I have been emailing Tryhackme for 2 weeks now, and there is litteraly no response from them.
As a student who has been promoting THM among university students, this is horrible. Why is THM so slow in replying to emails? And when it comes to financial issue that was done from their side, its more dissappointing.
Please reply and solve the issue asap, I feel like scammed right now. With no response from THM from past 2 weeks.

The THM Mods are different from THM Support. Also, according to what I read, standard response time is at 8-9 days (excluding weekends) so please be patient. Depends on your preference. I used to have VMWare, but now I've switched to Virtualbox as its free and has more functionality than VMWare Player. The same functionalities in Virtualbox are available in VMWare Workstation which is a paid one.

You can tell nmap to skip host checking with -Pn

Because nmap does some rudimentary checks first before port scanning to make sure the host is alive

I have exhausted my knowledge of nmap scans (-Pn -sC -sV -O) and cant seem to find the services running on port 1000. Looking at the man page or github documentation of a tool would be helpful. In the case of nmap, there is a switch or flag you can use to enumerate what service is running on each port. I'll leave that task to you, but let me know in case of questions.

In terms of what exploit to use, you can do your research using Google (or a search within MSF) for an exploit you can leverage for a particular vulnerability.

As you practice and build your skills, you will see for yourself that it is an easy box.

For now, I suggest you look at walkthrough rooms for you to copy their methodology while you build your own. I used the methodology described by The Cyber Mentor. You can look up his YT videos on how he tackled and rooted challenge boxes.

Go back to the access site (https://tryhackme.com/access)

Change your VPN Server to EU-Regular 2 -> Click on regenerate and wait a few minutes.
When the wait is over download the new config file and try again.

This fixed the problem for me.
