In our homebrew world most Kobolds hate dragons; since dragons are seen as superior creatures while Kobolds are left to be seen as breathless, flightless "tunnel rats" by the general population.

So when one Kobold did NOT feel this way and defended the helpless drake, it was a hopeless 1,000 against 2. They've been on the run since, until they met the PCs

am in the mood to share some character designs i've done

i've been DMing a campaign based on magical girl anime. in this world, mortals of any demographic (not just teenage girls) can make a deal with a higher being such as dragons or archfey or celestials, etc. you recieve a gemstone that allows you to transform and synch up with it. your soul is now contained in that stone, and the resulting transforming (i.e. your class) is based upon who you are as a person.

i've illustrated our mahou senshi and while some i play as enemy npcs that oppose the party, for those relevant i worked with my players to help design their characters. the general theming with each senshi is that their transformed states should represent both who they work for, as well as who they are. I try to incorporate their armor, though admittedly most of the time i just hid it under the heroe's clothes and call it a day. Weapons, when pictured, I try to keep both functional and also aesthetic. I want them to look as if you could buy a plastic replica of it at your local anime convention

the main party work for a dragon, so all of their costumes have various dragony-y elements. we have a redemption paladin, a shadow sorcerer, assassin rogue, whispers bard, and a stars druid

the main antagonists are a group of mahou senshi who work for an evil archfey. we got a wild magic sorcerer, a glamour bard and his mantle of majesty form, a mastermind rogue-trickery cleric, spores druid-monk and her symbiotic entity form, and then a storm barbarian

these here are guest characters, and are usually only relevant for one session or one quick arc. we got a vengence paladin who works for the japanese god of thunder raijin, a gunslinger fighter who works for a seraphim, a swashbuckler rogue who works for a vampire lord, a great old ones warlock working for cthulu, and a creation bard that works for queztlcoatl

Bog Bugbin is a traveler of the realm, seeking inner peace. He left his family as a teenager and has been travelling for years amongst people, but no matter what he does he hasn't been able to truly connect with himself, as he has heard tales of great martial artists doing.

After years of traveling to try to find himself to no success, he traverses to Aerothos, the lands of the sky to seek out the great monastaries held there, and to learn their ways. To connect with himself, tap into that inner power to fill the void inside him he has been feeling since his youth.

It does not succeed. The meditations don't work for him, leaving him frustrated, no matter how they try to help. Feeling desperate and in despair, he climbs to the edge of one of the floating islands, closes his eyes, and takes it in, claws at the edge of the yawning abyss.

And in that moment it clicks. That void inside of him was his energy. He could not fill it, for it could never be filled. And in that moment, it rushed through him, terrifying him. The dark power that brings so much despair, flooding through him. Sitting down to meditate, he desperately seeks to tame it before it tears him apart.

I'm running him with the Alternate Monk by Laserllama, with the Way of the Void in the expanded subclasses

I'm not much of an artist, so I did a simple design for my spells writing them in an aged leather journal I’m using as a spellbook for a campaign I start at the end of the month. This first one is the Sleep spell. As far as the art, I did a simple six pointed star in a circle, with casting time, range, duration, components, target, and enchantment school and enchantment insignia. Wrote all that in Latin. Wrote the description in English. All in all I like it, I’ll probably add more detail, like the specific material component options and, a simple hand gesture somatic component description. this was the first one, have five more spells to go.

So teenage me had this idea for making simple brick buildings. Now, I'm considering recreating this with foam so I can give it a Rocky texture, but I'm not sure how to do the corner bricks in a thin enough way that I can still put two of these blocks next to each other to make a bigger building

It's named The low burning torus because it was used (and still used) as a ram, and because it has the ability to throw fire through it's mouth, so while being used as a ram it's face would be facing the ground so it would burn the enemies' lower parts such as legs and feet with it's fire to lure them away or disable them

Not sure if the tinfoil ball trick works but you should try using something not sharp to score it, or getting some carving tools or another material like xps foam or modeling clay because cardstock foam is really not a good material for dungeon tiles. Also maybe thinning your paints a bit and using more coats would help with the texture

Meet Pistachio! 🌿 This little faun has a unique charm with their curly red ringlets, cozy cableknit sweater, and oversized round glasses. Their shaved-down horns are decorated with adorable green plugs, adding to their quirky style. this is basically half backstory for a character half short romantic story.

I made the Gem-Nightmare Dimension. Like an "Amethyst Dragon Rhino Beetle" or "Zarkhator".

The Gem-Nightmare Dimension has four armed, long arms, eight ruby eyes, amethyst horns, diamond claws, diamond fangs, and its body upper back and shoulders on the amethyst or rainbow quartz and mama crystal absorb magic spells. Its skin is a black lizard demon.

Uh, I'm self taught and I know I have a ton of bad artistic habits, but my best advice would be to draw from reference the stuff you like. A LOT.

Like a lot a lot.

Copy what you see, get used to how things are placed, how features are drawn, practice practice practice.

I've been drawing on and off for over 2 decades, but in the past 5 years I've really gotten more serious.

Practice foundational skills, and just try to draw what you like. It takes a long time, but you'll get to where you want to be.

Also. Get feedback from other artists, ask for critiques, honest ones.

Posting to forums like this will give you a nice little dopamine hit when people gush about your stuff, but that's like fast food, it's okay every so often, but you want the real stuff, actual feedback.

He rocks a letterman-style adventurer’s guild jacket that’s a bit too big for him—fitting, since he technically hasn’t earned the right to wear it yet (but we’ll let it slide). The jacket’s green and beige tones add to his rebellious yet playful vibe, balancing his thin frame.

Despite coming from a family of low-level criminals, Kapi masks his trauma with humor and always keeps things light-hearted. I had a lot of fun capturing his mischief and attitude in this piece! 😏💙💜

It's true, when I started posting here I've started getting commission requests with people trying to tell me that my art is only worth$30-50 for a full figure drawing. My time is worth much more than that, and I think my art is too.

I recently saw an artist who was told to lower their prices because they’re not’famous’ enough for those prices they’re asking, meanwhile that dude has an empty account with 3 followers, like I’m not sure who he is to ask people who they think they are but lmao that’s why I hate social media so much

I was shocked when this person said "I'm very particular about the art I purchase and you've got a style I love." And then proceeded to say he could get pieces he liked off Fiverr or Insta for the range I mentioned and then proceeded to say that since I prefer to work in b&w it's worth less.

Huge reason why I'm nervous to start taking commissions.

People think my work is worth less than half the minimum wage per hour.

This isn't really the channel to talk about this at length (it's just for folks to share their art), but I'll at least say this: people really just don't understand how much time any one given artist's work takes. Some people can produce great work very fast and some people take 8 hours for a single piece, and you'd never know looking at the art. Only you can decide what your time is worth, and only you know how much time anything you do takes, so trust your gut. I'm sure you'll figure it out if it's something you're interested in!

I will say though that the shoulders and tunic are pretty unrefined and are a good representation of the initial sketch. I don't really frame out my drawings these days, especially not bust drawings. I pretty much know where everything goes and draw freehand 80% of the time.

A musical aura surrounded him as a lyre rested on his back, and a peek of sheet music emerged from his satchel, suggesting a potential talent for bardic arts. His heterochromatic eyes, one a soft pink and the other a striking turquoise seemed to flicker like tiny warm flames, adding an intriguing depth to his gaze. His facial features were adorned with thick, purplish-turquoise tendrils and facial hair, and majestic horns adorned his head, further emphasizing his draconic heritage. A long tail trailed behind him, completing his striking appearance.

His attire consisted of flowing lavender robes adorned with vibrant designs and intricate stitch patterns, with the sleeves casually rolled up; the robes were short, so they showed his black pants. This Dragonborn was a captivating sight to behold, a harmonious blend of magic, music, and ancient bloodlines.

This man's name is Lorenzo.

Backstory:
Lorenzo Melodiestone hatched in Neverwinter, in a family-owned tavern called “The Dragons Melody.” As the first hatchling among his siblings, Lorenzo belonged to a lineage with ancestors of various elements, primarily lightning and flame. The Melodiestone family originated from a sorcerer and a sorceress who transformed into dragons, one of pyro and one of lightning. Over time, the family's focus shifted from draconic sorcery to music and culinary arts, causing the ancient arts to fade.

Growing up, Lorenzo entertained customers with his lyre and occasionally showcased his culinary skills. While he excelled with various instruments, his mastery of the lyre was unmatched. One fateful day, while performing a challenging and fast-paced song, Lorenzo became lost in the music, feeling the fire in his heart and the electricity in his hands. He experienced visions and lights dancing in his mind, and as he strummed the lyre, a wave of fire and sparks of electricity engulfed the tavern, shocking everyone present.

Following this incident, Lorenzo discovered strange markings and patterns on his body and realized the hidden sorcery in his veins. Alarmed by these changes, his parents sought help from a sorcerer in town, who guided Lorenzo in embracing his newfound powers. From that moment, Lorenzo began his journey to become a powerful draconic sorcerer.

Lorenzo now utilizes his musical talents to cast spells, with his hands glowing and notes floating around him as he performs.

Use a layer on top using ‘color’ mode and fill it in black, then paint your colors under that, it helps you see values and it’s in black and white for you so you see everything! The end result really helps to make it pop! There’s some professional artists with color blindness they use special preset palettes or other tricks to help! The bonus is they help everyone !
