For me it was just an issue with browser trying to aggressively manage resources I think.

Sort of.
The time on the page can get out of sync with how much time is actually left on the active machine.

I've had times where I click to add time thinking I had 15 minutes left, and then find it only had 2minutes left when I added.

My brain isn't fully lit right now.
Attack box, not target box is what's giving you trouble.

I believe the attack box has limits, but I don't know if those are active during AoC?

Hi, I've been getting a blank white screen repeatedly after trying to initialize the in-browser Linux machine. I'm at the linuxfundamentalspart1 page, have tried today and yesterday, on Chrome and Firefox (both up to date), but it is always just a blank white screen after it loads, no matter how long I wait.

weird question, I am using Obsidian to take notes, and I am trying to copy some of the example terminal texts into my notes. Early on I was able to get them to copy without issue and they formatted properly, but now every time I do they are not formatted correctly and I have to manually format them to get them to look right. What am I missing here?

Hey, I have the same issue as @elder flax , I start the attackbox, msfconsole, search laravel and I only get one result, and it's not the same exploit as the one mentioned in the walkthrough. I also searched for 'ignition' etc. but the only result that comes up is 0 exploit/unix/http/laravel_token_unserialize_exec.

Suggestions much appreciated cause I'm not sure how to proceed here if the mentioned exploit doesn't seem to be on the AttackBox. Thanks!

i was able to connect to HTB cuz they use tcp but couldnt connect to THM cuz its udp and i couldnt connect to HTB when i switched to udp there, so is there a way to turn the vpn config to tcp or is there a way to fix that i cant connect on any udp connection

yeah I think there's a bug with the timers + terminating the machines. They keep running when they're terminated, but it also doesn't abide by the timers (maybe it's previous ones expiring that try and kill the currently running one?)

Yeah, the target, the one that launches when you hit "start machine" on a task

this was from my last proper attempt. It just dies

Well, so it's not the machine dying, it's the meterpreter session dying.

I had that too, not sure how exactly that resolve module works, but just skip that part for now.
You can get the host IP from the task

That was when there was an hour remaining on the timer. I got spammed with the same "timer running out, add time" when there was around ~30 mins remaining, so I added more time, then a couple mins later, it just fully disconnected everything and removed it from the page.

It's not just meterpreter disconnecting, it was the entire thing that was unable to be connected to

it closed the whole thing

the bar that says the time remaining, the ip, etc when you start a machine, that went

the "start machine" button then got greyed out and I'm unable to launch it again

using inspect element I changed it to be clickable, and clicking it gave me the error that I can only have 1 thing running at a time. I ran the console command (again) and refreshed, same issue

Not sure if this is your issue, but I noticed last year that attackbox time did not appear to save. It was one open, up to a max of 60 min.
Attackbox is separate from most split screen and "start machine" tasks/rooms so it was harder for me to figure out why somwtimes I could seemingly use it a few times and why some days it was only once.

I'm at a loss for getting connected with OpenVPN. My access page says connected but I can not connect to 10.10.10.10. I've run the the thm-troubleshoot script and all comes out green except it cannot verify connection. I get 2 errors when running openvpn:

I'm running Nethunter on an android tablet running android 11 (LineageOS 18.1 rooted). Connecting OpenVPN directly from android works fine and gives me acces but not from within Nethunter (as expected).

We've heard your reports about being disconnected from the machine for today's (Day 12) AoC task. (note: this issues may be present for everyone across the site regardless of AoC) We're really trying to increase capacity for everyone -- but it looks like you're all super eager to get today's task done! 😄

We're adding the credentials to access the VM for AoC's Day 12 (this is a lesson learned from us!) so that you can use the VPN and connect to your machine with no problem. Some troubleshooting steps for you:

1. Terminate and re-deploy the machine. If you're getting errors like being asked for credentials to login - this should fix this
2. If you keep on getting disconnected: Either wait a little bit, or look out for the credentials being added to the room (so that you can connect to the VPN and connect directly!)

Apologies for this! We're super aware and are working on it ✨ 🎅

Edit: the credentials have been added to the room (again - make sure you're connected to the VPN). You'll need to refresh the room/page to see these 🙂

as you login directly to the machine and not use the servers in the middle

I've had this issue as well and what I believe is that it's based on a 24 hour cycle, rather than a daily cycle. For instance, if I complete a question at 8pm tonight, but then don't do it again until 9pm tomorrow night, that is more than 24 hours between questions and it therefore resets. What I would expect is that within a 00:00-23:59 on any given date if I complete a question my streak continues. Sadly, that is not the case it seems.

If it helps, I've noticed the 24 hour cycle changes at midnight. Apparently this is global and works in your timezone. I was late one evening and popped another 'Day badge' at 23:30 or so. Carrying on in a room, answered another question after midnight and another 'Day badge' notification appeared. So if in doubt, answer a question before midnight

If that were true then it I wouldn't have lost my streak. It was only when I surpassed the 24 hour mark that I got reset. Despite having participated the day before. It might be midnight for you because that's when you first completed a question for your current streak.

For instance, when I reset, I had dome some questions around 1pm one day, but didn't get to do more until about 4pm the next day and my streak was reset.

I am having issues, I am picking up where I left on in a room using nmap. I have my attack box open and ready and the target to run an nmap scan (this is for the entry level lesson on service enumeration)
I was able to get through the SMB part and came back to do the telnet and ssh today. My browser tabs were all closed and PC reset.
When I nmap scan the IP address , it just says all ports are closed. I even looked at a guide just to make sure I was using the right parameters for nmap and I am.
I am seeing lots of connection issues from other people and want to know if this is part of that? I had no issues with the SMB part yesterday.

You're using the attackbox in the browser? Since you had all your tabs close, did you re-launch the vulnerable PC as well? Perhaps the IP has changed since your last commands?

This issue was replicated by another user @royal hornet when they were kind enough to try and help.

Multiple scan parameters were used , all with the same error. This worked fine last night. so, if somethings going on on your end...just say so and I will play with some hardware toys I just got (flipper zero w/ wifi board expansion) and a few ESP8266 NodeMCU chips.
I can be patient, just be transparent.

Hey. I need some help with my vpn connection. I am using AttackBox .
When I entered "ssh [e-mail].x.x" in the terminal, after waiting for several tens of seconds, the error message "connection timed out" was output.
I am a paid member and I believe I can use it without time limit, but is this a misunderstanding? If it is not a misunderstanding, how can I resolve this?
In the meantime, I tried changing the MTU value and typing "ping xxx.xxx.xxx.x.x", but the former did not work and the latter did not get any response. I would appreciate it if someone could help me out.

a connection timeout generally refers to a TTL exceeded situation, where the "time to live" value has gone over what is allowed, meaning the connection is automatically dropped to free up that connection for someone else. doesn't necessarily have to do with sub/nonsub, it could indicate a connectivity issue with the machine you're attempting to connect to

Not all rooms/tasks require you to use SSH, for the nmap room you just need to use the Attackboxes terminal to run the commands against the Machine attached to the room.

Figured out the issue. Some time ago I had finished the burp suite basics room but decided to reset the answers because I wanted to take notes of the entire burp suite module. Even though the room is checked off as complete it didn't give me the badge because the answers for burp suite basics had been reset. Turns out all questions in each room have to be filled out even if you completed the room but reset the questions. I find this kinda dumb but hopefully in the future THM will be able to set options to give badges based off of room completion and not room task completion.

I would be very careful about what gets detonated and where. Isolating the VM while also getting data from what the malware is doing is a very difficult balance to get right. It's not an area for amateur exploration, strongly recommend using a professionally prepared sandbox product.

Check out cuckoo sandbox if you insist on going down this route. Proper sandboxing is not easy, and it's fairly easily to make a mistake that could allow malware to escape confinement or not detonate properly

Hi all, having issue with the Day16 of adventofcyber4, instruction says we dont need attackbox "Start Machine" would give access to the box itself, as per the instruction video, it looks like split window option comes, but in my case I dont have that option and machine gives just the IP address

I started a Browser Kali machine and then reloaded the page and now it won't let me start another Kali machine because it thinks I have one running but i have no Idea how to terminate it.

I've regenerated the .ovpn a few times, accessing via aus. I've never had issues with this till a bit ago, no change on my part. The boxes seem to start/stop with connectivity or function. Pinging them hangs
, I'll be in the middle of a dirb, nmap or even ping and it will just stop.

Thank you! changing mtu to 1200 seems to have done the trick! I had already tried the diagnostic script from MuirlandOracle which set the mtu to 1450 (I think). I thought that was working as pings were going through. Thanks for the help! 😄

i think the "streak" is 24 hours, if you did something at 9am and next day at 10 am, you loose it but i can be wrong. I loose it too. One lost shouldn't if it was by day but after i didn't do a day, i was too tired
