when i want to connect to tryhackme boxes i get this error recently. i have used openvpn for quite sometime and it has just broken suddenly. i use openvpn for another server as well and it has the same error.

Can anyone assist with a VPN connection? I have already tried all the steps on the guide, and run the thm-troubleshoot script (which reports Something went wrong -- please ask for further assistance in the TryHackMe Discord server, subreddit, or forum). VPN connects fine and adds the necessary route, also in my profile>access it reports me as connected, however the room I am working on (Holo) does not report me as connected.

Suddenly, I'm unable to connect via OpenVpn ..

  • I tried different servers and was able to ping their IPs successfully, however I was not able to connect to the port 1194.
  • I also noticed that all generated configs are using UDP.
  • I tried to connect to anoth platform using OpenVpn and it was not working for UDP but worked fine for TCP443.

** So, assuming this is the isse, is there a way to test connection with TCP not UDP? Or how can I troubleshoot the connection?

That's up to your bosses. Potential for damage from breaking stuff is pretty high, especially for inexperienced testers.

That's not what I'm saying. Testing on live systems is a terrible idea, and if you break something important, best case is usually that you only get fired. Worst case could be criminal charges from the police, or even a lawsuit from the employer because the breakage could cause the business to not make money until it's fixed.
You sound like you are pretty new to security in general, which is why I'm making this point over and over and over. There are right ways to go about introducing a company to best security practices, and what you've said so far causes me to believe that you and your company have no clue what those are.

I have connected via my host (macbook) to your openVPN and I also have a virtual kali maschine running on my mac. The problem is sometimes I need programms on my mac and sometimes from the virtual kali maschine but I cannot connect both at the same time to your VPN. Is there any way to set up the VM so that it goes to the internet with the IP adress of my macbook (host)? Or any other way I can connect the VM and the Host to the same VPN at the same time (maybe via iptunnel, bridge or something) ? thanks for answers

yes I mean I can connect from my VM to the THM openvpn but , I have some programms on my macbook too, and when I connect to the vpn from the VM I cannot connect to the VPN from my macbook os as well.

I can´t install for example owasp zap proxy on my kali vm. So you think it´s a better idea to use the VM vor the vpn? okay. It´s just that some programms like burp suite are running much smoother on my mac than in the kali vm.

Zap does run on Java 8+. Worst case would be pull down the source and build with javac.

Hello. My wreath machine died on me and I went to reset everything but now I lost connectivity. This happened to me yesterday (with the two openvpn processes). it gave me a tun0 and a tun1. I killed them both and was good after that. Now, i have just a tun0 and multiple openvpn's going (which I dont). Anyone have advice on resolving this issue? Thank you.

In room Splunk 2 (splunk2gcd5) Task 5, question 2, regarding the season and episode. The file found shows S#E# in the filename but the answer is formatted as S##E## with no indication you need to add additional numbers to your answer.
I was only able to figure out adding the additional numbers from a question/answer here on discord.

I think there may be a bug with the streak system. I did 2 answers before midnight but I got notified for day 1 of a streak. I checked the public profile activity tracker and it did not register the 2 questions for Oct 11th. Hi all - running into an issue around the Atlassian CVE-2022-26134 room. Target VM was started close to 30 mins ago, but port 8090 doesn't appear to be open (though the target VM itself is pingable) - I can't get to the login panel via a web browser, nor does the exploit find the version of Confluence for the target (which tells me that service may be unresponsive/failing to start).

FWIW - There's some mention of Confluence taking a while to start under "Task 2" - "Note: Please wait for a minimum of seven minutes for this machine to start up before attacking." Is it possible that this is a conservative estimate and the service is still starting up after close to 30 mins, or have others reported reported similar issues?

Hey 🙂 I am trying to do some work on the nahamstore room. I have connected to my VPN and if I go to the website' s IP, it works! However, If I change my /etc/host and setup that the IP should be pointing to a speific domain, it just buffers forever. This is only happening when I am trying to connect with HTTP. I can ping nahamstore.thm and it gives me a answer. However if I Try to CURL it or connect via browser, it just buffers forever

Hey guys i can't connect to EU-1 or EU-2 Openvpn - i need to connect to one of those else its way to slow to do anything.
