Completed my first test run at making my own d20
Things I've learned:
- it's not as hard as you think
- always mix an excess of resin as you lose a fair bit in each stage
- less is more with additivies (the yellow mica I used dominated, I was going for a more pearly white)
- give it plenty of time to cure, both in and out of the mould (I rounded off one corner by pressing on it)
- inking takes practice
Next attempt:
- more resin
- less additives
- more patience

While I haven't made dice, I've been watching a die-making channel for a while, and he makes inking seem really easy. He overfills the number and just wipes away the excess with his thumb

Whats funny of that tho. I have two people I know locally that seen my works, want a mimic esk box. Though I could cheat it and make just that. Mimic shaped boxes, to look like presents. Gift wrap them and give them as gifts. (One is a manger/DM, hosting D&D sessions in the area I live in of two branches) And the other is a relative of mine. (Who may have seen stranger things and adored D&D and wanted all things D&D since then)

Well, nonvariant human is generally suboptimal (unless your stats all happen to be odd) because there's basically no class that values all stats equally. so usually it's better to pick a race that gives you more of a boost to your primary stats. but the game won't break if your modifier's 1 lower than it would be otherwise, so pick what you enjoy ๐
as for RP, I think some people prefer a character they can relate to more (i.e. humans), whereas others prefer to really take advantage of the fantasy element to be something they can't be in real life.
and story-wise, some people like to take inspiration from the existing lore and guidance, which is much less strong for humans than for other races; for humans, it's basically just like "there are all sorts of humans that act in all sorts of ways", whereas it codifies trends more strictly for races like tieflings, lizardfolk, dwarves, etc.
some people see the "weak" lore for humans as a positive because it lets them play out whatever story they want without stepping on existing lore/trends/descriptions of the race. others don't like it, preferring instead to pick a race that has those existing trends/lore, whether they want to play into those tropes (e.g. dwarves and drinking) or specifically push back against them (e.g. an overly friendly elf, a noble/refined kobold, whatever)

If you evacuate the dice, the resin foams up and overflows. You generally lose a lot once the resin curse

Davyd I think it's less mixing in more pouring in bubbles. Because any bump on the mold between the lines for a number may make a bubble. Pressure may be your best bet, although I've never heard about that. Thanks for the tip. I've been looking into getting started in pouring resin myself

Based off the real life Rasputin, he secretly runs a thieves guild in Waterdeep while working his way up to being a Masked Lord.
