Matt confirmed on twitter that this was always the plan. Travis made a character for C3, told Matt he wanted them to come in later than the rest, Matt wanted Travis to still be able to play so Travis brought back a lvl 5 Betrand Bell to fill the gap, and Matt would kill him at some point.

Multiclassing is a choice of variety over raw power. It's not necessarily "sub par" or "overpowered".

I did however, build a rogue/fighter multiclass that, by level 5, outputs three attacks at turn at 1d8+3 each with sneak attack on top of that.

Something I really liked about c3e5, is Matt openly saying "Spell combos, awesome, little bonuses", which means I can just enjoy it because I know they know and they opt to do this purposefully with the knowledge this isn't base rules, but they have it because fun.

what is an irritant however, is getting fundamental basic rules wrong. like ranged attacks: you have a hostile that isn't incapacitated within 5 feet of you? Disadvantage on every ranged attack unless you have crossbow expert or gunner.

The blood hunter got a complete overhaul some time ago. He changed from being a wisdom class to an int class. Several features were reworked too.

Maybe Matt will update anything that comes up during campaign 3 and puts it in but who knows.
