I am working with hashcat for Task 5 of the Password Attacks room. However, I keep receiving the following driver error when using the AttackBox "This OpenCL driver has been marked as likely to fail kernel compilation or to produce false negatives. You can use --force to override this, but do not report related errors." I have tried using the --force argument and do not get results. Are there any workarounds to get the AttackBox to compile correctly or do I need to go spin up my own VM to complete this task?

This is because of discrepancy of how CyberChef and Burp handle those white-characters ( spaces,enters,new lines ) . If you copy/paste discrepancy of how they handle these characters will result in a different output 😄 .

Older versions of CyberChef will provide you the same result as Burp 😄

can someone please give me some advice about Netowrk Services task 6: i tried to make an nmap scan on the machine butt no matter what I try, it allways gives me back no info at all and says that 1 host is up. I tryed full port scanning with -p- and stealth scan with -sS and -Pn butt nothing works, even if I enabled to see more context with -V. Can someone please land me a hand?

You tried scanning smaller range of ports first, the most common ones?

You should use -pn in a conjuction so you can avoid nmap trying to ping the target first, because many hosts drop ICMP request

if you have not finished, I can give you a hint of the range of ports where you should concentrate your nmap
the way to make it way shorter (like a few seconds) is to use the AttackBox and a connect scan (-sT) instead of a SYN scan (-sS)

I have just run nmap through the VPN like you did, but without the -T4 (check nmap output in attached file):
sudo nmap 10.10.97.136 -A -p- -sS
it took me 194 seconds only
if you want to troubleshoot this further, I think it would be interesting if you could run your nmap scan without that -T4 (personally, I do not use these timing parameters, especially if I go over a third-party infrastructure like the internet)
also, what is your latency to the target box? mine is around 30 ms
another thought: are you a subscriber? VMs for non-subs are supposed to be slower, but I do not know if it means slower at start up or slower all the time the VM is up

have you tried to reset the network? there need to be 5 votes for that to be allowed
otherwise, your next step is to use the Options button to leave the network and join again: you will be assigned to a different network
download again the VPN config file: it should be different from the previous one (check the hash for that new file is different from the previous one)
probably best if you leave a few minutes between these steps
Wreath works for me with 10.200.73.0/24 instance, both with THM AttackBox and THM VPN
another idea worth checking: if you have that option, try withTHM AttackBox
please provide feedback on your efforts

try to eliminate one piece at a time which is in the chain to THM, like:

• can you access the pages to other THM rooms?
• try to use another network, like a hotspot with a mobile instead of your regular connection
• are you using a commercial VPN (not meaning THM VPN)? if so disable it, if not try to see whether that works better
• try using a "naked" browser, i. e. fresh from install (without any extensions)
• do you have errors in Dev Tools > Console? if so google them for an explanation

Yup appears that the public attack box has a mismatch between ruby2.7 installed, but evil-winrm expecting ruby2.5 ... and attempting to install evil-winrm on ruby2.7 fails.... probably easier to either spin up your own Kali and VPN in.... OR ... login to the Windows host directly and open powershell.

I think the streak counter is broken. I had a streak of 20-something days and then yesterday it somehow went to 2 and today it didn't even go to 3. I'm 98% sure I did not miss a day plus I should have a streak freeze anyway from the 101 competition.

What is the difference between 1 and multi day streaks? I missed yesterday and did a room today but it seems like I've lost all my freezes, I had an 8 day (1+7 from the latest ticket event) streak freeze. But now it (the streak freezes) won't show up anywhere??

Then why would 7 days exist and why would it show 8 days for me (and 5 days in the article)

Better use john if you're in VM environment , especially AttackBox 😄 . Hashcat is generally more robust and imo better than john but it can have trouble running on machine with such a limited resources suck as AttackBox 😄 .

Hey , Sorry if this has been answered before but I need some guidance connecting to THM network. Lab Machines are running super slow and I wanted to run my own VM.

So far , When opening my config file . I am "connected." I see my IP address and can access the 10.10.10.10 page.

Although I am "connected" , I can't see any lab work content. i.e I was asked to go to my ip address to access some labs for a room and I wasn't able to access them. on the THM access page , I am connected but the network tab is red.

Things I have tried

1. switched regions and re-downloaded config file
2. Downloaded openvpn on Host (Mac) - but had the same issue . "connected" but not.
3. Followed step by step guide on THM on connecting to network
4. Googled reddit, forums , etc for a way to connect.
5. Downloaded openvpn on my VM machine as well

using VMware Fusion on a Mac && Linux as my VM

To be clear , my IP address does show but I can't access any labs.

Any Advice on here?

there are several scenarios possible, but in your situation (a VM with Linux on a Mac host), you run openvpn in a terminal in your Linux VM
for example:

• my host is Windows 10
• I run VirtualBox on that host
• in Virtualbox, I have Kali LInux running

misunderstanding here: you are trying to browse to your tun0 IP, but that is wrong:

• your tun0 IP is linked to a virtual interface on your VM
• browsing to that IP would mean you expect to have a web server running on that IP, which you don't
• so it is expected and normal that it fails
  I can see you can access the THM room: great
  now you are good to start working on that room, or other ones
  do not forget to press the Start Machine button for the target VM, and do not confuse addresses:
• 10.6.21.59 is the IP of your attacking machine
• after the target has launched, you will have a second IP to work with

I think the Blue room actually has a possibility for a failure to occur, it depends on the machine you are attacking.

I recommend restarting the machine you are attacking and trying it on a new host, maybe it will fix it.

If it doesn't please follow the video provided in the Blue room, he has a really amazing walkthrough 🙂

Hello guys, I'm currently working on beginner room - OWASP Juice Shop where I need to use burp - I'm using Attack Box and there I've setup my burp configuration. The problem is that when I'm using internal burp browser (chromium) to track network traffic I have troubles.. Pages are not loading even if I'm waiting few minutes... However when trying to communicate with one of the machines from a room, I don't get any response. The website also says I'm not connected here, but when I go to the access page, it does say I have a connection.

Extensions are not active in the incognito more, no hotspot, I'm on the 1Gbps fiber and any other platform/ website works just fine. I have a screen recording of the simptoms if needed. I also contacted our CSM since we're on Business plan.
