed it will tell you the command for installation.

openvpn is setup and the configfile works (I had to change ciphers to data ciphers or something like this)

I got "Inititialization completed" around the end of the open vpn prompt

If your openvpn command ran with no errors then keep the terminal open and you can minimize it.

after that you are able to use they commands related to hydra with the IP you are given at the top of the room when you've started the machine

The openvpn acts as like a bridge between your VM and the machine you started with your account logged in THM.

If you want to use the command ssh user@ip then you need the password and username. If you connect with ssh then you have direct access to the CLI of the IP you connected to, therefore you have access to browse the directories etc.. depending on the permissions that user has.

I'm also only a year into this stuff, so sorry, if some of my explanations don't make that much sense 😄

I CAN tell you that room took me WAY longer than 30 minutes.

If you lost your target IP your other machine timed out. I suggest you terminate the attack box & start the machine in T2 over & just start again from T6 - it may be worth a 10 min break to make sure your account machines all reset first.

Hey guys, I have used THM and HTB before on my own VM without issues, so I am having a hard time figuring out what is causing this issue.

I’m running Kali Linux in a virtual machine on Hyper-V, connected to an Internal Virtual Switch. I’ve set up NAT and can access WAN. I downloaded the OpenVPN configuration file and it doesn't error out when it connects. When I connect, I am able to access WAN, but THM does not see I am connected AND I am not able to access internal resources.

DNS Resolution: DNS resolution fails for fakebank.thm, works for external sites.

I see a tunnel interface on my routing table

and yes, I a leaving the shell open after connecting

If you are referring to the Access Machine found on the upper right hand portion of the page, you may ignore that one for now as it is not working as it should. Using your browser, if you go to 10.10.10.10 and see your tun0 IP, you are good to go

The problem occurs when i open the site for example the “nmap” room on the right corner next to my profile there is a red button that’s says “access machine” when i click on that it says i’m not connected

The support team recommends to wait at a minimum of 5 minutes for the openvpn file to regenerate, before downloading it, also you could try switching the server to another one and see if it works.

Are the problems with the Unattended room VM? The Registry Explorer is now 15 minutes busy in starting process. Looks liks it hangs.

Oh.. I'm afraid we can't be of help as Egypt is blocking VPN UDP packets (due to a government decision or initiative and any attempts to assist on our part would go against it).

The only recommendation we can give you is to use the Attackbox.

Yo, think I'm getting hacked. Keep getting mad sign-in alerts even after changing my passwords and putting 2FA on everything. Already tried locking my stuff down but need some extra help to fully secure it. Anyone know what I should do next?

Step 1:
Turn on all possible security measures(even if you have to go through CMD or PowerShell NON-ADMIN)
Step 2:
Check your active(established) connections: "netstat -ano | findstr ESTABLISHED"(A error handle might appear but ignore it as its not important)
you can also do: (refreshes active connections every 20s but can be changed!)

If you don't know if there's a random IP address and they all seem normal but still think your getting hacked; then go to step 4 but don't skip 3.
Step 3:
Try looking for folders that were recently written to. (recommend asking copilot/chatGPT to make a custom script or the proper command)
Step 4:
IP lookup (MaxMind and ARIN)
If you don't know these IP's then you can google them, which usually show there service, or you a ip lookup website.
Step 5:
if nothing has really helped that much then disconnect your machine from the internet and do a further analysis.
Extra:
make sure to clear all cookies as they are stored locally (Cookie's contain, session data, tracking data, and user settings)
if you use google/chrome/Firefox/Microsoft-edge(Bing) then i recommend switching to opera or opera GX(I do not completely know if opera one is still supported as of 4/26/25)

I was in the Sapphire room this morning and ended up in the Diamond room this afternoon. I did another 2 rooms and it is not showing. Just have to wait again to see what the staff do to fix this.

Hey all, someones trolling the holo tryhackme room to the point where its literally undoable

I got a little bit further this time after resetting the network and jumping in immidiately, but i couldnt run linpeas as i think theyre just sitting with something running which just revokes all write privileges from every user before anyone can get admin

But its definitely a troll because last time i did this, it wasnt working and it magically worked this time but now im getting permission denied again because someones sitting running scripts on the other end

Its really frustrating me ive been doing this room for a couple days now :/
