(Sorry in an advance if this is not the right place in this discord to show off little enemies you made) Here’s the first enemy of the campaign i’m writing. it’s called a Nasher. They’re tiny creatures that range from 6 inches all the way two feet. They live in caves, and almost all of their senses are blinded. from the sound of their heartbeat being so loud that it deafens them to the bioluminescence of their body making them blind. their only sense that is severely honed is their sense of smell. they live in caves normally but some are able to escape and adapt to the surface world, eventually evolving into a different species while some stayed in the caves. the cave ones are small, but the surface ones are massive, standing at 8 feet tall and even more feral due to their senses being even more blinded.

So I had the idea of turning my BBEG before their demonic transformation into a barbarian character (path of the zealot)

Only thing is his design feels a bit... bland, given that to make him mortal I had to undo the flaming eyes, multiple horns/antlers, and waist below being pure fire

Any suggestions to make it more unique?

I would probably keep some of the sharp teeth design from your demonic form, at least in the form of tusks or fangs (google musk deer for an example of a real-life fanged deer). And then put some of that fire aesthetic into the design of his armor and/or weapon. Not actual fire, but maybe orange/gold flame patterns.

i recomend looking at bluesky artists who do armor, its best to try and get out of "Fantasy Armor" syndrome cuz a lot of irl armor was very simple compared to what you see in media, start with very simple shapes and ask yourself how would the armor feel to wear, would it be hard or easy. my favorite refrences are Brigandine armor from around the 1400s or plate cuirasses from the later 1500s

first huge tip, chestpieces/breastplates should end just after the ribs and not extend to the belly, you cant bend over properly in a long chestplate, there should be split between the top and the bottom so you can properly bend over, once you know that rule a lot of fantasy armor looks weird cuz the breats plate is too long

Here’s a paladin type I’ve been working on. It looks more cleric, but I want to go for a more cloth, with armor underneath vibe, like a Link-type visual. A paladin that’s softer, far from a conqueror.

I was toying with some armor on the knees to further the cleric vibes, but also he’s more cleric in nature.

I am DM ing currently the german version of the basic campaign from the Essential Kit (Dragon of Icepire Peak) but I threw in a lot of homebrew and 3rd party stuff to flesh it out. "Honest Pete", a half-elf merchant that buys and sells more or less useless magical items and for some unknown reason onions.

"Insane Gary" A wizard that used magic to look beyond the limitations of the universe and was driven mad by it. Now he stands at a streetcorner and rambles how the whole universe is not real and that everybody is just a toy to the beings beyond.

Questions and comments are very welcome.

"Moon reflects in lake", a rather cowardly Tabaxi rouge that tries to pick pocket one of the players, but is caught. If they spare her, they can win her as a rouge. She is mute, since her tonge was cut out by the (now defunct) syndicate in Baldurs Gate that used to own her, she communicates with a small blackbord that she writes onto with chalk.

Greffl, a goblin "restaurateur" that sells terrible sausages that are guaranteed made from some kind of meat. He puts a ton of hot mustard on them to hide the taste. If a player is daring or crazy enough to eat one he must make a saving throw against poison damage. If failed the player will have D4 days diarrhea. If he passes it, and is actually crazy enough to eat at Greffls five more times and passes the save every time, the player will gain poison immunity.

Archileon of Akanax, an ancient chessentan hero that was trapped in an magical artefact for centuries. The players can free him and some other characters from the artefact and he may become an ally. He is a human warrior, strong but kinda dumb. Also he only speaks chessentan when he comes out. The writing on his shield is "Dem fowame tipota" which translates to "I fear nothing" in chessentan (Chessentan is greek in my version of the game).

Zeleen Varnaster is actually a character and minor villian from the "Dragon of Icepire Peak" campaign, I decidet to flesh her out a little. She is the leader of a gang of were-rats that occupy a goldmine. In game her gang starts to question her leadership. I thought the reason for that is that she isn´t really into it anymore, ever since her gang captured a novel about the spicy adventures of a lusty dragonborn maid and an expensive maid uniform. Now she spends hours reading the book religiously and admiring herself in that uniform, dreaming being a beautyfull maid, instead of a bandit planning raids. If the players spare her at the end of the quest, they can win her as a temporary sidekick untill she actually find employmend as a maid.
