Can't do VPN either. It shows on my network access page that I'm logged in when I'm not. If I try to use the connect command in my Kali VM it keeps looping repeatedly. It ends up saying ERROR: failed to apply push options and failed to open tun/tap interface.

Hello, im working in the file inclusion room, and i'm trying to use burpsuite for one of the challenges, however any time i try to run a burpsuite browser within the attack box it just endlessly loads, i tried running the proxy from the base 127 ip and my attackbox's specific ip, but nothing seems to work, any suggestions?

I've been trying to single boot kali on my macbook pro (early 2015, intel chip) and was wondering if there is a way to do this without having a bootable USB. Each time I've tried to do use my bootable USB I get a fatal error wtih GRUB. Just curious if there is an easier way to wipe my macOS and just have this machine run kali. I do not want to use a VM.

Hello, I recently signed up using my gmail but then changed the email associated with my account to my student email (and verified both emails) but now when I try logging in it won't accept my student email. Trying to get openvpn working, had some issues and ran the trouble shooter for the first time and it fixed what it said was broken, and that I was good to go. I tried to connect to the test site thm supplies for the connection and got the refusing connection error, re ran troubleshooter and got this message, any suggestions?

So I tried 2nd terminal, that didnt work. My next thought was to run openvpn in the background so I'd have a command bar and could run the ip link command, and that didnt seem to have an effect. Then I ran the troubleshooter with the vpn in the background, and that prompted changing mtu to 1440, and ultimately said I was connected. To add to what Fontaene said, all of the VMs attached to tasks in rooms will be different. So you can't expect SSH credentials of one machine to work with another. Similarly, you can't expect one VM to be configured the same way as another. The only VM that remains the same (expect when it gets updated) is the Attackbox.
The important thing is to make the distinction between the Attack box and a VM attached to a room or task. Hope this helps clarity it.

I ran the script multiple times and it would check connectivity but it would complete and tun0 wasn't up

I'm having a little bit of a problem with OWASP-Juice-Shop task 4 Question 1. I got Burp to start the attack but during the "request" it starts to dramatically slow down in processing the word list and then eventually stops with the last few entries just not showing a status next to them. This last time the list stopped at aroun 892 and the last word that generated a result was at 880. Word 881 does have an error check in the column

What am I supposed to expect in regards to performance and the stopping of the process before it's complete? What I mean by stopping is that it looks lt stops working.

If you are trying to paste into the attack box from your computer you need to do what dq said, click the arrow, and paste in the box that opens then in the attack box

Clearly it seems that the ciphers fix I applied to TryHackMeโ€™s VPN troubleshooting script is a hit or miss.

I donโ€™t know why, it works for me.

If either of you want to write a test case that, instead of checking the output for the deprecated option, greps their OpenVPN file for data-ciphers AES blah blah, and if it doesnโ€™t return true, then check the file, Iโ€™ll merge it

Hello, I'm having an issue with openvpn connecting to the tryhackme systems.

Sure. I'll give you the context first. I usually use attackbox but have recently built a new laptop and have a fresh install of parrot security. I downloaded openvpn. Changed my server to the one closest to me and generated the config file. I waited a couple minutes then downloaded it. I started openvpn and have data going through the terminal. Access detail says I'm connected, however when I try to access any tryhackme page I hang. I have not started any other vpn. And have killall openvpn also and retried.

Issue was resolved. Changed "cipher" on line 14 of ovpn to "--data-cyphers"

Hi, I have downloaded the openvpn file required to connect to vpn(and connected), i am currently on the "Intro to Offensive Security" machine, I try to ping the ip address but it is not responding?

Hello, I am working on the Nessus basics room. Task 4 has you try to scan a machine, but I cannot connect to the machine. I've tried through a KaliVM and Kali on bare metal. Nessus cannot find it and I can't even get it to return packets using Ping. Can anyone confirm they have/don't have the same issue so I can better diagnose? Thanks

You may need to edit your .ovpn file -

change the line 'cipher AES-256-CBC' to 'data-ciphers AES-256-CBC'

Can someone assist with this issue. For the past 4 days in the Network Services room running nmap on the target VM, I'm not able to get nmap to work on port scanning the target. Each time, each result comes back as All 1000 scanned ports on <IP address> are closed. Even after terminating and resetting the VM. If this is common, can you direct me where I can find the solution to resolving this if this issue has been answered solved in another chat? please and thanks

I did some digging on tihs for myself and it looks like the specific cipher (AES-256-CBC) was removed from OpenVPN in 2.6. Ill run the VPNscript and see what happens

I've reverted to free tier, will be renewing my membership but not quite yet. I've been trying to use the attackbox and on free tier the web browser is unusable. Nothing loads and everything eventually just times out. More concerned about this as an issue for people being introduced to the platform for trying it out on free if basic capabilities aren't working.
