I personally think keeping a broad view over things is also real important as for artistic development. Always have a few artist of amazing skill level and lookup to them, thereby getting some motivation on day to day basis. But in the end its constant practice and constant self reflection that level people up.

There’s a scene in Kamikaze Girls (a Japanese live action film about the unlikely friendship between girls from two vastly different fashion subcultures out in the sticks) where the character’s grandma talks about people’s souls being like bowls :)) and that even a cracked bowl will still do its job once repaired~~ I wonder if kintsugi or similar would be relevant for your game? What’s the end goal?

I know what you're talking about and I really like the philosophy behind it. But In our case, we're talking about Nazca pottery. And here we play a little broken bowl which is in search of his broken pieces around a temple and has to clean/ fix them to fix himself before.

👀 a fantastic cat boye! my advice would be to give him some visible sclera (I can feel his eyes piercing my soul, it's freaky), and treat his legs more like animal legs if you're going in the digitigrade direction, since treating them like they're plantigrade makes them look a bit... broken.

Does anyone have any advice for how to paint stone minis/fine details? I got a super detailed dice tower recently and have never had to paint with this level of detail before.

You can do a lot with very little, usually a mid tone base coat, a deep tones wash and a high tones drybrush

Each of these was done by spraying the tile with a color that'd be the mid tone, then applying a darker wash (green, black, warm orange, black against), then applying a dry brush

The real key is making sure your drybrush is super dry, like barely any paint

Once you've done the base/wash/drybrush treatment, you can then go in and pick out little details

Meet the marshland hydra! Design is inspired by the carnivorous sundew plant (Drosera anglica). My players are going to explore the Mere of Dead Men in the Sword Coast north. Since we're all Nordic people, I'll have to reflavour the suggested random encounters. Come on, crocodiles and constrictor snakes? In the northern bogs? 😄 I think not.

And here's the token. Those stalks though? Sundew plants have stalks tipped with these sweet-scented droplets. The prey animal is lured to it, but instead of getting a tasty sip they get stuck in the sticky liquid. Eventually the prey is dissolved into tasty nutrient soup and consumed by the plant.

What text was it about?

"The night" or "La nuit" from Guy de Maupassant. French text.

My concept was to talk about three characters that are supposed to be messengers between realms of the night and realm of light. It's kind of playing with the word.

Louis is a noble boy but he likes to go errand into the street and disguise himself to not be seen for what he is.

Nathan is a corrupt cop who simply goes around to pass informations between cops and more shadowy groups. He gets the job done even if he has to to go into weird territory (hence the dress)

And Susie is the more literal because I added sans fantasy into it and she literally goes into the realm of shadow and use it for her own goals.

They're supposed to know each other and have the same objectives just not the same methods and the same place to play.

I thought of it as a turn-based RPG with plateform exploration in batween battle phase. Playing with darkest dungeon inspiration and tactical battle gameplay like final fantasy 7. Also getting inspired by Yoshida akihiko and Soejima art direction and line to get a nice render.

It's just an exercise but I love going into mind errand just to get ideas and tiny bits to make it interesting for me. I just imagine myself as the player/ reader and what I would like to see and experiment with game design.

In my last game I introduced two characters to my campaign. Both are paladins of Red Knight. They traveled through Dun Hills, made treaty with hobgoblin chieftan and killed pair of Perytons for him. Great session!
