you could just edit this in the .ovpn file to set it permenently. But what's your eth / wlan mtu set to? or do you have any additional layers of VPN running which might be causing issues?

did you answer any questions? if yes then you shouldn't loose your streak. Also THM usually sends out a email about streak loss ~4 hours before your streak ends if you've not answered any question on that particular day.

At first i thought there was an issue with viewing because i wasnt using THM's machine. But it turns out the problem was dark mode making the black text unreadable. Hopefully, they will consider the text visibilityissue in dark mode, as its impossible to read when its black (in certain rooms). While i can select the text & it highlights in blue or another colour, it would be better if the text was readable without having to select it.

Hi, I tried to order from the Swag Shop, using the £ 10 discount code, I've won earlier this year.
I could put the item into the cart, I could use the discount, but when I tried to pay by card (revolut), I've got an error.

Hello, I've experienced this issue few months ago. I raised a ticket for this issue through support and explained the situation and I've also sent a video on this. They provided a free voucher on using premium for a month as a temporary solution while they were rectifying the issue and after a month the issue got resolved. You can do this way if you want.

Hey everyone, I've enrolled in a SOC level 1 learning path and recently I've shared my completion of a room called "Friday Overtime" in LinkedIn through "Share your achievement". The issue I'm experiencing is, after sharing my post in LinkedIn about the room completion, there's a link to the room at the end of the post which I believe acts as the endorsement. I created the vpn file and connected, the interface came up and I connected. I defined the DNS in attackbox, but I still cannot access the ntlmauth and printer subdomains. Do I need to diagnose the other steps suggested for Kali for attackbox? Is it possible to reset the attackbox settings? Normally, when I start attackbox, the settings were correct, what do I need to do to fix it again?

Just a general observation, but uh...

So yesterday, I was clearing room content around 11am local time (EST). The questions were being logged as activity for the prior day, Dec 24th. Fair enough. I cleared more questions after 1pm local time. Still counted for Dec 24th. It was only much later when I tested again on a whim around 2am of today (Dec 26th) that it counted activity for the 25th.

What's up with the timezone offsets? I don't recall them being this absurdly out-of-phase in the past.

Yo, I regenerated my OpenVPN key cuz the old one wasnt working properly, and now if I try to download the openvpn key I just get a file labeled xerrs..ovpn, but, the file is 0 bytes and empty

did a lil bit of testing, and seems as if the EU-Regular-1 VPN Server does not work properly. Maybe test it out for yourself. Switch to EU-Regular-1, regenerate your config file, and the download the config file. It should (if buggy) give you a 0 byte .ovpn file. EU-Regular-2 -> 4 seem to be working fine though.

This type of offset is absurd. EST (Eastern Standard Time) is GMT-5:00. If it were going by GMT to start tracking the new day at midnight, GMT, it would turn over at 7pm EST, yes, but that's when a day would tick forward ahead, not play catch-up. This means that somewhere, TryHackMe's day counter lost track of a day and is behind by 24 hours.

If you read my full self-reply chain, you'll see that this issue was prevalent yesterday as well. I was trying to clear at least one question per day to keep my streak going, as I have for nearly 700 days now since starting, so on Christmas (Dec 25) morning, I answered some questions. Then I went to my Dashboard and saw that no activity was logged for Dec 25. Odd. I tried again later in the day. Same result. I finally started getting Dec 25 activity logged at 2am when I tried some more. Then all questions I answered today (Dec 26) up until 7pm were attributed to Dec 25. EST is not GMT+19, it's GMT-5.

Anyway, I submitted a bug report ticket on the website, now that I've observed behavior closer.

Level 5 is => 1500 points, which I had on Dec 23. Couldn't finish AoC until the 24th, and I only have 1830 points. IIRC when I looked after doing the AoC room I was at 1650 - I've done a handful of rooms sinse then.

Hi, I've been having problems with my VPN (?) since December but it could be something else. I have been using Kali, which runs on WSL2 on my Windows, for the challenges for years. I used to be able to enter the IP address in Firefox for the challenges without any problems and connect to the server. This has not been possible since December. I can see on THM that I am connected to the VPN server and I can also ping the machine, but the page takes ages to load and nothing happens.

I have already connected to several VPN servers, EU-VIP 1 and 2, VIP-US and the regular servers. I have spent a lot of time checking my network, but nothing helps.

Try no to use WSL , a lot of users reported problem with VPN connection and WSL . Install Kali on VM and use it that way 🙂

Hi, thanks for your response 🙂 That's why I'm asking if anything has been changed. Using a VM is not the same as using WSL2. I start Terminal and am immediately connected. Use the command ‘kex’ and it starts the GUI immediately. I have installed so many tools in WSL2 over the years, I would have to do it all over again. I would hate to switch and fix the problem with WSL2.

I have now tried the following:

I did not use WSL2 but installed OpenVPN GUI directly on Windows 10 and connected to THM: ping to the machine works, but the web server loads infinitely again.

I set up LinuxMint with Virtualbox and tried NAT and Bridge in the network settings - here too I can only ping the machine but the website does not load.

I have not changed any settings on Windows. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be?

• make sure with ip a | grep tun that you are left with no tunX interface
• start the openvpn command again
• check with ip a | grep tun that you only have tun0

I understand from your previous messages that you tried several browsers and disabled AV and FW
Somehow, the issue must be at your end, hence these ideas:

• could it be you have network-level firewall/AV, like on your home router (or office/work/education/public infrastructure)?
• make sure you have cleared your browser cache (not enough sometimes to exit the browser)
• can you try using another network for a test, like using a hotspot through your smartphone?
• another avenue worth trying is to connect via a VPN, i. e. not THM VPN but a commercial VPN like ProtonVPN, NordVPN, etc.
  Again, make sure you clear your cache(s) between different attempts

OK. It was combination of multiple thing. My Chrome had ads-blocker and my Security tool has 'Online Threat Prevention' activated.

This room loads the url "https://tryhackme.com/api/v2/rooms/tasks?roomCode=windowslocalpersistence" which is flagged as a Gen.Trojan based on Heuristic analysis.
The page has many commands which, it is safe to say, can be flagged by many tools. I just had to accept the risk in my security tool and Voila!.

I think it is a matter of double checking IP addresses and port: make sure they are consistent between the script and the netcat

there are not that many parameters to check once we know the PHP reverse script works
we can eliminate further an area of problems by focusing on using THM AttackBox (via THM VPN you can always suspect something wrong with firewall, etc.)
hence, how about this to troubleshoot further:

• use THM AttackBox
• redo the procedure using a different port (like 9001 or 1234)
  if that fails, I would terminate the target VM and start with a new one

Having an issue in AoC, on day 23 and I keep getting a parsing error when I try to spin up a machine, but then when I go to try again it says I have a machine running and need to terminate it. Thanks to @valid stone in the advent of cyber chat for confirming this is a known issue and seems to be platform wide. The above fix will work for day 23 but not for rooms that can't be accessed directly via a link as I understand it.

hey all, i have some issues with the vpn connectivity after coming back from a christmas break. i can successfully connect to the vpn, but get disconnected and reconnected every 2 minutes. during these 2 minutes, i do not have connectivity to either the attack box of 10.10.10.10 (to check whether the connection works).

• I have not changed anything on my end. neither on my laptop nor in my home network
• i have tried almost all available vpn endpoints on the websites (both EU and US, and one other)
• i have restarted both the laptop and my entire home network
• i have re-generated the vpn files, and re-downloaded a bunch of times.

no success at all. logs on mac arent really helpful. anyone with similar issues? it has worked flawlessly the weeks before.
