@static crest it’s a classic case of lucinatism. The condition where a woman can easily be given the pronoun “he” and be recognizable as somewhat feminine man. (Named after the character, Lucina, fire emblem) this has also been labeled as samus-aranitus
Samus outside of armour is pretty clear.
Referring to her original appearance, where all the manual had to say was “he” and everyone was dead-set on Samus bein’ a dude. Until the ending where her identity was revealed
@static crest that was my thought. mostly it was the breastplate/shape that gave it away to me
hello?
hi
The drawing up there does look more feminine to me though. Kinda like the typical badass warrior woman who is a little masculine in the face
A little bit of fun from our last session... when the big scary boss can’t land a hit...
she looks so cool
😄
Here's an NPC that I came up with for the campaign I'm doing!
"The Boulder feels conflicted about fighting a young, blind girl."
"Sounds to me like you're scared, Boulder!"
"The Boulder is over his conflicted feelings, and now he's ready to bury you in a rock-a-lanche!"
YOO I FORGOT ABOUT THE BOULDER
It's decided: His personality will be based off The Boulder
Brilliant!
Oh my god
Yes please!!! The Boulder in DND!
Aaaaah the nostalgia has taken over
do you guys know a good place to buy cheap minis?
Individuals?
If you don't mind unpainted, Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures are fantastic quality and not too hard on the wallet if you know what you're looking for
Beholderthebargains, reaperminis and trollandtoad are online purveyors of individual miniatures as well
If you have a local game shop, they might buy and sell individual minis as well
One wing left on the Young Green Dragon 😃 What would you say about the scale?
Young Green Dragon is Large. An Ogre is Large as well, with a height of 9-10 ft
He seems just a tad small
Yeah some LGS will break up the stupid blind boxes
Nice!
It only took me 20 years but its done
awsome
ooo 😄
Thanks 😄
Is that their names? Or is it the title of the campaign?
A friend’s rendition of my character from a Sci-Fi DND game we started called A&A (asteroids and aliens)
@ancient wyvern The tall one goes by "Rose", but the campaign is called "Rose Gold"
because the thieves' guild is called "The Bleeding Rose"
Ah, that makes sense
Yeah, the Aasimar was a late add and they coincidentally named their character REALLY CONVENIENTLY
Its got a lot of potential! The face has good structure and the proportions are good! @topaz pond
I might add a gradient to the background to make it somewhat less abrasive and go more intense with the shading
here is a quick doodle I did for my campaign
I’m giving a wolf puppy to my players next one shot ...
:OOOOOOOOOO
awsome
gonna heck the enemy to death
Hahaha yeah I’m quite proud of the puppy eye thing. I do hope they’ll use it in future adventures. That will make some interesting rp for big bad guys to fall under the charm
Love it. Might steal it for my daughter 😁
Is that a program? Or did you draw it? Either way, impressive.
thats dungeon painter studio
That looks like inkarnate.
Dungeon Painter is more for combat/exploration maps, isn't it?
@celest reef by all means please do. I’m painting the young wolf and adult wolf versions too as it will evolve with the player’s level. Shall I tag you on them ?
Gotta catch... a couple of them!
@solemn bay yes please 😁
Inkarnate is what I use. And thats the second continent in my new world.
Cool thing is cause Im doing it in HD I can mash all the maps together and still be able to zoom in fully to see all the detail.
Im honestly a bigger fan of Inkarnate than the other programs. Its much easier to use and work through and being able to HD your maps works well.,
hmm i see
nice map
Thanks. Still got 9 more to do to finish the world.
Name: Kristhana (kris)
Age: 120
Height: 6ft
Weight: 90 pounds
Race: Elf
Class/Occupation: bard and ranger
Backstory: She is a wild child starting fights and acting crazy, the elders didn't know how to deal with her so they gave her a lute to play with and she loved it. Even though she played music, she still joined a military and become an archer there. However, a dragon came when there was peace and killed her people she fought and won. But there was no one left to take care of the land, so she left and joined in with the humans and became a bard singing songs of victory and nostalgia.
Personality: fiesty, sassy, charismatic but nice
Appearance: dark brown hair tied as a ponytail, fair skin and green eyes
thoughts on the backstory
Part 1 of the new continent, already been working on it for 3 hours. What could possibly have caused the Shattered Lands?
@celest reef there you go. I hope your daughter likes it 😚
If I had to guess, I'd say raised water levels from melting glaciers/ice caps (from the north) due to a global warming effect
Like, originally it was one landmass relatively close to sea level - but massive warming (maybe even a magical cataclysm) caused a huge amount of heat that melted the ice and raised the water level @glad nest
@solemn bay god, how do you just turn these around so quick? You are amazing 😩
And I’m not tying to kiss your ass, but seriously
OR the icy area to the north was originally an Ice Titan that was slain and fell into the ocean, displacing a huge amount of water and raising the water level that way
Rofl
It’s like you art like I breathe
@violet furnace hours of training. Years of practice. There’s no secret. It’s just hard work hahaha
But thank you very much
@steel yoke It was magical in nature but not from massive heating. More nefarious idea.
I’m glad you’re not shy about sharing.
I'm sure you have a cool reason! I just like to compare magical nonsense with real-world reasons for how island chains form
@violet furnace I was told it is caring ... 😋
Haha
Well the land masses there are still hundreds of miles long so much larger than an island, but I do like to keep some sense of realism in how it all happens. But having wild magical reasons too is fun.
But just in general, I’ve always loved watching professionals work
They make it look so easy, but there’s a lot of fascination for me in seeing things get done or take shape
Like I could watch glass blowers or mechanics work all day
Unfinished, still need to color and add labels, but what do you guys think of this segment of my campaign map?
Looks good
!
@topaz pond That looks almost like it came from some eastern orthodox church
Very similar style
I just wish you could resize and move things after placing them. I'm afraid the map is too big.
It's going to be pretty much impossible to show any detail.
Actually, I just figured out how to create a map based off the current one.
So all is not lost 😛
I end up having to do country maps or small region maps. But could add some extra flare if you wanted that.
I'm gonna do country maps, but I feel better about making them since I can just create a new map based on the big one that zooms.
Thats handy. I end up having to do mine all by freehand and eyeballing it with inkarnate, cause you cant do the based off thing.
Yeah, Inkarnate was neat, but I switched to Wonderdraft. It's a bit more user friendly to people who aren't artists.
Ahhh I see. Im not minding Inkarnate speciall Pro and being able to do HD maps.
Yeah, I tried it too. But Wonderdraft has this really nice tool to raise/lower the landmass gradually and randomly to make more realistic landmasses, so you don't have to painstakingly imperfect the perfect circles you draw earlier.
It also comes with a neat river and lake tool.
Hahahaha but thats part of the fun, painstaking everything you want to do. HAHAHA That sounds cool actually, nice little easy thing. Hay to each their own.
Oh, there's plenty of stuff to take a lot of detail on.
I just find it's more user friendly is all.
Also no subscription fee.
My first commissioned character. Drawn by https://www.instagram.com/imotoh.art/
Neat mask.
Agreed! I like it
A gelatinous cube I just finished painting. It only nearly TPK'd my then level 2 party whoops.
Full set of bleeding rose armor. Time to make 3 variants 😱
@solemn bay that’s awesome. Thanks!
Anyone know a good place to get condition marker/rings for miniatures??
You might be able to get a response from Matt Mercer on Twitter if you ask him, maybe. I like the ones he uses. Don’t know where he gets them.
Doesn't he just use the rings from drink packaging?
He more than likely paints them himself, but you can do a google search of token condition marker rings and find similar stuff
I wonder how much it would cost to print these
Ahhhh I base coated a xanathar beholder today
In learning how to airbrush minis <3
Theres still washing and dry brushing to do but in happy with it so far.
looks great!
Thanks!
That... is actually terrifying. 😄
I know, the table is a mess!
im still relatively new to dnd but i would love to one day do stuff like this!
There are a couple of great learn to paint kits out there
like at art shops or like actual dnd shops?
Actual.local game stores.
I picked up the reaper learn to paint kit and it came with a brush, some instructions, 3 miniatures, and paint in a case
awesome, i want to get into dice making aswell if anyone has tips
oh wow thats cool
And both of the Nolzurs marvelous pigments kits come with a mini to paint.
That I'm not sure on, I know you need good quality casting materials or else your dice resin will be tacky
yeah thats a worry for me buying the minis and the paint*
but as a package it makes better
Yeah reaper has 3 kits, basics, layers, and blending. They're all 30 bucks and all come with paints, minis, brushes, and instructions
woah.
Dont get analysis paralysis watching so many how to videos that you forget to actually do! I love painting and I constantly get better. The blue and yellow on that beholder was me learning how to use an airbrush.
Experiment and play with it. I'll drop another model or two I've worked on recently.
that's a great tip! ty!
woahhhh
It can be really easy to spend a shit ton of money on the hobby but if you want to learn to paint I can not recommend the learning kits any more. The teach a lot of fundamental basics
I assume you mean that in the sense that you "can't recommend them enough" 😛
otherwise it sounds like you used to recommend them but can't do so anymore
lol
Yeah
Well contextually I mean I can not recommend them any more than I already have Haha
haha, yeah, I figured that out
But yes. They're cheap enough and impart fundamentals, plus the paints come in dropper bottles which are tons better than the citadel pots.
You can control how much you're using for precise color mixes.
yeahhh aahahhai was a lil confused but that makes more sense
I'm learning to airbrush so I can paint the final boss of a campaign I'm running.
That's a regular scale mini in front of that tiamat expy
thats huge, lucky party
In one of the campaigns I'm running, we're doing hoard of the dragon queen and rise of tiamat. I'm teaching a bunch of local theater kids how to play.
those are modules right, I've never played a module only homebrew games but im keen to know how they play
I rely pretty heavily on modules right now, but that's mainly because it cuts down on prep. I'm running 2 weekly games, a third 2 weeks on, two weeks off, a fourth once per month, and a fifth whenever my partner, her husband, his girlfriend, and I can all get together which ranges from once a week to once a month
I'm also playing a half orc grave cleric in another game. I customize all of the modules, but it saves me writing time.
wow, that's a lot
thats a smarter way to manage a world, i play a teifling warlock in a homebrew game i play once every 1-2 months due to school stuff and a homebrew zombie, fully customized rules game that i play about 1-3 weeks apart but i loveeee it
https://twitter.com/Pinz_art/status/1124905364095418373 cut out my dragon minis today :) super happy with how they came out
Thanks I didn't know that my style is closed to the paintings of the orthodox church, I got my ideas off of a cubist painting lmao @violet furnace
I like that @frigid sun
I don’t have money for a mini so... I improvised.
@glad nest did you get inkarnate pro?
@solemn bay that's still dope
@thin relic Yeah thats through Pro
nice
Nice!
Before I bought some minis for me and my friends, we just used some printouts
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjgMCJrUID_bmUrga5ATVDxAeZLZ There finally got it to be sharable so the whole world can be seen.
I'm hoping to get some hero forge stuff made this summer
If they can get their prices down even by half, I see their sales really expanding.
We are looking at 3d printing the minis from heroforge, much cheaper than ordering em and faster as well.
Oh yeah?
Yeah its only 10 bucks for the template and you can get a 3d printer for as cheap as 150 bucks (though id go higher). Which works for me cause my wife and I both want one and she is gonna use it for her Breyer stuff.
Ah, I don't plan to get a printer tho
That’s a nice looking map.
Thanks, definitely in love with it
@glad nest @violet furnace you can also look in your city for fab labs. I’m printing mine and my bf’s in a free access printer. I just pay for the materials.
Oh nice. I hear some libraries have 3D printers.
Oooh! Thanks for the recommendation @solemn bay
Ohhh thats cool shit. Ill have to look and see if there is ones in my area close by (sure there are I live in a major city). We are still planning for one in late june anyways just cause why not have our own.
Good luck 😄
I wonder how much an avg mini weighs
@glad nest what do you use to make those maps?
Inkarnate Pro
is it worth the money?
Ohh yeah definitely. I mean even the standard version is pretty well worth it. But for HD maps you can zoom deep in on its worth the money for a year sub. My only grievance with it is that I have to use paint to combine the pictures cause theres no way to do that in Inkarnate. Nor can you copy just a portion of the map. But otherwise its well worth it.
ah
nobody has individualised minis down as low as heroforge, it aint getting much lower I reckon
Does my art have to be dnd related lmao?
What do you have in mind?
I draw just random characters in my books, I've never even played dnd before that's why I'm here to learn.\
Well, welcome to D&D!
@formal helm Welcome! I hope we can help anyway we can!
This specific channel doesn't ask for just D&D stuff, though because of the nature of our Discord that's most of what gets posted. But I think you're welcome to post stuff here.
Well there you go!
If you get worried you can always switch to the #non-dnd-topics for the non-D&D channel
And who knows, maybe one of your drawing will BECOME a character in a game!
I dk!
That guy kind of makes me think of MHA. Seems like it'd fit there.
His name is Kyle and the character I made on the website''s name is Kyle
he's cute!
very nice 😄
thanks
you guys wanna hear her backstory

@topaz pond Instagram FOLLOWED
awsome
I always like when characters are defined by more than their class. This one looks amazing.
a halfling npc for my next one shot... tried a different drawing style this time, a bit more cartoony. in need of opinions
I am not a professional archer, but I think the way she is holding the arrow, she will hurt herself.
Goes to look up references
oh?
she puts on a brave face but doesn't know jack about archery and is super scared of the adventurers she's gonna meet.
the cut on her face is from a branch slapping her face when she tries to be stealthy before meeting them ...
Thanks Kelban and Thomas! Just love drawing my characters. I wish I got to play them more often hehe
I like how the colors work together. And also with the art style. Can't really give much advise tbh. '^^
Ooeh, hows cartoony working out for you Jenga? Its nice to draw in a different style sometimes isnt it?
yeah it's fun. i always try to mix it up but part of me thinks d&d works better with a more traditional illustrative style... but hey. i'm trying.
Depends on the mood you're trying to set for the piece. Based on the character description, the style works very well to convey that
I'm trying to create a flat silhouette of each die type. I'm wondering if you all can tell the difference between each?
d4, d6, d 8, d10, d12, d20
The d10 looks kinda wonky, but other than that, no issues.
I agree, d10 was the hardest
Maybe try horizontal?
I was gonna say just pointier
Or try only doing the face, since it has a distinct face from all other dice.
Yeah, basically a sharp teardrop.
yeah I thought about that.
so yeah the ten is the hardest I think.
because it's so much like the 8
Better? I'm not convinced.
it's not obvious, but it's different enough, and if whoever is using it would be able to determine quickly the difference in the dice
yeah. I'd want each one to stand on its own without the context of the other types.
For example, I'm not sure that 10 makes sense there.
that makes sense
though 68 damage on a d6 with a quarterstaff from a wizard is pretty clutch 😛
lol
I've been playing Wizards wrong this whole time 😛
oh I forgot to put "+65 Quarterstaff" on there. My bad... No wonder you were confused.
gotcha. I was wondering how he hit with a 5
Must be hitting a wall with a siege quarterstafff
probably
question though
how do you plan to show when abilities or weapon have additional dice
so when that wizard gets to level 5
and it's 2d10
well... My initial thought was that it would just represent the die type and a hover would show the actual formula.
alright
Also, Flame tongue longsword is 1d8+2d6
Whenever I have seen die silhouettes, they’ve always been out lines… Maybe that is one of the issues here, that just a flat silhouette doesn’t show the sheep recognizably
Shape
Also, Flame tongue longsword is 1d8+2d6
That's a good point.
@violet furnace, you might be on to something there. I could outline it. I stayed away from that initially because my fear was it would get to big.
Something to try
@gusty sage , what do you think about this one?
Looks great
@turbid fiber, does this clear things up?
It definitely does. It was gonna keep me up at night
oh thank god. glad we got that squared away.
So to my original point. We all feel good about that 10 sided in this context?
yeah
@solemn bay She's cute in like a saturday morning cartoon way, for sure
@violet furnace hahaha Cartoon Network here I come.
UwU
a deep gnome bard on a llama
@halcyon bluff I see you're a fan of 'What's Opera, Doc?' 😄 ❤
Haha
Ended up genderbending my Sorceress with this doodle xD
Elegant!
But of course uwu ! Still gotta find ways to be extra!
Ooo that's so nice!!
tyty
My first character as a mini
Exciting ! I hope your painting goes well 😄
Btw everyone, Heroforge is having a sale
@violet furnace how can you tell?
I mean, I'm dropped right into the modeller
Oh right, now i see it, when it's added to the cart. Only for digital right?
I dunno, I haven't had a chance to read the email yet, just saw the subject 😃
Nope, it's $5 off, or $2 off the digital
So, painted my first mini ever... apparently my goblin looks like Euron Greyjoy...
there is a striking resemblence
haha, that is great
My god the similarities are uncanny
Well, guess I now have an evil sailor goblin...
reworked one of my characters...
:3
Nice!
nice
😁
EEE JAWAAA
the poches look so good
I can't believe how many racial options Heroforge now has
Plus the scaling and posing features, kinda makes me want to get new model files for my various party members
sale on now right?
Yup
very cool. did you do those by hand or use a program?
those all look to be maps made in the online tool inkarnate
either way cool
Thanks, yeah it was Inkarnate.
Huhuhu very nice
Polishing my technique with a line drawing from Heromachine and some customized magic
A dm screen and some game pieces I made
Hot.
That's pretty cool
wow
need to have one with a dragon on one panel followed by the next one having a lighting breath attack
How’d you do the designs on the screen?
I like the iconographic wooden style more than minis so I like that
👍🏼
@steep hull I used an automatic laser engraver
Cool. Looked burned but I was unsure about how to do that much detail.
The snail my DM drew while the party pleaded with our murder hobo Were-simar to please help kill the Green Dragon trying to absorb a magic rock containing a lvl9 spell
ha
I guess this belongs here
rocketskitrain?
spelljammer?
A commission I just finished. 😃
Nice!
@astral umbra I love that you made for one d20! It's adorable!!!
@tawdry shoal Thanks, it was a practice box but might just make one for my fav metal d20
@astral umbra Ohhh yeah, especially for those larger d20s. I've got a few larger ones that I love to use but don't fit in a normal dice box.
@tawdry shoal Yeah, would have to get one custom made. Maybe with a top the turns to close
We prefer it to be in #dnd-advertisements
Any smart ways to transfer an image onto a glossy, painted surface? I have so little artistic skill I hardly trust myself to cut a stencil
A hairy Goliath Lumberjack Bard
We started a new campaign! https://twitter.com/jimengay/status/1120527216306270211?s=19
Oooh
Oof I love your style
the style is great
It's the kind of style I know I'll never be able to afford so I just admire from afar
thanks!
it kinda reminds me of final fantasy tactics art
Omg I just got fan art of me and my Co-DM from D4 and I had to share... I AM DEAD! HAHAHAHA https://twitter.com/DrewDawesDnD/status/1126870962287403008
Is a small dump of jpgs allowed? 5 photos to be exact.
as long as they are art or craft related
Sweet. Thanks.
This is Jinen Tawnik (hiccup in Kenku). He’s a drunk monk that comes off a bit offensive because it seems he’s a drunk that’s making fun of people. He’s actually just mimicking that person as he talks to them.
This is Cornelius. A divine sorcerer who grew up wealthy but wanted a bit more out of life.
This is Rigel. A captain dishonorably discharged for simply not following orders because of his morality. Cast to a different plane of existence and followed by his loyal crew.
And finally, Ricky, the Bugbearian. A gentle giant and member of the bronze guard.
That.... is Percy
....oh no....
Oh god. I don’t listen or watch CR. I just hear about it all the time from friends. I just searched Percy. You’re absolutely right. That’s freaking Percy. I feel so bad. I didn’t know.
I’m blind. I found the photo. It literally says gunslinger critical role. I’m so sorry, guys.
Teachable moment 😃
Haha, it's all good
I was dared to draw a fabulous goblin after telling my friends I found a voice that could only fit that description...
Success
Now i need to hear this voice.
Half orc fighter 😄
#jealous
My drawings always look like anime concept sketch rejects.
Don’t have anything handy... give me five minutes I’ll do something real fast.
Ok 😄
Five minutes drawn on a rocket book
Like I said, I’m pretty bad lol!! @karmic ermine
Hold on I’ll clean that up a little...
How long have you been drawing for? @celest timber
@karmic ermine Purty.
Thanks
Cleaned it up and added a couple little details.
@karmic ermine I’ve been drawing/sketching on and off since I was like... 12?
They never turn out how I want them to.
I don't know how old you are now so that isn't much of a reference haha
I’ll be 30 on October
Ah
My biggest recommendation is to follow some realistic drawing tutorials, it helps with learning the anatomy. Stylization comes later
I know the techniques, just can’t translate from brain to hand to paper. Then again I don’t practice much lol!
Is why I’m little bit jealous of others skill sometimes.
I get that. I've been practicing pretty consistently for 11 years now. Took some classes, learned from some friends, etc
@rose sundial If it's your passion, keep doing it 😃
@violet furnace just an occasional hobby of mine
Exactly. Just gotta keep at it. You don't just wake up one day and automatically know everything about drawing
Bah. I mostly just do stick figures. Keeps my internal embarrassment to a minimum
Time to find my early stuff and out myself
Then again, I’ll applaud myself a little bit, that little sketch is cumulatively 20-30 minutes so...
Those are pretty good still
So they don't look horrible or anything
Point is, it took me 7 years of consistent practice to go from that to what I do now
What were you watching at that time? 😃
I’ll try try on something later on. Gotta get to work here shortly
A lot of the more popular animes 😂
hehe
But yeah, practice makes perfect etc
But don't feel like you HAVE to, either
If it's a hobby, keep it fun
^^^
Nothing wrong with anime. I’m near thirty and still watch the occasional anime lol
Lots of things that you enjoy, if you start to feel like you HAVE to do them, they stop being enjoyable
I've been catching up on fairy tail which I stopped watching in middle school because I found out my youngest cousin is a GIANT WEEB
Absolutely. Like dog training -.-
Fun when it’s not your job 😅
I'm not saying it isn't, my tastes have just changed over time
My 2 year old seems to be able to sit through Dragon Ball Super, but doesn't have much patience for One Punch Man atm.
But I still have hope!
my 26 year old brother is obsessed with super haha
I am not a fan of the ridiculous power creep
original db for the win
Look, it's just a fun fighting show, that's all I can say 😃
We have an agreement: I don't expect much from it, and it doesn't disappoint me.
haha fair
've never seen the original tho
Watched the original dub of DBZ when I was in college
And that's about it
I watched the original dub with my brother when I was like 5 and then again when I was 12
from db to dbgt
its terrible and I still love it
Didn't even see all of Z until I watched Kai a couple years ago
ANYWAY, one of the points is, for anyone still paying attention... doesn't matter what inspires you to art, as long as you're inspired
As long as you're enjoying it
Thus ends my preaching.
Yeah, only reason I said what I did is that when people say "you are so talented, I will never be like that", I correct them because I put in a lot of work and I don't like new artists getting discoruaged.
because I've been that young artist before, and as much as it sucks to hear it, there is no magic trick to getting good at it, you just practice practice practice
Yeh, for sure
I've been dscouraged like that in the past
Seen stuff I've drawn and given up
I don't have my tablet or a sketchbook right now so I can't draw 😭
klutz_artz on instagram for more arts btw
Did anyone hear anything? Must have been the wind
haha
One of my main problems is I’ll get frustrated that I can’t get something right, I’ll walk away from it for a bit get distracted then forget what I was actually drawing
not sure how to help you with that one
Just mini venting lol
Sherren Orc Gunslinger
I mean do you see those biceps
My Tiefling as a young teenager, performing her fire dance😄
Adorable.
@solemn bay , finally, a tiefling that doesn’t have weird goat legs!
I wonder if sometimes people get them confused with draenei.
I do looove Draenei. But yeah @ancient wyvern i usually draw my tiefling with normal legs
Because that’s how they should beeeeeee! And it just doesn’t look right to me. Goat legs don’t look like they can support a human shaaaape
my vaguely kobold shaped grave cleric idea. I'm not exactly skilled in drawing clothing and the such yet, so...
Good start.
Kobold!
Then got incredibly bored and decided to come up with a much better idea
Tree Creak, the Kenku Seeker Warlock.
I promise that I might draw outfits once I figure out how clothing works
Thank yeh,
What kind of pact does your Kenku have? :>
Archfey? Great Old One? ...etc
The Seer
Chicken PCs are like the patron saints of this channel
I like it
That briefcase has a purpose, when it isn't covering him up when I have no idea how clothing works, as the Seeker is a being who travels the planes in search of knowledge and secrets. Inside that briefcase is crystals or some other manner of material that when placed on a surface, essentially is like a marker for the Seeker, letting it know how far Creak has gone and what he has explored
in essence
Oooh, sounds nice!
that is, if the DM I play this character with would let me do that, heh
Here's my half elven warlock.
Zeruda Lightsorrow, with The Archfey as patron + pact of the blade!
I just need to add her weapon... and cloak
And I hope your DM does! ^^
Though, could someone give me a rough idea of how clothing works? I have an idea but it comes out looking like someone send it through a DM's idea pile and came out so crumpled it looks ridiculous
kind of like... lemme see if I can sketch the vague idea over him on a new layer, give me about ten or so minutes to dig my tablet back out and draw things
Sure! :>
Alrighty
His sleeves are supposed to be rolled up sort of, to free his arms, and then just basic shorts, not much I can add with that briefcase there, heh
then, no shoes since he has leelte bird feet
ooh! I wonder if a bandana would look good on him
sort of like a tilted Y ?
Sorta like that, yeah!
Alrighty
What’s in the case?
Neat. Warlocks are always fun for RP.
I was actually just thinking about how I could add some moral grey into my world and now I have my answer.
From my idea?
Hello! I've read posts of people asking suggestions regarding tokens and paper minis, or cheap minis alternatives.
I've built a free Paper Tokens Generator to easily create and print Monster Tokens, minimal Monster Tents and self-standing Monster Pawns for RPGs and Tabletop games. It's an easy and cheap way to create reusable, lightweight and manageable creatures for your games!
https://paper-tokens.firebaseapp.com/
Enjoy!
Might want to post in #dnd-advertisements instead (though it could be fine here too, idk)
Not from your idea, I just had the inspiration as I came home.
I’ve got two countries in mind that are long rivals. One is focused on craftsmanship and use of magic in engineering, while the other is more classically magical.
Thanks, @waxen star
👍🏾
AAh
@wide sable Pathfinder pawns are actually a excellent deal for 30$
@hot pond They're not available all around the world, not customisable and don't contain tents or tokens. But thanks for the heads up.
@wide sable isn't paizo UK based though?
I think so, yeah... Looking at Amazon.com.au, for Australians the PBB1 would cost $74.57 + $21.67 Delivery
what are pathfinder pawns?
@violet furnace https://paizo.com/store/pathfinder/accessories/miniatures/pawns
thx @wide sable
You expect me to believe that I can see a purple orc
@finite blade Spekkio Orc racist! 😉
Our server just got a dope new logo, thanks to one of our members, based off of the In-N-Out logo.

nice!
@finite blade where? I dont see any art like that
@storm osprey it’s above
Completely finished this morning. (unless my party does something to completely change the map itself). Added sea names and the Ancient Cove. Needing some feedback on how it looks.
How?
maybe they piss off a huge fire elemental god that creates a volcano in the middle of the map?
that look so good
Was doin warm up sketches and ended up drawin @thick timber 's half orc cause shes so pretty ;o;
Fixed it with the danglies : D
Omggg??? That's amazing??? Thank you!!!
She was so pretty I had to!!
So. I came upon a documentary about math, and the subject of nonuclidian gemitry was touched upon.
Imagine walking through this as a dungeon, but the floor never tilts.
Not sure what to do with it beyond being a location for something lovecraftian, feels like a puzzle is waiting to happen, but how to work that out I’m not sure.
Find a puzzle box, solve the puzzle, wind up inside.
Alternately, you took the wrong gem and wake up inside.
A puzzle box idea could be pretty intriguing... maybe have a puzzle box that will control the layout of the dungeon to a extent
I just had the TV on in the back and it happened to come on, and I’ll have to look up that temple for some inspiration now
Don’t worry about it ^_^
Mostly it will come down to descriptives I feel, the mechanics would have to be there to help support that.
Should we move over to #dm-discussion as to not Cloag the chat?
@cedar bobcat It's still subject to the perspective of the viewer
Hmmmm... On DDB I created a homebrew Map of All Places that, after attunement and enough practice with and enough luck, can show not just the local area, but any place and time. Admittedly, the idea may be a bit OP, but consider those finger paper puzzle things that grade-school girls mess with and apply that ability to "show something different" to a magical folding map like item. Just by opening and/or folding the correct way it turns into a portal into the maze & possibly a means to alter the maze as well.... a control mechanism of sorts.
*essentially magical origami
Work in progress animation of my little beezel goat bean munching on some dandelions❤️😍
#goat #bean #cute #animation #adorable #beezel https://t.co/iTVDOuCIIQ
animated my satyr as a tiny goat bean
this will be a sidequest in the future
can't wait aaa
@cedar bobcat I have a megadungeon with an arcane, non-euclidean area. You can also add stuff in like if you go through a doorway from different sides you go to different places and stuff like that. It is a fun dungeon piece that will probably drive the players nuts.
ugh
plagiarized another drawing to make my bard's new token
one day i will draw original art again
So... I either felt like tormenting myself or challenge myslef, one of the two. The scale is going up.
Plate armor centaur will always be a concept that needs more made of it 👌
It’s a shot at making a larger scale dungeon where the shape is a sphere, but the players will always walk on a flat surface and get confused as all hell
The legs are fine, it's the stomach that's missing.
Where does one make these tokens? I see them around but I’ve not had the time to set aside and find out how they come to be made
Token Stamp 2 allows you to upload an image and adds the transparent circle to that image. Google 'token generator dnd' and it should be the first result.
Also, Roll20 marketplace has a bunch of token frames if you have a photo editor
Would anyone like to do me a favor? I am not artistically inclined by any means, but would like custom art of a character I made. If I can find a way to pay it forward I will definitely try to do so
I know a few people who have pretty good commission prices if that’s of interest
Ill send you some names that are worth checking out, one moment
Thank you
Just don't expect free work from starving artists
I think the idea of the 'starving artist' is a bit of an outdated romantic narrative, when really it's "We should pay people for their work"
Nope, if someone offers to do something for me that I am unable to do, but at a price, I'll pay it
It's an old term which serves my purpose 😃
But some of us are legit starving at the end of the month. Ain’t gonna lie hahaha
I should start offering art services. and just draw them terribly. then when people refuse it, I'll just say they don't understand my art
because in reality
I'm terrible at drawing
I'm gonna charge out rageous prices too
push up demand
then when real artists give regular prices. these cheap mofos will think they are getting a steal
and you guys get paid
That’s the most evil nice thing I’ve ever heard
Hahahaha
I love it! Go! Conquer! 😂
@turbid fiber it’s easy to see the dm in you through that joke actually
haha thanks
There’s a pinch of evil, a dash of intelligence, and a cup of pure chaos
@turbid fiber that might be my next character....
Offer to paint the Queen at a low price, draws a stick figure with extra thick lines, and then a bunch of others around in very thin lines....
Totally!!! As an alternative he could also cast a minor illusion to make it look like an amazing painting. Then one hour later after he left... poof. Stick figures.
haha
My thief started the day in her underwater with nothing. Ended with some new magic items and about 4 times richer than the day before.
.... so 4 sets of underwear?
Still got to do the d10, but here are some more dungeon paths, this time with the dice set to make it that more inception level.
Thinking right now to make a puzzle system where each dungeon (the each dice side being a room) leads to the next step up the chain.
So solveing the d4 puzzle will lead to the d6, then d8 and so on.
Also worked out the thing I had before, might use this one in conjunction with anothe strange shape to try out the concept of layered dungeons when I get a chance
You ain’t alone in that one, figuring out how everything connects will be a pain and a half
Hypercube: Tabletop RPG edition
You could make it on different levels too. Like 3D chess
Right now I’m trying to figure out a challenge that can be done on the first level of it, but I’ll elaborate in the dm section
Well, a first level of a folding dungeon is sketched. Need to work on details, but the puzzle feels neat. Introduces the concept in a decent way.
Probably want to set it up as wrong rotated, maybe the shade discarded to the side, and such
Sorry for the terrible handwriting, might need to prepare comprehend languages to get the full picture
tyty
So I don't know if this is the right place for this but I thought it fit in. This is the first map i put together for my D&D campaign and wanted to see what people thought! Whether it could be things I could improve, remove, anything and everything.
That kinda looks like dragonblight
lol I can see that
Id say that the fight thought at seeing it is that I would like to explore it, find out more of what the cracks may be. id say its certainly a thing that pulls the eye
yeah it's not a bad thing. just I've obviously stared at a lot of world of warcraft maps a lot
so yeah
The idea I worked with is heat vents that were somewhat sulfuric. Making the water a bit yellowish and having the area smell a ton.
For my campaign i'm planning on having a style of goblin creatures down here that have adapted to the environment and survived off the other creatures down here.
something that just crept into my mind, and this might be due to my love for the steampunk aestetic, but a idea to concider: would rock gnomes or other with a inventors inclination seek to use these vents in any way?
ooo That is a nice idea! I like it. There's a race of somewhat steampunk creatures down there that would probably try to get the goblins to leave. They aren't a violent type of creature so they'd either try to strike a deal or scare them off.
It looks lovely! I adore your art style! ^^
It looks really good!!
tysm
I do love that firbolg style you've got going there.
First time helping out my dm with the terrain. This is supposed to be grounds for the “worm’s gullet”. A restaurant inside a dead dried up purple worm... he’s gonna add the chairs, tables etc
Custom miniatures for the Artificer Artillerist turrets from Unearthed Arcana! https://www.tinkercad.com/things/hz0IQmtAovS
3D design 'Artificer Turret Minis [print]' created by rocket54321 with Tinkercad.
@thick timber how do you digitize a drawing?
@barren iron They look a little static to me. I know they're called turrets, but the fact they have a movement speed would suggest some form of locomotion
They still look sweet though!
I really like the bottom right one, the lazer crossbow looking one
That's my favorite too
@solemn bay hardcore 😮
@violet furnace loads of fun. but i wanna do a fresh one next time. more gory ...
@placid jackal if that's a navigator's map, you might consider adding detail only along the coasts to reflect information like ports, safe shelters, and reefs that would be useful to a ship's navigator.
What are the rings and lines meant to represent? Ley lines?
@placid jackal Looks good!
Custom printed spell tracker my my paladin minotaur has been sent off to the printers. Each square will be laser cut out to hold cubes for spells and lay on hands ability
rainbow hair 🌈
Ditto
aa god i love her design sm!! sdhjnkds i'd die for her lowkey
An adorable tiefling sorcerer lad
My first character: an (oathbreaker? Is that what they’re called? The sort of fallen paladins?) paladin with a homebrewed set of armor
(yes, that's what they're called)
Ok thanks. I was beginning to forget since I haven’t played a paladin that wasn’t Simon
And in case anyone wonders, yes, my friend wrote “& pumba” beneath his name -~-
lol
I’m not sure when I’ll have it all figured out myself, but the dodecahedron puzzle is comming together
Basic idea right now: the rooms will each be able to rotate 72 degrees via a mechanism in their center. They will not have doors in all directions, but the players must line up the doors in a certain way (hinted at by gems over certain doors)
Once all the rooms are aligned correctly they will be able to access the next floor, I’m not sure if I’m looking forwards to making that one or not
Allright. Still need to work in the mechanism, but after a bit of twisting the dials, having marked out the doors they need to align, I think I’ve got it in a state that will work.
Just one extra door right now, to get a bit of confusion
In case anyone else wants to use it, here is the solved version
Zhong Xia a Kara-Turan Naval Commander
And villian for a mini arc while my party goes to a new location across the Celestial Sea
Neat, what did you make it in?
Autodesk Maya and photo shop
Cool
my beautiful yuanti pure blood sorceress. Bronze draconic bloodline, hence the little metallic touches here and there.
Seriously tho, I'm saving money.
I didn't know yuan-ti had anything draconic going on tho, figured it was all snakey-lizardy
no that's because she's a sorceress.
you get to chose where your powers come from and hers are from the draconic bloodline which fits perfectly with her yuanti body in my head
Behold, the Stormcaller
very cool. totally digging those ruins script tattoos
A commission I just finished up last night of a Triton Warlock.
That’s amazing!
The art in here 😮
He really needs a hug.
it is so cool
wOW what a hunk!
Very cute
Mo Hui, Worshipper of the Eternal Flame

We’ve got La’Raxien the Firbolg fighter!
Divi the Changling Wizard!
Calvert the Human Ranger
And Moahra the half elf warlock (ignore the limbs)
I thought the limbs were an effect of her pact

Are we allowed to post art we have commissioned here or is it only personal art?
You are allowed. Make sure you mention if it’s original, or if not the source.
Awesome.

Wow, that's a great piece!
I think she is just beginning! 😄
heh well yea ofcourse she needs a adventure
My genasi druid has fallen for her npc companion. I thought I’d doodle them at the upcoming ball together for funsies ❤️
A new character I’ve been working on. He’s a Drow that is blind and also just so happens to have a demon inside of him C; (he’d be interesting to play with)
Not the best at proportions (especially for male bodies) but whatever
@solemn bay they’re adooorable! I love dem!
one of my players got their cleric of rhamsa comissioned =3=
art by Kipachie on tumblr/deviantart
So pumped to be in this chat.
@frank pasture congrats on the LB 😊
Hey @oblique cargo thanks! We never win anything. Very exciting.
LB?
Congrats and welcome to the chat @frank pasture!
@agile galleon I absolutely LOVE. Every aarakocra I see makes me excited.
haha well it's a homebrew race variant but close to aarakocra 😃
would it be cool to post our food art here? it's technically on topic...
@agile galleon Ooh, gotcha. Still looks like a great design/character!
@frank pasture Sure is! Food art is art. 😄
@agile rock Yay, not everyone agrees on that, surprisingly.
They've haven't watched Chef's Table on Netflix... 😁
are digital drawings allowed here?
yeah. we haven't watched it either. to be fair. We try very hard not to watch other food shows so that we cannot honestly say we didn't know about something if we're ever accused of being unoriginal.
It's easier than trying to watch all the food content.
Okey, I read the rules for this one, witch archetype do you guys wanna see: Archfey, or Undying?
cause I got a warlock character for each one of those.
Both!
@frank pasture Congrats! I won a Legendary Bundle in a past dev update from a convention 😄
aight
My Undead-Tiefling, Warlock, of the undying
and my Wood-Elf, warlock, of the Archfey
these arn't that recent, cause I made the drawings as soon as I made these characters, so it was a bit ago...
Do you have a tool you use for these maps? @neon peak
Graph paper? 😉
Those squares remind me of minesweeper...
That's a pretty big cavern
I use Photoshop
It's a custom set of layer effects
That's the cavernous home of the adult red dragon Ferovax, at the heart of a volcano
Another such map, the caverns of the worshippers of The Eigonan
Greetings! I painted a Tortle Cleric rollin' into the Tomb of Annihilation a wee while ago. ^_^
Hope y'all like it!
love it!
@lapis lodge that’s an awesome drawing. how much are you paying for a commision like that?
My recruiting session for my hexcrawl is going well:
The players broke the brake on a minecart, triggering an Indiana Jones -esque scene as they careen deep into a goblin infested mine.
Only three players?
@celest reef I believe each of us paid $50 AUD and there are 8 of us.
@lapis lodge Cool, thanks for the info 😃
@wicked yoke There were four. One was off screen in a runaway mine cart still.
They ended the session dragging the unconscious druid out of the mines as they tried to escape before a starving otyugh escaped the collapsed mine shaft the goblins had trapped it in. Fortunately for the party, the otyugh ran off after the sole remaining goblin from the first half of the dungeon instead of the party. It was a 50/50 chance since there were blood trails in both directions.
And even with disadvantage on all rolls and half speed, the otyugh (three levels of exhaustion from starvation) was a major threat. I'm gonna figure out later if the rest of the goblins can manage to slay it before it is sated and finds a quiet spot to rest and recover.
:X
perfect.
Flawless
XD
Painted one of my NPCs of our DnD campaign. ^_^
Drew my murloc character for one of my friends campaigns
Love your style
makes me feel like i cant draw for anything
just finished my bf's homebrew PC dryad race. This one's a monk named Raask ! inspired by the Australian Eucalyptus tree bark ...
@remote remnant watching all this beautiful art posted here i know the feeling. But you've got an interesting character full of detail there, i couldn't have done what you do. Keep at it! 😊
I totally agree everyone has a different style and technic. It all takes such hard work and we can all learn from each other 😃
Aw thanks @violet furnace ! It was a PAIN to paint hahaha but I’m happy with the result
The bark colouring is what stands out
Nice!
I just noticed how hard the wall of the camp is to see in this image.
Made a quick sketch of a new PC I'm playing soon. Been a forever DM so excited to be a player after so many years
If that is a quick sketch then I think you could easily make serious money when you take your time. It's very good
That's very nice of you to say! It's a Slightly smaller than postcard sized charcoal drawing I did in 30-40mins or so
New Drow i created a few days ago. definitely one of my most interesting characters
my c h i l d teifling bard
😄
Some Gerblin doodles.
the art is gorgeous!!
I’ll have to snatch that hook chain idea I think, that looks amazing
Also going to have to say: the head image just screams personality
http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/substitution.php Using the pigpen ##XX cipher.
Was going to go with some actual runes, like staveless but these were easier to make a key for
Which looks better?
This is A-Z in staveless.
Between pigpen cipher and the last image?
Yeah
I'd say the latter, since pigpen is one I've seen before and staveless isn't
the subraces of our homebrew PC dryad race !! so sicked to have ma girls out
My Tiefling rogue at the dnd epic at dnd live
Jenga those look really cool!!!
One of the new big baddies in my campaign
How dapper
Uhh.... Have this funky little... naked... feral teifling...
workin on a doodle of a goblin named BAIT. His siter SNOT soon to come uwu
COOT BOI
@signal sky hey thank you!!!
Of course! All three are really cool looking and I bet the race itself is as good!
love it
It's my first time playing one
tiefling best race (unbiased opinion)
I usually play elves
dwarf is always the answer
Psh, all Firbolg all the time... Great colour on that Tiefling though, TunaBee 😄
@turbid fiber almost every character in play knows dwarven. Always want to be able to bond with them if possible
Even though I never really play them much
Tee hee~
So cute!! 😻
@keen dome nah mate, you always gotta go with the true best race, which is of course, the warforged
that's second best
Lizardfolk is best.
Oh come on, everybody knows Half-Elves are best.
halflings or bust
I like humans. 👀
I think we all know who is best.
Sentient packaging
Firbolg time
Drew dragon themed armor, thought it would be cool for character
Is there a way to make a digital map with very clean lines a bit... unclean? Like it was drawn? Basically as a player handout to use as a physical prop at the table as if it were a real map. The map I'm talking about is this one: https://media-waterdeep.cursecdn.com/attachments/5/381/02-pc.png
Huh... I wonder if people who don't have access to that content on DDB can see that thumbnail?
Yes, direct links to images work regardless of access
Huh, interesting.
(both the thumbnail and the URL to the full image will work whether or not you own the content)
@dry radish the best way to get the effect you want is (1) print it out at like 10% darkness (so the lines are very faint) and then trace over the lines with a brush pen, then scan it back in if you need it digitally, or (2) same thing but in photoshop/GIMP, create a new layer, trace over the lines with a variable width brush, then delete the old layer.
colour the map @dry radish it will look a lot nicer
or you could overlay a faint parchment texture, but you'd probably need to make the map lines darker
Rosie: the first method is way too much work. I like the second method 😃
That was just a quick pass in photoshop
@dry radish Is it something like this you're looking for?
Actually this one is slightly better
does any body has experience with creating there own fillable character sheet as pdf?
what software do you have access to? Word, Photoshop, Adobe DC etc?
yea thats all, but no premium version from DC
So you can make form fillable PDFs in word
Make your sheet in photoshop or whatever, then import it as an image to word
There are tutorials out there for that stage, it's a fairly simple but monotonous process
well i never tried, and in my head i have kinda the feeling that i have to aling the Word text lines to my PH picture
You draw boxes, which can be easily alligned to the fields on your sheet
oh, that doesnt sound like a big deal
Nope
You just have to create each and every field
It can get more involved if you want things like radio buttons for skills
That's possible, just more work
hmmm, i kinda have some problems with all this. mostly everyone is telling me that i need adobe acrobat pro. And it kinda makes sense.
i do have the developer mode in word, where i can do some checkboxes and stuff but as soon as i export it as pdf, you cant interacte with them
maybe u can tell me, wich tools do you use for this? i kinda feel a bit lost xD
I haven't tried it since my pro license for acrobat expired
Sorry
You might have to source a different piece of free software 😦
alright, yea no worries. i just gonna trie more with word. and if i fail i probably gonna get a free trial of acrobat
If you can prep everything in word first
you should be able to get the most out of the trial
That seems like it would be more appropriate to a different channel
They were talking in a different channel
one that doesn't allow images
but you can't share background info with public character sheet links
Hence screenshots
ah
Yeah wasn't sure where to post it
this seemed the most appropriate out of the options
idk
iirc, I think you can share background info if you use the address bar for a link instead of the provided shared link
You can upload a screenshot using an image hosting service, such as Imgur, and share the link to the appropriate channel. This channel is for sharing of arts and crafts. Thank you very much! 😄
my little tiefling's most treasured possession ... the last image left of her parents (yes i KNOW a polaroid is a stretch in the d&d universe but wth i wanted to draw it that way haha)
you can also upload stuff directly to discord :)
@solemn bay Looks great! And extra nice effects on the polaroid for dimension.
@agile rock thanks ! yeah figured i'd give it a try for flavour 😋
Word to the wise: don't draw from a deck of many things, or your thief might have to spend an entire session pick pocketing, bartering, and staging a heist to buy all of their stuff back.
@solemn bay aww
My halfling Bounty Hunter taking shape.☺
So I made this for my players on their first session last Friday, none of them had played before, they were stoked lol.
That is so cool! Excellent work on that prop
Thanks! It's SO easy to make these letters, all you need to do is a couple of steps:
-Write the letter and print it out
-Soak it in Tea for about 5-10 minutes (gets yellower depending on how strong the tea is)
-Blow dry it
-Throw some regular candle wax on it for stains if you want
-Then sealing wax with a seal, voila! You have an old school parchment letter
Wow lol thanks for the tip tired of fresh looking letters
Yeah if you have all the supplies handy (mainly the sealing wax) it's a 20 minutes process lol
no sealing wax but letters looking like that is enough
shady or treasure kind of messages dont need seal anyway
Well if you every decide to do the seal, you can get sealing wax at hobby lobby for 5 bucks
I would imagine any crafts shop will have it
probaly, thanks anyway. You just improved my rp game
No worried friend!
Someone should pin thst guide
Pricing~~~*
(for myself I found someone else's work to overhaul the prices of magic items so things were more sane and that's generally close-to-right, or at least the modifications that I have to make are much smaller)
Got a new image of my character.
Wow, very nice 😎
Thanks! Mine is the one seated on the right.
Oh right, I forgot.
He goes by Elicitie on Deviantart. https://www.deviantart.com/elicitie

it's really cool
Please stick to art. Thanks!
So I'm looking into buying a 3D printer to print out minis, does anyone have any experience with that and is this a good 3D printer to buy?
@strange birch - this dndbeyond discord either needs to allow posting pictures in general chat or needs a dedicated channel that allows for posting pictures
that is the only reason why i've had to use this channel, although i intended to delete it afterwards but seems i forgot.
@harsh basalt it's a jungle with 3d printers. You can get cheaper without loosing quality, and i would generally recommend that you do and then maybe upgrade if it's your thing. I recommend you check out Fat Dragon Games channel Tomb of 3D printed horrors, on YouTube, for some hands on.
One thing, you probably don't need an enclosed printer for printing PLA. That will save you pretty much.
@heady fractal Suggest it in #moderator-support?
Personally I've had decent results on my Wanhao Duplicator i3 mini (of which monoprice has a twin)
