I’d go with a neutral mid tone background something like a muted gray or desaturated beige. It won’t compete with the artwork’s colors but will still give enough contrast to make the image pop in the viewing window.

Hey, wanted to share a silly drawing based off a silly idea I ran by my fighter and he approved of it. For context, we're planning that, for the epilogue, his halfling fighter, Stewart, and the party's new young bronze dragon friend, Somy, would have a romance between them. This idea just popped into my head, I ran it by him, and he approved of it, so I drew it. I'm not very good at drawing dragons, but the idea of a halfling trying to bridal carry a dragon (even a young one) was just too amusing to me to pass up on.

...I also know that this probably wouldn't be how it would work, since she has shapechange, but still, rule of humor got me.

Thank you! I'm not sure if I ever posted it here (I may have but it's been so long since I first got it), but the design I use of him was made by an artist called MetaDoodles (her art is really good, not sure if I can only post the art once or not). Like I said, this was originally intended to be a reference for his tattoo (the dragon head on the vine is supposed to be Bahamut), but I figured him being embarrassed about showing off would be a cute idea. Also gives me an excuse to show off how I flavor his low charisma as being super awkward.

Okay, we'll try it! This guy was one of my friend's major villains, and this was my adaptation of him, basing the design off of his official heroforge that my friend made long ago.

Forgot to mention this when I posted the sketch, but the only real major changes I made to Baron Caedis' original design for this adaptation was changing the monocle lens color to green and the gem on his sword to an emerald (originally the lens was red and the gem was a ruby), a little easter egg to his original story.

I posted the original heroforge reference for him that my friend made in #dnd-heroforge-etc if anyone wants to look at what he originally looked like (not that much has changed visually)

I have never seen a female bugbear that I've ever liked until now. I love this!!

I made a concept for my cowardly barbarian idea, Nora is a goliath who as a child was a runt, and banished from her clan because of it. During her wandering to find somewhere, she came across a secluded forge, and collapsed from exhaustion and blood loss. Where, she met her adoptive father, a dwarf artificer who took care of her. And while she liked to help, she had not skill outside of chopping wood for him, and carrying heavy things. He made her a prosthetic arm, taught her right from wrong, and the basics of how money works. Eventually, she hit a growth spurt, hard. growing huge in only the course of a few days after turning 14. So her adopted father had to make her a new arm. he also found out Nora has a really terrible anger problem. While it's hard to make her mad, and she's usually a total softie, pushover, and afraid of anything, when someone she cares for is in danger, she throws herself at it out of anger. Which he found when she wrestled a bear and won to defend him.

Had to get this idea down quick with my mouse on mspaint. Character idea I had. Image a Ravnica campaign has 2 major robotic (Warforged) scientist characters, but one is a good guy with Izzet, and the other is an evil mad scientist. I though it might be cool if they're actually the same person, but the evil scientist can transform into a smaller, cuter form to trick the good guys, and steal resources.

Like if Heimerdinger and Singed were somehow the same person

A sentient lantern of revealing with a fiery inhabitant who’s more than they seem we are making!
Ambershine, Lantern of the Bound Spark
This seemingly ordinary lantern of revealing looks unremarkable except for the faded runes etched on its amber-tinged glass panes. But inside burns a flame that never dies, lit by a fiendish spark bound by accident during a fumbled warlock ritual.
The fiend trapped within presents itself as “Flick”, a cheeky and seeming meek imp, who sometimes lets slip details that suggest they may be far more powerful than they seem.
Despite their past and mischievous nature, Flick is not inherently evil. Over time, their anger and fiendish malice have given way to reckless curiosity, wit, and even a form of weird affection for mortals who treat them with fairness.
"I’m not saying I could break reality, but I’ve bent it before… Eh, for better lighting, of course."

Since I have a Messy Freehand, he has a lopsided Horn Crown, ride side has more horns with one curling into the eye, left side has some Smaller growths, left eye and its surrounding skin are to be Discolored human skin with a few Veins of black and Hairline fracture patterning, rest of the face is Demonic Skin, leathery and patchy.
If the design sounds Messy. That's the idea.

The Invading Forces DID stop, so he has something of a Savior Complex.
But the truth is that the Invaders KNEW better than to interfere while their Enemy was making a Mistake.

My group's been using tokens for torches / lanterns to have them emit constant light instead of switching the characters' tokens to do so, but they always felt annoying on roll20. Either the torch token was on yours, hiding your image, or below yours, and you'd forget you had one, or had to hold it to the side, where it took bunch of space

I thought this would be okay to show here since these characters from my writing setting began as DnD characters, I recently got a commission I paid for from an artist called MetaDoodles.

I’m not sure if I shared my ref for that setting’s version of Alric, actually. The only main thing I changed from his original dnd self was changing his spell-sword (it was basically a lightsaber) to a magical longsword that he can channel his holy magic into. Even if it may be a stretch to say this concept art is entirely on topic, it is nice to have some sort of visual representation of my first proper character.

Since I’m sharing the stuff from my fantasy setting that was based on my dnd experiences, here’s what was technically my first character when I originally played during high school, Andrew “Dross” François. I also made a design based on a companion he got from one of the cards from the Deck of Many Things, originally called Fiahin, changed to Fia for this setting.

This is probably the biggest stretch, since this name was from a character I never actually played. Still, the random design that one of my friends at the time made for him has morphed into this character.

as part of my lil world building thing im making more characters part of The Mortis Guard an in universe royal guard only made up of mutants and rejects including Chira, shes a human technically (uses Thri-Kreen stats) its just that Holun the kingdom the Mortis Guard come from is located on a magical Ley Line so everything is a lil weird in Holun, 2 humans can have a baby that looks like a bug, that baby will then be given to the mortis guard or will be taken by the mortis guard to make into a good soldier to protect the king

Chira for her part has a few nicknames, like Bedbug or Info-Bug cuz of her creepy hobby of watching guests sleep by climbing on their walls at night and then looking into everything she can dig up on anyone who visits, the more deep and dark the secret the more she wants to find out

The only tell that the Bedbug was in your room is things will be weirdly clean, shes a germaphobe and so shes compelled to clean up the rooms of anyone shes snooping on, sometimes even cleaning the person. go to bed with a bit of dirt on your face you make way up to your face perfectly clean

Okay, here’s another character from my setting that started as a dnd character, albeit this guy was one of my character’s companions. This is from the same game that gave me Dross, I forget what he originally looked like, but I do remember that his name was Terry, and that we basically adopted him from a room of robot cats.

Again, took quite a few liberties with this redesign, mainly because I forgot what he actually looked like, but I think I did okay, considering I never drew this body type before designing him.

I’ll explain some more about him in the off topic channel, if anyone’s interested.

Last thing I'll say here about him, I was waffling on sending it here because of his attire, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try.

Pre finish, it's best to sand then apply a little hit of water, it'll raise any fibers you didn't get the first time, and you'll be able to sand again
