I suggest you try with all of them (I know that is not best if you are in India, but let's start with that)
please screenshot the output of your openvpn commands; for that you need to get verified with Discord (check this message for the procedure: #site-support message)

• I do not know if users belong to different classes
• maybe these servers accept just so many users, or so many users per amount of time

issue i got was not generating the config file properly.. for some reason it was not adding the client certificates in the file soo no connection for me 😦 i tried all eu servers then i tried US and the ones from US were generating the config file properly soo i'm on US for now ....

I have noted something similar when testing eu-regular 1 to 4:

• 1, 3, and 4: the config files worked, and had 8.1 KB
• 2 did not work: it had only 2.1 KB, I guess this was somehow the same issue you pointed at (not adding the client certificates)
• also, one of these files had be regenerated, as it first came with 0 bytes (happened a few times at other times before)
  I am a subscriber, and for Europe I also have access to EU-VIP 1 & 2, and I find they are usually more stable than the other ones, but that is more an impression than a hard fact
  somehow, always an adventure connecting to these VPN servers 🙃

So I’m running my own Kali system and want to use the openvpn connection to connect to the rooms throughout the various lessons. I’ve downloaded the config files and am able to curl 10.10.10.10 but not sure how I access the rooms. For instance I’m in the metasploit-exploitation module and need to run a search portscan. But how do I connect to the rooms?

Hello guys, I'm having issue with openvpn connection. It says initialization sequence completed and the vpn interface is shown on network interfaces but neither oing nor nmap scan is working. Ping is getting forever to send the response and nmap says host is down. Tried to change the servers but there is some kind of error to generate and download the vpn file. I'm using kali on vmware, nat network interface. Any solutions?

Heyo, I have a problem when trying to connect to the THM VPN from a kali VM running on my Windows PC.
I have tried the usual stuff (regenerating config, switching servers, setting MTU, apt upgrade).
The error is kinda weird too:

a) curl 10.10.10.10/whoami works, returns proper IP
b) opening 10.10.10.10 in Firefox works, but doesn't show IP + seems to fail to download the THM logo
c) curl <target_vm_ip> does not work, neither does opening it in Firefox
d) sudo curl <target_vm_ip> DOES work, returning the expected HTML

Hope I didn't overlook someone posting the solution here, sorry if I did.

I must say I have no experience of openVPN with Windows
BTW, from a security perspective, it is not a good idea of running the VPN on your host, as your are exposing to all other users, that could try to hack your host
better is to run a VM, like Kali: it is just a toolbox you can easily dispose of if it gets compromised

Hello, everyone! I'm having trouble with the Windows machine in the "Windows Fundamentals 1" room. I've tried everything, even emailing support, but no one has answered me. Slow customer service from TryHackMe.

The message is always the same:

Is this a place I can get support for the VPN connection? I was able to do the VPN on my windows machine just fine, but on my Ubuntu laptop it is saying I am not connected, but I can go to 10.10.10.10 and see an IP address and everything. hello , myopenvpn config file is setup successfully on linux vmbox, i could also ping its ip address and i can see the tun0 in my ifconfig. But the problem is its not showing as connected on my THM openvpn , i tried regenerating and changing servers still same problem and i cannot ping or visit the attackbox website too . What could be the fix for this? everything looks fine from my VM

I’m a bit confused how openvpn works - I got verification from the support team that if it doesn’t show up on the status page that your connected but you can go to 10.10.10.10 it works, so that’s fine. How do I use the openvpn thing though? Do I just run commands in my terminal once connected ? Support said it was a complete alternative to attackbox but i’m not sure how to use it

As KGB said, leave the VPN terminal open once connected.

To confirm you are connected, run:
ip addr s
or
ifconfig
To see your assigned IP addresses.
You should have a 10.X.X.X ip address assigned to a tun interface (usually tun0).

If you do, should be connected. To further confirm, you can then run:
curl 10.10.10.10/whoami
You should see that same 10.X.X.X address from the ip addr s / ifconfig command come up.

If you do, you're connected.

Please note that you need to keep the terminal in which you've connected to OpenVPN open,
you shouldn't do any other commands in that terminal, instead, open a new terminal for any commands that you might want to run.
( if you try to run any commands in the terminal that runs OpenVPN it will close the connection )

check the screenshot, which comes from the room instructions:

• the first line I underlined is about "using Burp" and "capture the request": that means effectively proxying the traffic to Burp when you visit the link
• the second line is about sending the "request to Intruder": you do that from the Burp > Proxy > HTTP history by right-clicking the request and selecting "Send to Intruder"
  If you are not too familiar with Burp, I suggest you check the Burp rooms that THM offers (however, most of them require a subscription)
  BTW, you may have more people looking at room-related questions like yours if you post it under #room-help , instead of #site-support which is more about site-wide questions like VPN, etc.
