alright ill share my wild theory here: the tree of names is the original mark of the luxon: powerful, whole, and able to change the destinies of the gods themselves. It gets sundered during the calamity and its leaves/fruits get scattered as the smaller luxon beacons found later

We’ve got the calamity right now. But somehow, that feels like the least of our problems, because there are 2 primordials that were not killed

That's why those fiends coughed up blood after they did the tree power stuff during that fight. The tree was the source of the power scribing a spell of protection across the entire world. The druids were using the wizards as much as the wizards were using them. The tree protects the world and the replenishment kept the Primordial sealed
Now neither of those things are happening
The betrayers are returned and there is not the power to keep the last living Primordial sealed

I think there’s also two things worth noting. A. Mercer homebrews/modifies a lot of monsters, and B. LoVM isn’t a “D&D show”. And while there are definitely things in the show that are recognizable in D&D, it’s perfectly normal (and honestly expected) for them to take certain liberties for the sake of the narrative.
Cuz even if those are wraiths, the ones in the show don’t function exactly like their statblock would suggest.
So to me it’s either a case of “they’re Mercer homebrew” or “they’re wraiths, but made scarier for TV”.
