Oh absolutely
that's really beautiful. what subclass of warlock are they?
She’s a tome pact warlock, that’s as far as I’ve gone with her
ah, ok
@sonic grail i couldnt resist doodling your character ... i got too excited seeing a kitsune ❤
Wish I knew how to draw or knew someone who could draw
i'm mediocre at drawing and i have quite a bit of free time. if you want something drawn i could try it
i'm still waiting on my drawing laptop though
Well if you want to give it a try
@sonic grail haha of course!!! It’s yours !!!
thanks
my current PC is a high elf druid, Really tall and slim, long dark brown hair, looks very elvish, used to be a pirate, carries a really nice Cutlass, has a green coat, like of a pirate captain, that is a bit old, has a belt that goes over his shoulder, like a knife belt, but he keeps 2 books with leather covers. Also some tall boots, a few bags on his belt. Also has a tattoo of Bahamut (kinda like a ouroboros) on the palm of his hands
On his backstory he lost his memory when his ship sank, His mother owned a bar and his father was a famous captain, he is looking for both of them
Was stranded on a Island for a few years, managed to get back to civilization
got a small cabin in the woods from a friend he had made after returning, when that friend passed away of illness
and lives there from now on as an apothecary and barkeep
If anyone wants to give a try drawing this mess have fun xD
Your hook sounds nice, but without any bait I don't know if you're gonna get a bite
@red mural THATS SO CUTE WTH
If anyone draws and is interested in a program, clip studio has 3D models for anatomy
I prefer just 3d modelling
I got away on drawing class by just making models of what i wanted to draw and drawing over then
Kitsune are fun.
He’s so cuteeeee
Thank you
nice 😄
Looks good.
Thank you both. ❤
It's not easier painting 3d printed minis either, very well done 😃
(I'm working on converting the PHB into an epub. It was more work than I thought. It's now approaching the "arts and craft" level 😂 )
ooooh
I don't know if there's a better way to share lots of images on discord?
I would do an imgur album, but then you lose the spoiler option
That's nice, I love the linework
That's a great drawing and yeah super well defined line work
Thanks!! ^^
I also did this.... my character got roughed up by some vampires ;/ man, they really suck sometimes.... .
ba dum tss
; D
Finished another 2 hour painting of one of my player's DnD characters, Adémar the Eldritch Knight. Reader of trashy romance novels, drinker of wine and conjurer of green fire.
Did I mention he has an outrageous French accent? Well, he does.
Hope y'all like the art! ^_^
Looks awesome 😄
Thanks @waxen star !
I really love the composition and the lighting
i think "epic" is the best way to describe your work @wispy wren
an 8ft tall invisible stabby lady? damn thats terrifying
tactical heels
I mean most typical ceilings are 8-9 ft tall
and doors are 6ft 8 inches
almost 4 feet taller than a door
damn you 're tall lady @unborn mica !!!
Lady?
Forgotten Realms wiki has them listed up to 11.5 feet
I meant that firbolgs in general looked like me xD
If you follow the citations, those are from older TSR supplements that don't reflect the 5e rendition of firbolgs
according to Volo's Guide to Monsters, "Firbolg are between 7 and 8 feet tall and weigh between 240 and 300 pounds."
on 5e they are a bit more grounded
🤷
being 3m is a lot
I mean, you do you, and if your DM is okay with it more power to you
I just hope she's used to stooping more than usual
I am sure this will not have any negative implications at all /s
yeah 5e has them as a reasonable height
considering your disguise self lets you look up to 3 feet shorter
at 10 ft you could only hide as a goliath/bugbear lol
This disparity is only hieghtend by a party of a Gnome, 2 Halflings, a sub 5 foot Drow, and kobold. Hrm. I must flee to the character sheet for edits
Call her snow white
@unborn mica ah my bad. Since the character was female I wrongly assumed you were too. And yeah @tawny escarp my firbolg is 9ft tall and one of his signature moves is crouching down hugging his knees when trying to stealth (which still makes him a freaky giant boulder figure) and ask his rogue « do you think they saw me? »
As long as you have fun. Ain’t nothing wrong.
That is basically me playing airsoft
I look like a tree instead of a bush while wearing camo
Thanks @solemn bay ! ^_^
After busy working at my new job for a week, finally got around to apply for the sealer.
Gotta finish it this weekend.
Did a one hour speed paint of one of my DnD NPC's as a wind down before bed. ^_^
She's a Water Genasi Monk Kensai.
Hope y'all like the art!
This is the place my campaign takes place
Very to the point. I like it!
i wasc born in elf, and then moved to orc
in lore for my campaign, orc had most of the human land but then they lost a war against them.
them as in humans
*against
thx
(High)Moon elf Warlock, Dae, made for a friend
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/523933963878793217/589325976903614475/Dae.jpg
Looks great!
Small sassy lady, smallest and skinniest of the team, yet only actual adult in the party. Rest of us seem to be mentally 5yos
Is it really d&d without immaturity?
No, and that's one of the reason we love it
Teehee
It is always good to have one or two immature players to make the game more fun
or at least who roleplay as immature
Whoa, the fleshy inside of that maw is super well done.
Thanks. It needs touching up though now that I have some proper detail brushes.
They do look great!
Just finished putting a dark wash on the base of the fire beetles. Amazing how a wash and dry brush can take a boring flat color mini and bring out a lot of details.
That's one fearsome purple worm
Barely started on that one. That's just the base coat. Haven't touched anything else other tha the base.
That looks terrifyingly awesome
So I'm at the stage where I need to make the cave walls for my project
Foamboard and mountboard are both to hard to sculpt around the tiles
what do people thing of this?
It's just heavy gsm card
The seems don't look too bad
The left is a tab, the right is a tab and a support. I think the left works better?
First base coat. Now I am not sure if I should paint it silver or white.
Silver would be sweet
Hmm, OK. Will stick to original plan.
I would paint it black and just put a really thinn coat of silver
will give a worn metal look
May have to coat it in silver and dry brush the edges and morphed parts with black instead because am currently super low in black
@unborn mica has someone already drawn it?
?
my PC? i didn't really expect anyone to draw him tbh
wow
But I'd like to keep In touch, start with a few rough sketches
And work from there
Well, I didn't expect that
Ok so to start with
What style?
B&w pencil,
Colored pencil, oil pastel,
In no good with paint
White on black
Or even just sketched
What'll it be
Oh and uh
My specialty is in the study of human anatomy in the 7 1/2, 8, and 8 1/2 canon
Ping or dm me when you decide @unborn mica
You should talk to him via PM 😃
Only varnish left.
Why does does this look so cool to me!
Wait how u make that I need this in my life XD😂
Had the pleasure of painting this piece for DnD Beyond's 'Heroes of the Vale'
Hope y'all like it. ^_^
PIGGY BACK RIIIIIIIDE !!!! i wanna be that character so badly hahaha
95% done now. Need to try and do some dark brown washes on the spikes and teeth, but that's gonna take some time.
Looks good.
@wispy wren Thank you for your art!! I love it SO MUCH!! Orkira and Penelope go for a flight!!!
beautiful
Oh boy that's terrifying
I love it
Yeaaah always better with a dark wash. Love it
@copper ravine looks really good
damn
Big monsters like the purple worm and hydra are pretty easy to get done quickly. THough painting all the bone spikes and plates sucks.
yeah i mean it looks great in the end though
So I just finished painting my first miniature in over 25 years. I am less than pleased with it. Any tips for heads/faces/eyes? Even with my smallest brush, the eyes seem impossible to do. Thanks in advance.
I need to learn how to paint minis
Paint the color you want first, then use a fine detail brush to add two dabs of white on either side of the color to make the iris. Tiny tab of black using your smallest brush for the pupil.
@kerm
The hydra was dead simple. Base coat dark green, dry brush light green on the scales, detail the claws, bone spurs, etc, and then use an ink/wash on the mini. THen do final touch up.
Thanks! Is there something smaller than a 000 or 3/0 size brush? It's the smallest I've found so far and it seems too large for that kind of detail work.
I don't know brush sizes. I skip eyes for now.
Still need to add some details, flashing on the roof, furniture, props etc, but ||Saltmarsh Manor is basically done||
Probably a brush out there with a single strand for eyes.
Damn that is amazing
Taken me maybe two weeks of work
The boat is probably going to take half that, at least I hope
Looks great!
Neat
@neon peak that is amazing
Fun flat image of my goth cowboy elf (shadar-kai blood hunter)
Starting a series of robot sculptures inspired by one of my players who makes clockwork familiars. What do you guys think?
Kinda reminds me of a cross between littlebig planet & invader Zim. Like a gir costume for the main character
Haha thanks yeah Invade Zim + steampunk clockworkish is what I'm going for. Gonna do a brass robot next
Kinda reminds me of Clank from Ratchet & Clank
The Mimic d20 is now completed. Hope the person will like it and not toss it straight to the bin (yes, it had happened before).
50 min into a sketch of a mindflayer doing its thing.
om nom nom
He hunger. The mindflare looks great!
Tank that mimic is awesome! I hope they don't throw it out.
@wispy wren that's terrifyingly great!
Finished! I stopped at the 2 hour mark.
looks like that guy wont be having any more migraines from now on
@solemn bay No need for painkillers when theirs no brain pain .... Or brain for that matter.
precisely. that mindflayer is just being a really thorough neurologist. "SLUUUURRRRPPPP.... NOPE. No tumour. Good job being healthy."
he's cured his patients of every mental illness ever had. best doctor 10/10
One of us... One of us... One of us 10/10
speed painted the next bad guy (girl?) for my players... Ganaar. 20 min in ^^
Strategic golden scales~ 😄
yeaaaah clothes didn't make sense on her. Had to come up with something ...
Dragon centaurs
amazing
What is she actually?
A polymorthing golden dragon?
chimera?
It's a female gold dracosphinx.
I've never been able to get metalic colours right whenever I've done art, so I love that goldness
HAHAHAHAHA omg you guys. She's the reject of a gold dragon family. an oddity that was never meant to be born, and hence has rejected the wisdom and way of life of her metallic dragon siblings, and has turned into a cruel sadistic hermit ... thing.
so more like a... magically malformed dragon ?
im classifying her as legendary abomination
It is a bit weird, the golden dragons would probably experimented the hell out of her
they have a weird fascination with magic and science
but they are usually good
they would probably investigate so such thing didn't happen in the future
Maybe she was used by them for testing, didn't belive the greater good that her family believed she was being experimented on and scaped
there's a lot more to her backstory yes but i wanted to avoid posting a 30 pages essay on here hahaha
Weird ones are probably the exception
i don't care if she's weird
she purty
No mean golden dragons in general
like I'm sure you have weird celestials too, but they'd be in the vast minority
weird celestials are definitely in the majority, though
whaaaaaat is thaaaaaaat ? The one ring to watch them all ?
nice !
it's in Dante's Divine Comedy!
In the part known as Dante's Paradiso
My digital painting of a Lich like entity
Looks good, what program?
Cool.
😮 The values on the face are killer.
@thick timber Certainly not laziness
Been working on an animatic for my players bios. We made folk songs, and recorded voice overs. It's gonna be a whole thing.
So in turn, it feels lazy to not do a background or color
i make sfm art by the way.
You guys have seen the group picture. Here is my character. Having a soft spot of all things Drows, there is no surprise my first option always goes to one of their lot. Folks, let me introduce my OC Nhilva Arab'und
Nice work, Kronos! Way better than my first efforts.
finally etched some clear acrylic 10x10 sheets to toss in my bag...
little dry erase, toss some maps underneath... chuck scatter terrain on top...
Cool! Great idea.
so tired of carrying around a tub of foam tiles lol
I just draw everything on the spot on a piece of paper
yeah ive done that too but wanted something reusable and more versatile
I'm looking forward to building my full D&D set out of an enciclopedia
will make a "secret" compartment book
it will be a dice tray and will have mini/dice storage and map/combat grid storage
I think i will make like 4 sheets of acrylic like you did and place them over the map
the Dice Tray will be inside the compartment, I will be able to remove the dice tray and use the book as a DM screen
I love working with foam board. With ||saltmarsh manor|| done, it's time to move on to the titular ||Sea Ghost|| from Ghosts of Saltmarsh
With full deck plan
Amazing
😍
Got to add all the internal detail, plus some work to the outside to smooth out the hull a bit more
Ha, well it's certainly an efficient skill
Get good at drybrushing and you can accomplish a lot
Dry brushing is life
Agreed!
specifically white drybrushing
I remember my times of dry brushing
Silver dry brushing cockpits of scale planes
Until I took a paint brush to the knee
Inking and drybrushing are awesome.
Khash “The Swift Blade”

Rugged man!
my new gnome ranger ❤ playing her tomorrow for the first time, SO EXCITED
COOOOOOOL!
She looks rad! It’s Cubone’s true evolution, Cugnome. Hope you have fun playing her!
@shadow nimbus How did you make those edges?
Looks like drybrushing
First pieces in 25 years. Practice pieces before I start the minis for our current campaign. Any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated. I currently am not pleased with my skin tones or my finishing washes.
'finishing washes'?
Just a homemade wash (very thin coat) I've been applying near the very end...to help bring out shadows and deepen details.
The general modern consensus is that a wash will make it look dirty and grimy if slopped on, and so unless ure pinwashing (pin point application) it's basically the 2nd step
Base
wash
rebase everywhere but the recesses*
progressive highlight/drybrush up
Might be why ure not happy with it? Kinda dirtied it up? Bit hard to tell from the distance and photo quality
Thanks. From the videos I've watched...it was about 50-50 on washing before or after dry-brushing. I'll try it earlier in the process.
Also, how is your homemade wash behaving? running into recesses or beading up like water?
I do think applying the wash later does adversely affect the skin tones more than other colors.
It's super thin and runs into crevices like you would want...but I often have to remove excess with a drier brush.
Last night I heard adding some soap to it helps it behave even thinner.
Thanks!
It's so friggin hard! I took it up as a relaxing hobby. Not sure what I was thinking there...
it totally is, most of the time 😛
Do you think it's worth buying pre-made washes instead of mixing your own?
A sketch of my tabaxi, Navi.
Cool, what class is she? Rogue?
Yep shes a rogue
being a ranger is tough you guys ... i cant stop drawing her
😄
Painted another DnD character! Noxas the Tabaxi Fighter! T'was very fun to paint! :D
It's in my new style as well. About a 4 hour paint. ^_^
That's pretty neat!
Thankyou!
Some mediocre art I did of a cursed sword I'm probably going to make a plot point for my campaign
neat!
@dim axle yes, at least for the 'big 3' of black(ish), brown and red-brown
the ones that will do 95% of everything ya need
nuln oil, agrax earthshade and reikland fleshshade if looking at gw
Be sure to get the normal ones, not GLOSS
@thick timber I love the blepping drow, is there more?
Catchup on the painting thread - if you want brighter looking, then basecoat in your desired colour,. wash, and then drybrush highlights with your original colour.
alternatively, have a peek at GW's new Contrast paints, which are very interesting for ham-fisted painters like me 😄
I literally did the opposite on my Mimic d20. But it was only because I have very small amount of black colour left.
Waiting on my batch of Contrast paints to arrive (I normally use Army Painter paints and ink washes). and (nor I have a camera set up over the workbench) I might do a 'watch a ham-fisted painter turn out something vaguely decent' video
as I have some Saxon warriors to paint
Thanks TD and Mike!
My players are about to start their own AI franchise
Don't think any of them speak legalese
are those real wax seals?
AI?
Acquisitions Incorporated
@storm osprey I don't have more of her right now but I plan to draw more! :)
@quick viper yep, real wax seals
I really need to get some different seals, I only have one generic one
Still looks quite impressive
Thanks
They're going to be opening an AI franchise as a cover story for being in Waterdeep to do Dragon Heist
The contracts do look good! I love how AI can be incorporated into almost anything.
Yeah, it's great because it adds something of a purpose to downtime activities
And adds a new aspect of rivalry to keep players on their toes.
I drew ABDillustrates’ character, Paddy 🙈
CUTE!!!
verified cutie™
woah :0 is the top one an umber hulk?
Yea.
First time trying speedpainting without an outline. Fun ! Gnome ranger 🥰
I wish I was that good at anything
very nice!
Looks awesome!
Because everybody needs an Extra D4 in their lives!
Potion of Heroism:
"This blue potion bubbles and steams as if boiling."
The bubbling effect was interesting to make, my players wanted to pop them.
nice!
slick
Is that chest a normal chest?
You won't know until you open it
Damnit you dirty pirate. Stop moving while I both heal and traumatize you.
Ooooooo is that your Gnome Ranger? Also! Super I love with your art style!!
@dense lion yes it is. Just finish a game this morning and as per my personal tradition I always doodle 3 highlights of the session ^^
Wish I had the motivation to do that
That’s such a cool idea! I’ve been meaning to go back and do something similar. Right now, we just document fun quotes from Trakins campaign.
How do you do them so fast though O.o ive been trying one and I still havebt finished it xD
Hahaha it’s just a doodle. There’s no shade no light source. I draw a first layer with rough outlines, then color the background and another layer in the middle to contrast the characters. Takes about 20 min per drawing max
I am kinda jealous! My pieces (even sketches/doodles) take hours!
Still though, the line art looks so crisp. It’s really good
Im in the same boat as you, Tiger, hours for line art here as well
...thanks you guys 😳
Backup character for on going campaign, halfling Cleric of Bahamut (Life), Mimosa Marblebrook
I've only had Mimosa Marblebrook for a minute and a half, but if anything happened to her, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself
clever reference
CUTE
^
My Drow Valor Bard poppin out of a Dimension door to strike a foe
Still a Work in Progress
Oh wow I love the pose! 👏 👏
Thank you very much 😄 only played her for one Session 😦
Looks great! Like the clothing.
Oh that is fantastic! I really like the way you showed the Dimension Door too
That’s really neat! I’m with Nau here, really feels like they are in motion
.... i like making character based off of old designs of other things c:
😄
a little WIP of my half-orc hunter. I might leave this one behind for a few days to work on a few commissions 😃
sideburns give a +1 to any persuasion check
I was aiming for intimidation, since he's a half-orc hahaha
Thanks y’all! Ill post the finished piece once I get back to her
Not sure if it counts as art, but, I mean, I technically designed it. 🤷 This is the forest gnome arcane archer that I'm going to be playing soon, Tornrik.
Cool.
If you're any good at shading, you could do some coloring of that in photoshop or gimp.
I've done that. Works fine
Hero Forge?
Yeah, that's what that is.
YO @steady marten Your art is HELLA GOOD! I can’t do action poses at all! But man! I’d totally commission work from you even if it took months to complete! Would definitely be worth it!
Yeah, it's fantastic 😄
I guess I should share some of my art now too...
This is my Protector Aasimar (homebrew) Dragon Domain Cleric who I am currently playing in @signal sky s Eomay Campaign.
Her name is Ithuriel Rimi and she’s 7ft tall! She’s in her mid 30s but appears to be in her late 20s and surprisingly has had two kids (that no one needs to know exists 😉).
I’ve been working on her for months. She’s gone through armor changes and everything. So this is her now, with her radiant soul wings active and her weapon and shield on display.
Thank you! Probably the best work I’ve done in a while... I need to practice more! Have yet to develop any sense of my own style.
My third character for my group's level 10 one shot arena battle.
If anyone needs a fancy title graphic for their GoSM campaigns:
I've been using the font from NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer since forever. But this one look neat too.
I did a lil sketch for a character that I’m playing as in a home brew one shot
Did a 2 hour paint of Fjord from the DnD show Critical Role doin' his ELDRITCH BLAST.
Hope y'all like it! ^_^
e l d r i t c h b l a s t
Fjord is my favorite critical role character, he looks great
Enough to make a warlock cry
HOOOOW
If i spent two hours painting i would have.. well a mess
We are Jealous
Very, my painting skills only come out as kinda okay on a miniature
This channel is powerful
anyone here do comissions?
I do @marble osprey
got a price sheet or DM you with the details and get a qoute
it's on #dnd-advertisements but I can DM you
Playing around with editing and I came up with this for my Warlock
You guys are so good. Make my little doodle look shabby (hides them)
@plain badger Noooooo !!! No hiding anyone’s art!!! This channel ain’t no competition ! We all have our styles and technics ! That’s what’s so awesome. The diversity!!! I like your work ! POOOOOST !!! NO HIDIIIINNNNG
Agreeeeeed
THAT DRAGON IS LOVELY!
That’s so cool! Need more dragons ;)
The ||Sea Ghost|| from Sinister Secrets of Saltmarsh is finished
With fully accessible levels
That marks the end of my foamboard endeavours (for now)
wow, very impressive!
noice!
You should make/share some foamboard tutorals
^Agreed
well, check Adam Savage's foamboard tutorial, it is pretty great
I would like to do more stuff with foam, but I don't have the right tools for it
They’re pretty
Thank you 😁
How did you make those?
In photoshop, I've saved the psds too so as we level up or find things that change our skills (like the luckstone i found last session 🙌) i can just edit them real quick
Okay, I was hoping it was a website so I could make one easily
Ah nope, but I'm always looking for new things like that so if i do find anything online I'll be sure to post a link here!
Thanks
@shadow nimbus As far as foamboard tools go, I just used an xacto blade and a ruler, plus some sandpaper after watching the tutorial @unborn mica showed me
Yeah, I dont have good enough foam for that, won't give a clean cut at all
Them character sheets look very cool
Thought I’d share my latest commission with you guys. Done for @signal sky loooooved working on this one
Nice!
The patterning on the scales looks amazing
I was told that she did each one by hand and I believe that fact. It's crazy
HOT
jj da bes
WAY BETTER than my first attempt! 😉
Looks great!
Looks amazing! I wish my maps were as stylized as that
they're pretty barebones functional
give them some sort of grid, and a circle border
make it look like someone in the game drew the map
yeehaw
Did a 2 hour paint of Yasha from the DnD show Critical Role about to lay down some hurt on disposable demon spawn No 31.
Cue Thunderstruck.
Hope y'all like it! ^_^
wow that's great
cheers!
Amazing!
Thankyou. ^_^
Have you considered submitting your critical role fanart to their fanart email?
You may get your picture in one of the videos either during the break or during the amount of time after the game
@quick viper I do! Won a signed dice tray because of it. 😃
@quick viper nice 😄
My "dice tray" is just the lid of the Starter Set box plus a spare mousepad
for my metal dice anyway
for my players, I use a dice tray that came with another gambling-themed game (I don't remember how I got it. present maybe?) called Last Chance
Have an old travel backgammon board that works reasonably well as a dice tray. Have found metal dice need a little more room though.
A family member actually made a dice tray for me, it's pretty cool. Black and red, favorite edgy color combination
Our group DM practically put the Mimic dice chest I made him on the top of his cabinet for everyone to see. Feeling proud every time we go for our sessions.
Recently sorting out my art folder and stumbled across this. Back in the days I didn't know how to use Photoshop at all so this is all pencil.
@wispy wren i think what I love most about your art is your use of light. You somehow renderer it so perfectly and consistently. Growing a big fan here. Got an instagram?
I know it’s not the point. But I LOVE YOUR LETTERING !!!
@plain badger
you were talking about my lettering or tartankiwi's?
Yours haha
Oh okay. Thanks.
I got one that actually have more writings on them. It was a poetry from that game, not my creative writing.
Apology for the mushiness.
This makes me want to draw a dwarf or two. Shame I haven't practiced in ages... Or know quite how to draw a dwarf.
@waxen star That was written by David Gaider.
Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark.
I have the original legend edition but I think you can get it on Steam now?
That series was the gateway to all things Dungeons and Dragons for me.
Especially the Underdark.
And Drows.
It's really good art.
I do comic fanart and Character Concepts if anyone has feedback or is another artist check out my gallery.
is that a forge cleric? what race?
race looks like a thri-kreen to me?
aren't those more centaur-ish?
@wispy wren Welp glad I got my commission in early, after that piece and Mercer calling you awesome I hope you are super busy!
Thri-Kreen Barbarian
nice
I actually have a country in my world comprised of thri-kreen
@tawdry shoal Aha it's forced me to open a print shop! I am though, if you need a piece done I can whip it up quick smart just like before. 😄 If I have heavy deadlines for other projects I'll tell ya. ^_^
@wispy wren Good deal. Let me get past the July 4th holiday and the trip I gotta take and then I'll have more money to throw at you 😄
fair! Hope it's not all coins or that will hurt! haha. @tawdry shoal
Hope your trip goes well. ^_^
Shifter or just Lycanthropy? Either way, looks awesome!
Nice!

For those who are experienced with painting the minis, I have a question.
How do you guys paint the eyes?
I found unless you have a microscope, it is almost impossible to do any detail on the eyes.
But for races like Drow, Dragonborn or Goblin, their eyes are usually in some very specific colours.
I still haven't figured out how to paint the eyes
It is so tricky. A couple of members of my group got their minis but all of them kind of stop at the eyes, not entirely sure how to do it.
Ok so a few things are gunna help get fine detail like that
first things first let's establish what looks good when painting an eye.
Skin to white just looks off, it never looks good. The eye should have a dark rim around it
so we start with it being dark and in shadow in there, a dark base, not black, but like a dark purple or something
Now we come to the white of the eye
the trap is going for the teeniest tiniest brush you can get, a 30/0 or something
it's a trap because acrylic paint dries so fast, you aint getting that paint off the brush until you push it up in there and apply too much pressure and BAM, there's too much white everywhere (go for an off white btw, not a pure white)
What you do is get a nice small brush without it being too small, let's say a 0 or 3/0, around there
and some flow aid
flow aid?
This stuff is the big secret to all fine detail
it's super effective, needs diluting with water like 10:1
but when you have the right amount in that paint, take the brush to the paper first to get rid of excess, it will just flow off the fine tip of your nice brush like... well perfectly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khaA0gNY-EU&app=desktop this video will take you through it, vince's stuff is the best
In this Hobby Cheating Tutorial I take you through my method for painting sharp, thin lines. This technique is great for everything from Tattoos, to texture,...
@plain badger all his videos are great, all intermediate-advanced stuff, really a way to take one's stuff to the next level
Latest painting project, Reaper Bones “Goremaw”
Very pretty!
Neat
ohh that's awesome
Why are tabaxi so hard to draw ;-;
Because getting a cat to sit still in a rogues costume and pose is almost impossible?
Like, why won't they just old on to the damn tiny crossbow and sit still?
Also Furries
This is what happens when you mess with whale’s milk merchants
We were running a modified version of wild sheep’s chase
Whoa okay
A lot of people draw Tabaxi as Khajiit, if that helps.
It shouldn't be far off conceptually
Okay then
Too bad. Cause Khajiit has wares if you have coins...
this one has wares if you have coin
Which one?
haha i searched it up too
She’s better than me at drawing
😄
nice work!
That's a nice sounding drawer. Solid. Dependable. <3

That's mindblowing!
I hope they react the same way haha

A fantastic looking Tiefling
that is gorgeous O.O
@shut orbit I love it!
Thank you!
If he wears a top hat, he could just about pass for a human.
Don't worry, he's proud of his body image
@neon peak OMG!?!?
Ya I think that's what it is lol
“O’ unquenchable flame of justice, strike down the evil before me. Flame Strike!”
@south sail I couldn't find anything saying where the second head was
Indeed
I like it
I tend to suck at Photoshop
Spoiler: Magic wand and healing brush did all the hard work
reminds me though, I got a program I should have been using for ages
It's all about knowing how the tools can be used to make up for actual skill 😛
some kind of dungeon maker paint thing
Anyone knows a good Tiamat mini that is easy to 3D print? I want her to be Big and I would need to disassemble her
https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-tiamat-61019
not sure if this is what youre looking for, but this is what i got when i looked up Tiamat as a 3d print model
Lvl 20 Tabaxi for a oneshot this Friday. Not s full char sheet, just basic info
Jealous of artist skills
You don't have to fill anything out there
that's just flavor you can think of later
In some Adventurers League games there are factions you can join or ally with
Or if you have a background like "folk hero" or "noble" you could put "commoners" or "nobles" under allies just to remind yourself that those people like you.
Etc.
@vestal nexus thank u I put much sweat and tears ;o
Your welcome, I have no artistic skills and have extreme respect for those who do.
Hi @marble osprey! I understand you were helping out another user, so thank you for that, but you can upload the screenshot to an image-hosting service to share in the chat. This channel is for arts and crafts only, please. Thank you very much!
okay
Thank you! 😄
you use point buy or rolled for those stats
DnD beyond is pretty good at pointing out if you missed something
you find it at the Attributes tab
I think you might've missed your starting equipment?
I see starting equipment
Hi guys, please take this conversation to #dnd-discussion This is the Arts & Crafts channel.
Cuz i do have weapons
Fair! My bad
Thanks ❤
fair
Human Barbarian? With Dragon claws and feet?
Idk maybe a human rock elemental hybrid. Something like that.
I want to play a Human Barbarian with magical dragon scale armor where it is on her
Well if you wanna use it feel free
a dragonblood line sorc as a monk?
Multiclass
had a friend who wanted to play a deathclaw, Honestly this looks like a race/class that has some deathclaw like traits
Meant to be scales or rocks
I see scales
My 3rd official Dungeons And Dragons character for my ongoing game on Discord. Her name is Vanareil Sliver. She is a chaotic good rogue elf who comes from a tragic background.
That's awesome!!! Have fun with the elf!! Cool art for her too!
Girlfriend’s drawing of our characters
The one on the left reminds me of a park ranger 😄
My Kobold carictur named Zed The Kind.
Very nice
Thank you.
Nice kobold
What a kind lad
working on a gunslinger concept, just of a rough sketch of her
Love that hair!
Nice!
@dense lion ‘s commission !! And yes, that is a giant owl in the background 😆
Love the shading!
Love that, @solemn bay !
Ithuriel always looks fantastic! And bringing Aeir the owl forward makes everything even better. You did so amazing!!! (I know these things because I'm Tiger's GM)
Arf posted the wrong one. I reworked her hair color in between ...
Still looks awesome!
Looks absolutely stunning, Jengajade! Well done
Got my group character picture printed on a t-shirt. Excuse for the keep cup photo bombing.
Which is you?
The Drow Cleric.
This one.
white hair crew!
Actually some crews should have blond hair but it didn't show well here.
😄
Looking to buy mini’s but reaper don’t have what I need. Where else can I look? That has great quality
@honest parrot Dark Sword Miniatures is good, Warmachine has some really awesome miniatures. Kingdom Death has some high quality if not a bit risque models, and Warhammer Fantasy has some reallt awesome models too.
What wxactly are you looking for? I may be able to help you look.
I’m running storm kings. I have a few giants but want a few more. Also a roc and beholder. Cuz I’m doing my own encounters.
Nolzur's has a pretty nice looking beholder.
Here's a roc mini i found. Personally, im not too crazy about it.
Thanks
https://darkelfdice.com/collections/giant-miniatures
Some of these are reaper, and some arent.
Anything further, I would say PM me to keep this channel from getting clogged with links.
Rail system operational
Oooo thats cool Kas!
Thanks I'm using the 8020 industrial aluminum. Took me a hot minute on how to get the cupholder to attach
I missed more gunslinger art. I give it 11/10.
@tawny escarp that's such a clever solution, I love it
man i've always wanted a shlef
I've come to grant wishes
lol
@tawny escarp That is looking awesome!
One could only guess what kind of sword is being kept with oh so many runes and seals on it
AT'S A SHINY CHOPA.
😮
Remind me tomorrow and I will model it
mister sword man
make me a sword
make it the choppiest you ever did swing
all swords, all the time
i hope you got the reference
but of course
what song was my phrase a reference to?
Nice
Working on making Taverns and Terrain for fellow gamers!
I finally finished the drawing for the subclass my friend made
The Witch
That Tavern looks beautiful SevSaint!
Hobgoblin sorcerer Commission
Love that style
Model I made of a sword in one of my games, she is called Trickster's Bane
If anyone wants a model like this just message me, I can do it for free (depends on my free time)
Oof I might have to switch up my characters soon— I accidentally made a new one 🙈
Looks nice. I like the half skirt (whatever you call that, patch, maybe? Part of a poncho?)
I just love big scary constructs
I belive it is a Half tabard, but I'm not sure
that is what the half skirty thing could be
some more recent commission art
bug
Better quality image of the sword model
@errant nimbus if general grievous entered the world of doom -^
Also, @unborn mica, you may want to either lengthen the business end of the blade or shrink down the handle to help the proportions look just that tiny bit more tangible. Other than that, lookin’ great!
yeah that sounds like a cadaver collector
Oh, I love the combination of ink line art and pencil
That's great! Do you do commissions?
very cool style 😃
Thanks!! 💖
I’m not currently taking commissions, but as soon as I get a new computer, I’ll be good to start again 😅
It is so clean!
It is very clean! Love the outfit and how she's stylized
I haven't seen this linked in here but it's so good I can't not share it.
https://twitter.com/lukemckay/status/1145534600300523520
Lizard!
A lizardperson who doesn't understand idioms or metaphors!
A sea elf who likes to pick up everything in sight!
... basically from left to right it's Rocket, Gamora, Star-Lord, baby Groot, and Drax.
😅
the guardians of salt marsh
Yes it's all perfect. They look great!
well, guardians of the galaxy have a really well structured D&D party
Rocket = Artificer, little crazy personality
Gamora = Monk/Ranger? really serious and is bad at representing feelings
Starlord = Fighter, Charismatic and sarcastic party leader
Groot = I don't know for sure, could also be barb
Drax = Barbarian, doesn't understand what most people consider normal
They follow group archetypes similar to D&D parties
that is waht I want to say
You're not far off, actually...
Again, L-to-R: Artificer, Knowledge Cleric (with Wizard Initiate feat), Rogue (going Swashbuckler, then possibly Hexblade), Bard (college of swords?), and Druid.
I got the artificer right xD
@graceful quail's art is always amazing. Glad D&D Beyond ordered another season of his art!
I was looking for his handle in the server's members and couldn't find it! Curse my inability to search properly...
i make sfm posters by the way.
i wanted to give him some justice in SFM since he's one of my favorite characters in gaming and since Dishonored is my favorite game.
takes the bland "stoic, silent protagonist" trope and gives him real depth.
I'm thinking of getting the outsider's mark tattoed to be fair
Not on my hand like corvo, but still I would love it
@unborn mica Starlord is a total bard.
Multiclass
Fair enough.
Yondu is for sure a Bard + Fighter too
100% arcane archer
controls arcane arrow by music
With Curved Shot++++
This is Trickster's Bane (AKA, Longsword of Missing)
After every time you miss it decreases your To Hit bonus, but also adds one extra damage dice after every miss, it ignores all of your to hit bonus, it has a fixed 0 that decreases every time you miss, after 5 misses it will do 6d10 slashing damage, but you have a -5 to hit. If you mix for the sixth time the sword deems you not worth of it and creates a tear in dimension and goes to another owner, causing 10d10 damage to everyone in a 15ft radius that fails a dex save with a fixed DC of 12
And this is Cataclysm, a Sword of imense power, said to be forged way before the human age, it is told that it bears powers of leveling entire cities! Design and lore by Kronos, Model and render by me
And more lore to come about such a weapon
Did a ref sheet for my DnD character Catherinsa Utily (Also, facial expressions)
Zoo keeper! 😄

she is an archeologist
but yes she did look like a zoo keeper
will draw a more scholarly outfit for my wizard
hehe, it's still nice
ya i have just started learning drawing
and drawing is fun when you have developed confidence
thanks Nick
Add a hat
every archeologist needs a hat
or be Alan Grant, even tho he is a Paleotologist
i cannot think of an Archeo or Paleontologist that isn't Alan Grant
Indiana Jones is an Archaeologist
Indiana Jones and Alan grant are the same person in different realities
One fights a highly intelligent and organized society of beings, the other one fights nazis
just finished this commission! I'm so happy with the result and even happier because the client seemed very satisfied too! ❤
Pretty
Love it!!!
thats pretty :)
I would love to have one for my party :)
hey! @proven estuary I'll DM you about it, if that's okay
Loving my new Tiefling Paladin. Commissioned from Wintercoco
what armor? all i see are shin guards
she must be the type of paladin that only fights small creatures like giant rats, goblins, and kobolds
That or she's just relaxing at home.
To be fair, as a fellow Tiefling Devotion Paladin, they are super fun to play.
could be, although you never know with those pesky kobolds. they could pop out of the ground any minute now, ready to strike at the knees
I'm thinking of starting a podcast where I read short stories submitted by viewers, would any of you be entertained by that?
Firbolg Gloomstalker with different outfit
That is a far cry from our usual Pumats & Caduceus’s
Is that style considered usual now?
It resembles the Volo's Guide style which I thought was still considered the norm
I still prefer pencil over anything tbh.
@ancient wyvern tbf the only DND stream I watch is The Chain by MCDM
Portrait of the above
My current party! (I'm the Dwarven Palladin)
each of them look so lovely!
I'm loving the "Zardoz" outfitted human
Basically exactly how my barbarian dresses when he performs in the gladiatorial ring
@fluid coral do you know if the humans outfit was a reference?
It's a Sean Connery character, but not sure from what, I was just shown the photo reference
Amazing designs.
@fluid coral Zardoz
Cursed image,
I'm glad I recognized it haha
i'm mostly done with this dm screen, i just need to add the hardware tomorrow and finish sewing the pockets but the carving is done and all of the finishing is done too https://www.instagram.com/p/BzgcSKqnV8-/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
memes are always good
Found myself start planning to make a Jester Plushie. Yes, THAT Jester.
i just got some overhead slides and printed my AOE template
because in my current game i use dragon's breath a lot
Is anyone else doing the RPG Writer Workshop?
I am!
wait, what workshop is that?
Workshop?
I drew my own reaction to a player death in my game.
Tabaxi Wizard of the school of transmutation.
Made a thing. Who like reading books ?
Woah! Looks sick. Also, nice gummy bears, crazy coincidence, I have some as well
Haribos are the best XD
Holy shit yessssssssss
Luv it!
A aasimar oathbreaker Paladin of Helm
Nice look.
Can't figure out how to compress this well, but here's my new map so far.
Definitely not to scale. Otherwise the towns would be like 30 miles large.
Noice!
@wicked yoke do you have any tips for amateur map makers?
Wonderdraft is a great map maker program, and there's a few good videos about map making from aswd20.
Such as realistic topography, how rivers run, the lush and dry sides of mountain ranges, and other things.
Cool, thanks!
Biggest thing to think of by and large is to imagine your rivers as starting in higher places, as they flow downhill.
Water always flows downhill unless the landscape is enchanted somehow. It'd be a pretty cool way to show the observant adventurer that something in the area is a bit odd
Mhm. And lakes don't empty out of more than one low point either.
Unless for instance, you have a dam where you release water from two points at the same level. In my map, the mountains ringing the water, that is a massive dam.
Another thing that would be interesting to include, at least in your own notes as a DM, are odd landscape features
Like that river in England that looks like a gentle stream from the surface, but a foot below that is a deadly undertow into subaquatic caverns in excess of 200 meters deep that literally no one has ever actually explored because no one survives long enough to do so
Well, that's kind of hard to show on a map 😛
its just an idea to add in your dm notes
That's why I said your own notes 😉 so if someone is dumb enough to go for a swim in that hex they've got no one to blame but themself
I like looking at real-world natural formations for indoor in things like that
Found this old binder journal and decided to turn it into my player's handbook. There is Nhilva's house glynth and her name written in Drow on the cover. Alas, the silver permanent marker ran dry half way through, making it look funny.
It is just travel wear from being in your pocket
Can I just say how amused I am that you just have a fidget spinner with your handbook. Props, dude
