What do you mean you "uploaded to your profile?" like in the GUI? Also some more information would be helpful like the vpn server you are using, the OS you are on & rather you are using the cmd or the gui version of openvpn

In case anyone else runs into this issue, regenerating the config did not work. I had to manually edit and add the cipher line, the data-cipher line already existed. I could not connect on both MacOS and Windows till I did this.

Hi, I am trying to participate in AOC-2023 event. I started the VM and then I wanted to set up my own attack box. So, my host machine is ubuntu 20.04 running openvpn 2.6.8. I downloaded the openvpn profile, it looked fine. Then I started it with: sudo openvpn chesteroni.openvpn.

Hi, is there someone I can talk to about the provision of materials in alternative accessible formats? Some of the content in the first Advent of Cyber 2023 challenge concerned me in terms of how content in the future might be presented and how I might be at a disadvantage as a result of my visual impairment. My specific concerns are demonstrative images and the connection cards (I'm ignoring the comic as I believe that to be decorative and I believe it to mirror what the content beneath it in meaning).

Given the nature of Advent of Cyber (rolling challenges with a deadline), it would be ideal if this could be sorted as soon as possible so as to enable me to take part in the challenge in a similar cadence to my fellow community members who are not visually impaired.

Does THM offer a free trial of the sub mode? I'm brand new to cyber security and looking to dip my feet in, but kinda strapped on cash right now. Wanting to see if this is for me or not.

I don't think there is a free trial, students get a 20% discount though if that applies to you. Additionally there is a promotion for 20% of annual plans with the code AOC2023, but if you are low on cash then a monthly might be wiser so you can just try a month and see. If you want to just get a really rough idea of the content available you can go to the room search and filter by subscriber rooms to see how many rooms there are for just subs and what topics the rooms cover.

You don't need a VPN for that task, just open up the split-screen view

Once you launch the machine it should split your browser window into two showing you the machine on the right side, if you can't see this you can hit the "show split view" button

I had that exact same problem. Apparently that configuration file doesnt have a SSL certificate, so its not accepted by the package. Id be happy to be corrected or have someone elaborate on this

The terminal will stay like while while you're connected. Just open a new tab

That's how you end the VPN connected when you're done as well, just go back to that tab that you started the connection from and Ctl+C

Well most terminal emulators just let you open a new tab but yeah you could open a new terminal window as well

You could also background it with ctrl+z but I don't like doing that because I'm prone to forgetting that it's there lol

Oh yeah okay, well for this room specifically it's designed to be used with that specific Linux instance. They mean for you to do this room in the browser.

Most rooms won't be like that, and so if there are any specific files you need they will either be easily available on the internet or there will be a link to download them in the room

But yeah for this room just use the browser instance
