I made this map and BBEG token (Deathlock with a Kraken Patron) for my homebrew game and thought I'd share it here if anyone wants to use it! (We used it in Roll20) The map is meant to show the corruption from the Kraken's body that permeated the ocean floor, utilizing battlefield mechanics from Ghosts of Saltmarsh. I put loot in the remainder of the Kraken's mouth, but that could also easily be the entrance to another dungeon crawl!

The Twilight Descent

Ancient stairs wind down into this semi-covered hole where the sun never shines. At one time a descent into old tombs and crypts, it has now become the dwelling of a scavenging tribe of subhuman morlocks – descendants of the peoples who once sealed their dead away in this very hole.

Stairs descend from the surface to the base of the hole. If assumed to be directly representational illustrations of stairs, they descend some 45 feet or so from the surface. The walls of the hole at the bottom are pierced in several places by both human sized cave entrances and a number of smaller holes for the morlocks to watch for invaders.

These same stairs split on their way down – one set circling the central stone to the bottom, the other set following the wall of the hole through to several old caves cut into the stone and collapsing completely before reaching the final tomb which is about 15 feet above the bottom of the hole.

The tombs themselves are generally avoided by the residents who remain in awe of their ancestors. A few “holy folk” and those touched by the ancestors are willing to enter these places, and a few even live in the upper areas among the long-desiccated dead.

Currently in our 4 year long campaign the players have made it to the Exiled city! A floating city that is home to ancient monk orders as well as sky sailors! The oldest buildings have a Feudal Japan aesthetic While the newer buildings look more colonist by design of the various sky sailors that settled there!

This piece depicts one of the many Oni enemies they will encounter when they reach far enough down the arch. A demon island will appear near the Exiled city and will attempt to wipe it out with various flying demons and Yokai. It is all part of a doomsday prophecy for all the celestial islands that float the skies of various continents. The Exiled city is one of the last celestial islands that the demonic Island has not yet swallowed up!

Oh, I made that Using Fusion360 (the free version for "personal" use). That impression is actually just me pushing it down into some artist eraser .. putty stuff that i just had on hand.

Modeled in CAD and then printed it out in resin on an Elegoo Mars Pro.

the metal's super brittle but it melts really easily for quick prototyping

Races and classes?

I’m guessing, going from left to right, bard, ranger, sorcerer, cleric, rogue, warlock, and wizard?

The bard one has a shield so I'm guessing that's a valor bard

Second one has warts growing on her armor and leafy bracers, so they're a ranger, possibly a fey wanderer or a hexblood due to the mushrooms

The tiefling seems to be a caster with fire spells, so a sorcerer, wizard, light cleric, wildfire druid, warlock of efreeti or fiend, or four elements monk

Fourth seems to be a half-elf judging by how long the second one's ears are compared to theirs. She seems to have a component pouch (that white ball thing, that's what I'm assuming anyways) so they seem to be a caster.
Fifth seems like your typical fighter human.
Sixth is definitely an elf (possibly wood or high elf), their glamorous clothing lead me to believe they are either a swashbuckler or a glamour bard.
Seventh just screams human wizard.

Forlorn Halls of the Mongrelfolk

Cut into the cliffs of the Forbidden City are a number of temples, crypts, ruins, and other structures. Most have been taken over by one faction or another that dwells within the city. This particular structure is cut into the cliff face in the northeastern portion of the city looking over the encroaching swamps and has become a bastion of the mongrelfolk – a place to hide from the bugbears and to keep the bullywugs from coming deeper into the city.

The main chamber of the complex is a three-tiered affair that was once home to a statue of some ancient snake god. With the fall of the yuan-ti empire, and gradual collapse of the city, the statue was taken down and moved elsewhere. Now that main chamber is lit by small fires on all three tiers the main areas are used as communal sleeping and cooking spaces with the upper tier being home to the twisted mongrelfolk sorcerer and apprentices.

The walls of the complex have been defaced – partially covered with crumbling mud stucco over the original masonry in many places, and the frescos and bas reliefs of the yuan-ti that have not been covered in stucco have been defaced by tools and/or pigment along with written-out curses against them, their bloodlines, and egg-groups.

the Execution Nail:
Enchanted thrusting sword shaped like an oversized square iron nail, with the guard being an iron hand, with the “blade” piercing right through the palm. Its origin is so far unknown, though its power grows with each humanoid creature it kills. At the moment a character attunes to it, they hear the hammering of iron, breaking of bone, and a faint, distant, pained scream. It has no edge, but thrusts unnaturally well.

The Nail acts as a rapier, dealing 1D8 magical piercing damage and having the finesse property. Each humanoid creature killed equates to 1 extra damage die rolled on a critical hit, which resets every day, or once unattuned.

Tarsakh Village

Tarsakh sits along a quiet stretch the Flatbrong Beck, well enough south of the Azurewood Hills so as to not be bothered by the various dangers of that region. It is a small farming community watched over by the hillside Tarsakh manor.

This area was “reclaimed” from the Azurewood a few generations ago, and there are a few reminders nearby of that provenance. There are old elven ruins and a set of caves that were once home to elven slave beasts in the woods near the manor, and occasionally electrum coins, buckles, and bits of gear can be found in the Flatbrong working their way down from the hills and old battlefields.

There are several smaller and hardier farming encampments within a day’s walk of Tarsakh – small walled compounds where extended families work their free lands without having to tithe to the manor. Most of these bring grain to Tarsack’s mill and then bring home flour, and leave word at the temple as to what stocks they have a surplus of and what they are needing for the coming year.

The lord of Tarsakh Manor, Molero Furium, tithes well to the temple and maintains a small number of men at arms to help rally the townfolk in times of crisis. Generally, this means guards on the bridge and posted at the manor looking down over the town when there’s been unrest or unwelcome guests – or the full retreat of all townfolk into the manor compound when more dangerous situations arise.

Escheresque – A Dungeon of Impossible Stairs

“If you’ve done 6 impossible things this morning, why not round it off with a fetchquest at Escherways, the Dungeon at the End of the Universe?”

This is what happens when the lich lord fails to follow the Ikea directions for the flat-packed dungeon assembly. There are multiple places in this dungeon where you can climb up three flights of stairs only to finish off in the same room you started in. Or turn the corner and find yourself in a room 10 feet lower than the one you started in.

I can’t stress this enough – I say it about my dungeon maps in general, but seriously – DO NOT SHOW THIS MAP TO THE PLAYERS. Do not draw it for them, do not present it through a VTT with fog of war, etc. Describe it and if the players want a map they draw it themselves. Then they can look bewildered as they discover that two parallel corridors 20 feet apart finish 10 feet apart in the next room over. Or that they can choose to get from room A to room B by either going up stairs, or downstairs (hint: it is less work to use the down stairs when given this choice).

Obviously this is the kind of place where you go looking for the Mc(Escher)Guffin that exists outside of time and space as we know it – that can open doors to other realms, or seal them. And don’t forget the lich who can’t follow Ikea directions, but does still know a bunch of high level spells.

Now imagine that the lich cast Guards and Wards in here…

Hi. I was just wondering about something I'm working on ^^

I'm making character designs for a personal project and I was wondering what do you think about fairies ?
I'm working on one and since I always picture them as nice and gentle creatures, I wanted to go on something else and make her some kind of bellicose being with a lost faith in her country. She would be still small in size like 5 foot tall but really nasty and battle body or something. (it's in a contemporary settings)

Do you think the character would be interesting ? (I just made a sketch to visualize her nothing more.)

If you have ideas around fairies and such, I would really be interested to hear it too ^^

Definitely an interesting concept! Love the fighting spirit, and definitely think it still suits fairies as fae tend to be just as spiteful and dangerous as they are whimsical.
You have an incredible art style, as well, if I may add.
