It is I. The Bard Space Man. Not to be confused with the bald space man. I do indeed have hair. A snippet from an almost complete song from Dungeons, Dragons, & Taverns called A Traveler From Another Time. I envisioned an NPC that you meet on your adventure. Somethings off about them. Maybe it’s the clothes, maybe it’s the way they speak, or maybe it’s the multitude of what look to be mechanical clocks on t. Either way, you can definitely tell that they’re not supposed to be here whether it be place or time. Maybe they’ve got some stories to tell. I wanted to try and mix that old medieval sound and futuristic synth sound together for one mysterious song.

...the floating book looked so pretty, she couldn't help but touch it. The second her finger grazed it's cover, a gust of wind suddenly blew and the room was gone in an instant. She found herself floating in a void, pulsing with a faint purple glow. Ahead of her was the book, now slowly opening. A fountain pen flew past her face and towards the book, then it hovered as if waiting for the book to flip to the right page.

Metals are tricky. It took me forever to figure out how to get something that looks convincingly metallic.

I tend to do mine to a formula depending on the mettallic

If you choose a base colour then highlight a bigger rounded area towards your light source and use that same colour to do a little edge highlight along the whole surface then reinforce the edge of that highlight on the edge furthest from the light, O find that works okay-ish

For example

It reads especially well as metal on the belt.

I think having the highlight next to the darkest part is what really sells it.

It's how I like to do them a lot of the time.

I've set myself strict time limits on them so that I don't get burned out on the concept before the end of the month. No more than 2h30 on them, with some being around 90minutes when I've been busy that day. It probably averages out at the 2h mark.

They're quite small drawings so I can actually get it done in the time frame - A5 size

Haven't thought about that. Him being a simic hybrid is due to his first pact. His patron basically said "hey, you'll turn into a weird aquatic hybrid thing" and boris said "that makes me not want to sign the pact why?"

Honestly not bad! The pose is pretty solid and the design is simple but effective

Best advice I can give for a newer artist: use one line thickness for drawing the limbs, head, and body (I use either pen size 3 or 5 on a 2000x2000 canvas) and smaller ones for other details, like scales

I don’t think I’ll ever play Dark Sun, but I think it’s cool the most powerful being is also the only dragon in the entire world, and all the gods are dead. Since he apparently started out as a human, I thought it’d be cool to give human a beautiful, almost Greek statue like face, and then a grotesque dragonoid body.

Also thinking super muscular out of proportion upper torso, and a super emaciated and shrivelled lower torso and limbs. Like a greyhound with a pitbull chest and neck. Wings full of holes. Idk.

Maybe a more androgynous face would work for the eerie factor.

I kinda want things to feel off balance so maybe I’ll give it human hands on its arms and legs, and the wings can maybe start at the hips instead of the back

Hey everyone 🙂 Just wanted to share a painting I made over the weekend of my DnD Character. This is Elwis, the dark elf. She is 234 years old, yet her youthful appearance is betrayed by eyes deep with wisdom and experience. Also she will rob you blind if you're not watching your coin purse. The markings on her face are remnants of her time in a Thieves' Guild, a lockpick she always carries in her hair, just in case the occasion arises :p

@polar crow I would be aiming for terrain that is relatively generic and can be reused often. Things like boulders, trees, decrepit ruin walls and ritual circles come up all the time and will be well worth the time you invest into making them

How you make them will be based on what materials and skills you have. I will always prefer 3D modelling and printing over handicrafts but thats just me

Your styrofoam will work for most objects that have a lot of mass whereas using a 3D Pen would be good for thinner objects like trees, I imagine
