hello tech support -- for some reason, I can't get the openvpn on my kali to work . . . it keeps running, breaking on a line "Restart pause, 64 seconds(s)", then will to again. I've changed servers 3 times, rebooted 2x, what else can i do? I'm sure it's something simple. I was initially running NordVPN, but I cancelled that service and rebooted . . . still having the same issue. The last VPN Server I selected was US-West-VIP-1. ok, so you have connectivity. if you are getting an error with SSH at this point, you should be asking in #room-help or #room-hints 🙂 Also the specific SSH you are getting is likely to be very common.... i would recommend understanding the context of the error before saying that it's broken 🙂

okay, it sounds like you already have, this is an MTU problem, and can be solved by changing the MTU while running the vpn, please try and run the VPN as normal and while it runs do this command
sudo ip link set dev tun0 mtu 1200
This will set your vpn interface to a proper MTU that might fix the problem

hello all, probably an exciting morning with the page being down. I have what's probably a very basic problem compared to that. just started with THM and working on the Wreath room but cannot scan/ping/browse/anything the target ip

  1. Room Network state is Running and assigned IP of 10.200.73.200
  2. I have the green "connected via OpenVPN" banner which shows my machine's IP on the THM web page
  3. the THM troubleshooting script is giving me the "connectivity checks complete and you are connected" with no issues
  4. I've regenerated openvpn file twice and loaded it up with no effect
  5. target machine is unresponsive to pings and nmap comes back with IP down
  6. I quickly watched the DarkStar machine walkthrough to see if I missed anything as well

It's best to do THM in a VM, even if you make a VM of Windows, but I do suggest linux

Hello, Just got started with tryhackme and trying to do the openvpn room just to confirm I have my vpn working correctly. I am using a windows machine and I downloaded my openvpn config file from tryhack me, got openvpn saying connected, tryhackme access page saying I am connected, and could see the ip address it says I was assigned in tryhack me in one of my network adapters on my pc. Everything looked like it should be working fine, but I was unable to open the test website in the openvpn room or ping anything. Any ideas? I also redownloaded config file muiltiple times for muiltiple different servers to see if that would help and got no luck.

well endeavour os is an easy to install nearly vanilla arch experience

My first linux distro I tried was Arch, Manjaro in specific, it's just amazing out of the box and the community is so helpful and full of answers and articles

Possibly to reduce complexity?
As they all ship with their separate tools, adding multiple different detection cases might become messy

For things like Windows, we would need to add a .bat version (but Windows is harder to resolve as I believe the user needs to manually install the CLI?)

strange new issue when completing a room i don't get the typical Share with linked in etc etc or the button to continue to the next room in the skill path pop .. ill try logging out of everything and what not but i checked public profile from cell phone which i never log in with and its still showing the strange year data.. hopefully i can stay up another 2hrs and try to msg them through their portal but ..

ya i just completed the metasploit room and earned that badge.. something is off. as well it wasn't presenting the typical pop up just the confetti and then nothing .. ill try to report or chat on their web chat if im still up. I have subbed a ticket in the past but their bot is too general so i wish i could sub a ticket with weird issues and not put it in as a streak fix request no i dont believe the streak is broken how ever i should still have a pending freeze.. I will be leaving town next week and would like to reserve the freeze incase i can't get to a computer for a day or 2

Hi all, I need some support on completing the upload vulnerabilities room, task 11. I was able to upload a reveres JS shell file with its file extension changed to .jpg(the file extension was changed to jpg to counter the MIME filter on the server), the gobuster scan shows that the file is stored in the /content folder. After these steps , I had setup the netcat listener and tried to launch the shell via the admin page using the command ../content/<filename> but the page returned an error which says module does not exist. I don't know why this error should be returned by the server as the file upload was successful . Need some help to solve this. Is there a bug in the room or am I missing something here ?

Hi, I've just completed AOC2023 and when I click on Certificate button it only says " Fetching certificate, please wait."
Popup is not blocked. I can download other certificates, but this one I cant. I tried it on different computer and it's same. Thanks
