This is very strange, I personally never heard of the browser you're using and I don't know how good it is in terms of performance, I became a fan of Brave after using Opera for a lot of years and with around 20 tabs opened including YT / Twitch / THM (with VM) it uses around 2GB of RAM in total, you should give it a try if you haven't 🙂

Hi:) Unfortunately yeah...running the VPN within a VPN usually causes some weird behaviour due to routing and such. This can be commercial VPNs, or self-ran like your own OpenVPN or Wireguard

I don't quite know the technicals behind why it gets a bit weird, but it's a routing thing with OpenVPN, especially if you are running Kali in say a VM

ping worked. so the routing was correct. ssh also worked... only no content from http.

In that case, if it works with another machine, it also depends on what room you're doing. But I have seen from users here before that somethings like ping work, but as soon as a notable amount of data is sent (I.e. http), especially with MTU as a factor

For example, WSL1 suuuuuucks

WSL2 is better as it's technically a VM in HyperV, but it can still be quite weird in specific ways

The general advice i'd give is that make sure you aren't running a VPN within a VPN (in some way) 🙂

Yeah, chaining VPN with TCP kinda makes a mess if you go over the MTU for your primary VPN then segments will be split causing extra TCP overhead. It's better to reduce the MTU on THM openvpn just enough so that whatever the TCP headers OPENVPN puts in does not overflow the MTU for your primary vpn

Which room ? Some machines ( Windows ) don't respond to ICMP ( ping ) messages by default . Maybe the machine from your room isn't supposed to be accessed on port 80/443 ( through the browser ) .

I'm not aware of the program. However, internet access in the Attackbox is restricted to subscribers only. Also, no internet access is provisioned to the targets, except for one or two boxes.

Have you joined the room / network you want to access? You'll need to do so before you can access the OpenVPN file for it.

ye i did both refreshes the scan was gobuster from attackbox to a room machine and it started giving me error messages in the terminal about 30seconds after the pop up that the machine had expired

it has done it many times before aswelll but it has never been an actual issue just a few minutes rather than 50% though a scan which is taking a good chunk of time

referring to my screenshot, where, like you did, I started THM AttackBox and the target VM for "Gobuster: The Basics":

• on the right side, you have THM AttackBox: the "plus sign" button at the bottom allows to extend the time of that machine
• on the left side, you have a header at the top relating to the target VM: for that machine you extend the time by pressing the "Add 1 hour" button (not a "plus sign" button)
  This set up is not the same for all rooms: some target VMs open in the right side (like the Windows Fundamentals series), and in that case extending the time is also via a "plus sign" button

unfortunately, there does not seem to be feedback from users about how the issue was solved
I can only assume it was an intermittent situation
I am not very patient, so whenever I personally have that kind of issue, I quickly go for a clean sheet: refreshing with Ctrl+F5, restarting VMs, clearing cookies, restarting browser, logout/login, whatever
In the end, things work 🙃

Go to console tab and look for errors when you try to add time, they might indicate some issues with scripts or API calls which are failing. Some apps are tracking session time in a local storage value so if you find any specific session cookie there you should modify it

It would be good if you had direct API access, since then you could send the request manually with tools

You can always force the cache refresh as then no outdated files will be interfering

Hi, I do not need any support just trying to get some tickets (lol) but I noticed that in the networking concepts room, task 2. You don't actually have to get the layer right you just have to type Layer and it automatically assumes you are correct even if you are not. I know this isn't a big thing but It could confuse or discourage thinking mindset in people who are newer to these concepts. I don't know if this is the right chat room for this or if its even significant, just thought id mention!

I also tried other labs like GoldenEye and it was accessible over the browser without any issue
