i think that you have regenerated your certificate delete your old certificate and download the new certificate again and try to connect to your ssh again

Hi, for some months now I've been having some conectivity issues, managed to live with them. Now with Advent of Cyber just around the corner, I would like to try to solve them. Basicly, I've was using a kali baremetal with the network manager and importing the openvpn conf file, but it stopped working, I do not remember the exact date. I made a break form THM and then some time later tried again with no success, and even tried every possible server from the list (only the free ones). Now I've moved to a debian 12 baremetal and have the same issues. No error is raised and the tunnel is created, but no conectivity come. 10.10.10.10 is not accessible. Tried from the command line using openvpn client and it connected, but I was not given an ip, could only access through the brwoser, and had to reset the interfaces to disconect. Can anyone help?

Well first see if IP forwarding is enabled by sysctl net.ipv4.ip_forward, if it doesn't return with net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 then it's not enabled, you must allow the traffic to past between the VPN and local network, typically with sudo iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE, and since you're switching your environments there shouldn't be any conflicts applied to your VPN from interface

I also have to restart the pc everytime I try to connect using the terminal, for some reason. It sonnects but then never disconnects, and it's the connect that I have shared. It connects the vpn but no trafic. When I use the drop down on the networkmanager and choose import from configurations file, it does disconect and allow me to use the network again. It is possible to manually kill the vpn in cli, but it was a pain, so it's easier just to restart the laptop

I do both, but when I'm doing stuff, because I can only access the machines when connected to the vpn, if I want to search something I have to disconnect, search, and then reconect, and it's more practical through the GUI. Also, It used to show my ip address when connected, very handy when coding reverse shells.

But it does not work anymore, I don't knw why. But I'll try solving that another day. For know I just have to spam terminals with openvpn, then start closing them until the conectivity pops up.

In the kali machine, I never actually ran through the terminal, I only used the GUI for the vpn connection

It does. Here are my routing tables. Network Manager creates the entry for tun0 interface for default route (0.0.0.0) with a lower metric (50) than eth0 (100) meaning that all traffic will go over tun0.

And if I traceroute for cdnjs.cloudflare.com domain, it's clear it goes over the VPN interface. Note 10.11.0.1, which is the gateway for VPN interface.

Okay. I figured it out. openvpn CLI actually sets up the routing tables so that only traffic for THM networks goes over the VPN interface (tun0). Meanwhile, Network Manager sets it up so that ALL traffic will go over the VPN interface.

But when I inject Reverse Shell payload on target machine I'm not able to get shell, But when I use web base attack box for same target machine, same payload and I got a access to target machine. Yeah, after switching my browsers and completely reassigning all my passwords over to a new browser (thank god for the import feature), and introducing a new password manager as well, I can finally say the issue is fixed.

To be completely honest I've been facing this issue with other websites and I've always kept a clean cache and never any browsing history, which could be the slowing factors for the browser

Everytime I use a certain browser for a prolonged time it just becomes very slow and unusable, but after switching from Firefox to Brave everything works smooth like butter

If it's OpenVPN then it can sometimes introduce latency issues because if it gets overburdened with encryption, means that it will create drops, you can try different protocol in that case such as wireguard or IKEv2

You should configure target machines so they allow longer sessions in case of any timeouts

hello yall.. I've been using the attackbox provided by the THM website and I've recently tried to use my own THM-playground through OracleVirtualBox (Debian-KaliLinux iso). I've done so just for those 'task files', so I can download them on my PC and then forward them on my VM through a shared folder.
