The one feature I wish Inkarnate had was the ability to nudge the selected piece with the arrow keys

and thanks stormknight! I've been working on making the mere a more central location... working on a kind of instinct-based "spirit" that keeps animating dead bodies and trying to "learn" from them and their flesh, only to become darker and darker as each zombie is slain again and again in a violent manner... plus hags!

(thankfully there doesn't seem to be too much pre-existing lore so i can stomp all over it as much as i like! not that pre-existing lore would stop me, but it's always nice to twist things slightly than just make something up about it.)

@plain badger if you're still trying to figure out bases, though it's by no means what they're meant for, there are binder/journal things for the "infinite" notebooks where you can add paper to them. I used them as bases for paper tokens and they worked really well. Look up TUL Discbound Expansion discs -- you can buy them in packs of just themselves, and they have them in sizes that work really well for classic TTRPG scales and grids

I made paper tokens for my group at one point using them

I even made custom artwork for everyone (two sets of tokens made because I knew I'd need extras just in case)

If anyone wanted to do something similar, I suggest making the tabs longer so you have more space to glue to keep the paper token there

Also, use cardstock, not printer paper so that it has the stiffness to stand up and be able to cut into it to make the tab

Humans are complicated! Getting an understanding of form in 3D space on a 2D plane is a good place to start. There's a drawing program I recommend to beginners or people just looking to improve fundamentals called DrawABox. It's free and a good place to get an understanding of how to make your drawings look a bit better just by getting an understanding of what makes a drawing look more believable on paper.

I haven't dropped mine, but I did almost accidentally screw the cap of the pen holder on too tightly one time and couldn't get the pen out to draw with it

I suggest getting one of the smaller wacom ones. I don't know if they still make the Bamboo series, but it was somewhat cheap and still really good sturdy quality. Mine lasted ~6 years, main reason I had to replace it is the usb part of it became very finicky as to if it would register or not

Right now I have one of the smol Intuos tablets they offer. I know some people like the massive tablets, but honestly, I like the smaller ones.

I used to use a Huion that had no digital screen. It was a good tablet for me to begin with, and the lack of a screen made me learn to steady my lines a lot. Only $75 when I bought it. Definitely a good starting tablet if you're willing to give up the screen
