I am trying to connect to a machine using OpenVpn connection on linux, here are the steps that I did :

1. I downloaded the openvpn config. file
2. I connected to the ovpn file using the terminal, in the access page on thm website it says that I am connected to openvpn
3. (The machine is deployed) When I copy the Target IP perfrom a "curl IP/whoami" it doesn't connect giving me "Failed To Connect"

note: this problem occured to me using OpenVPN Client on windows and using the openvpn command on both kali and parrot

p.s. : I tried walkthroughs and did the access room, still can't connect to any room machine using openvpn

host disovery with nmap is an important subject: just do man nmap
so, nmap does host discovery in many different ways, whether you are on the same LAN (like with THM Attackbox) or not (like with your VM), whether you are root or not, etc.
I do not think you can just consider that nmap is suppoed to discover host

depending on your experience, I suggest the key take-away from this is: when you have a Windows machine (like Blue), it is likely you will have to use the -Pn option
everybody starting with reconnaissance goes through that bit
you are doing good with experiencing this
one suggestion: do not think, at this moment, of testing as many nmap scripts as possible: concentrate on the other options for port scanning, UDP vs. TCP, etc.
final advice: do THM nmap rooms, they are VERY good (see screenshot for the 5 of them: the one in double square is the first one)
when you have done them, revisit them from time to time

I guess you know about using the Options button to leave the network and join back a few minutes later: you get assigned to a different subnet, i. e. a different network instance, maybe more stable than the previous one
about losing access, could it be enough votes had been reached for the network to reset (the status "Running" in green becomes "Resetting")?
another reason for losing connection documented in the text material is that, on the AttackBox, DNS resets every 3 hours

Currently working through the Jr. Penetration Tester module, section: Network Security, Sub-section: Active Reconnaissance. There is a VM in Task 3 and a VM in Task 6. The written instructions didn't mention the need to kill the VM in Task 3 and to start the VM in Task 6 - spent ~30 minutes trying to run commands that just weren't working because the new VM wasn't started. Where do I go to request that that be explicitly stated at the start of Task 6?

The only workaround I found is to remove the full name to make it display the username. But then when you complete a cert you get it with the username instead of the full name

That is true.

My point is:
Why can't we have the option to display our username instead of the full name on the dashboard, like we used to, without having to remove the full name from the account.
Having the full name on the account can be useful for generating certs. But the full name does not have to be displayed on our dashboard right after we login.

Hi also have a problem with vpn. Downloaded multiple vpns and connected for a few minutes and lose connection. Cannot ping the box. Reset the box, connect for a bit and it drops out and cant ping it again. My VM has internet and HTB boxes work. My tools all work. Is this a THM issue? Was happening last night too.

CTRL + C on vpn command and restarting it gives me a few minutes of connection but still drops
