I have huge CPU load and network activity on some THM rooms for weeks! For example rooms in new Web App Pentesting path such as “Insecure deserialization”, “Prototype Pollution “, “DOM based attacks “… Even when I change the tab, high load continues until page reload. If I continue working in those rooms for a while even reload of page doesn’t help and the whole OS slows down. Tried different browsers, cleared cached… nothing

Really annoying… Can’t go through rooms. Can’t even do text copy/paste after 15 minutes in those rooms… and these are only a few examples.

That normal behavior . Many machines aren't available directly in spilt view. Only beginner/example and blue team machines are available in spilt view. In other cases you have to expolit the machine first to gain foothold 🙂

I found out why iwas crashing all the time.
I wanted to start the mem corrupted exe file directly again in Mona/Immunity Debugger instead of loading it vie the file menu.

by just loading it new and starting it via "play" again, i was able to avoid crashing the machine.

Anyone else having issues connecting to the network rooms? I was busy working in Persistence AD and I just got 'kicked' at some point. I was made to join the room again while I was still working in there and connceted. I had an RDP open to the machine and the network was still live after I re-joined, however it showed a different network after and now I am unable to connect at all again. Anyone else have the same sort of thing?

I have tried re-joining and connecting like usual and I have tried regenerating and downloading the .ovpn again, but I am not even able to connect at all anymore. It will not even show the connection on the Access page, let alone the actual network. Seems so random because I didn't change anything from my side and I even was able to still navigate through the RDP connection after I had to re-join the room and it showed another network.

In Azure, we typically use KeyVaults for that sort of stuff. You asign a name to a secret, enter it once, and only people who have access to see the keys then can see the actual values. You can retreieve the values and passs them as sensitive, so the value won't show in the UI or logs (instead you'll just see *********)

Hey, I am doing the wreath room. For that I am using my own Kali VM (latest version). I could succesfully connect to the corresponding VPN.
So I compromised the first machine but I am loosing the connection to it all the time. It just freezes for 5 - 10 minutes (due to spoiler alarm I will not tell what kind of connection i have). The corresponding IP address does not even resonds on pings in this time range. It seams that the connection freezes alway when hiting enter or tab for autocompetion. But I am not sure whether this is all the time the case. Its just a observation. Does anybody have the same issue? Thx

At the start of the room I went to Cloud Details and hit "Generate Environment", it started Generating, but then it stuck there. It's been stuck in the "Generating" state for almost 24 hours. Other rooms used to have "Reset Environment" in the popup, but every room when I click on "Cloud Details" it says "Generating". So I can't reset it.

You can't get any further via AttackBox either. You can start the machine, but the ping to THM-DC with IP specification is unsuccessful.

trying out using a VPN through a fresh Parrot OS VM, instead of just using the AttackBox

seem to be hitting some real bad connectivity wonkiness, that shows up especially with nmap sweeps and vulnerability probes

a straight forward nmap -sS $IP is 1.7s to complete on AttackBox, and on the VPN it either completes in a similar amount of time, or get stalled for minutes and minutes

hitting verbose / debug mode, and welp

Increasing send delay for <TARGETIP> from 640 to 1000 due to 11 out of 11 dropped probes since last increase.

any suggestion on troubleshooting? fiddled with the VM network settings between Bridged and NAT, and a few other things, but i'm not really sure why it's so inconsistent

Account > Access shows i'm not connected, but i can ping 10.10.10.10 and access target machines just fine from the VM with the openvpn config loaded up, so i'm not sure what that's about

my issue seems to have resolved by realizing that i had access to the subscriber vpn

going from US-East-Regular-1 to US-West-VIP-1 has fixed the high rate of dropped packets & probes

Which machine? Your target? Did you confirm that ssh is even open, and that you are successfully connected via OpenVPN. That same ping I mentioned will confirm at least the latter

Then this may be a more #room-help kind of thing. You can also just try rebooting your target machine via the THM web interface just incase it got stuck for whatever reason, but this is much more common with Windows targets than Linux

hi, im doing the room "upload vulnerabilities" im struggling to set up the open vpn and add the 'overwrite.uploadvulns.thm' to the editor. I can get the open vpn to connect, start terminal in the room, open the openvpn gui as connected, use my notepad as 'run administrator' to add the code snippet they provide, I can then open that port code to receive the flag on the attack box, but unable to do it from my burp suite browser on my computer. any suggestions on what I am overlooking?? do I need to somehow add that code snippet to burp suite somewhere?

You are prompted the first time when you try to generate a certificate, if you choose username then it cannot be changed.
You can try emailing [e-mail], but as far as I am aware the certificates cannot be updated.

Question utilizing OpenVPN on a MAC. I utilize OpenVPN Connect to access other VPNs. I see on the "Access" page you are required to use home brew to setup the VPN. What is the difernce is using home brew and just downloading OpenVPN Connect off the OpenVPN website and then uploading the config file and connect that way.

I am unable to get either method to work on my computer and I am trying to troubleshoot. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi all. I'm new and learning - forgive my ignorance. Please know that I have searched and found numerous tutorials on setting up Kali VM with OpenVPN and that has been completed.

I do recieve the connection established message in command prompt, the Taskbar shows the VPN IP, running ifconfig shows the same VPN IP, 10.10.10.10 shows that I am indeed connected...but when it comes to the "access machines" option on the top of the THM site, it's red and shows disconnected.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Attack box took multiple attempts to get launched when I started trying about an hour ago now. All of the course I've attempted to open have failures launching room machines, but eventually get some, recently all rooms fail to open other than as a blank page. Just now I see a few rooms are opening but they are mostly empty - no lessons, no questions, just the machines I tried to launch and your room info/border. ~~~~Here's one room in particular.

That's normal behavior for that room , it can take up to 15min for the machine to fully boot up . Press F5 from time to time to refresh the page 🙂
